Under this postwar program we've acquired or ordered 56,854 cars, including 34,850 box cars, at a cost of $356,000,000. In 1955 alone we placed orders for 15,475 cars to cost approximately $183,000,000 a commitment of roughly three and a half times the 1955 net income of the S. P. System Right now we have in service something over 75,000 freight cars of all types. This represents a ten-year increase of 3S9c in ownership and 469c in carrying capacity. This is an outstanding railroad record. We think this record of freight car purchases is good evidence that we are doing everything we can to take care of the requirements of our shippers. mm Southern Pea cific PPii Wednesday Night Is FAMILY NIGHT At Weisfields!
