The Public Health Service indicated today that it sees no danger for the rest of the nation in the ma jor polio outbreak which has hit Chicago. "Tne sharp increase in the number of polio cases reported in Illinois." it was reported. is almost entirely due to localiz ed outbreaks in certain sections of Chicago, mainly . . . among persons of low economic status." 435 New Cases Reported For the nation as a whole. 435 new cases of polio were reported last week, 130 fewer cases than were reported in the same week of 1955. So far this year, there have been 3.365 cases compared to 4.676 last year. The paralytic figures are less encouraging, however. There were 212 para lytic cases last week compared to 204 the same week last year. And the paralytic total so far this year is running only slightly below last year, 1.740 compared to 1.856. Reason Unknown Authorities said they don't know the reason for the relative ly high paralytic rate. Separation Surgery Due Siamese Twins San Diego (U.Ri Two teams of doctors at Grossmont hospi tal will perform surgery today lo separate Gary and Larry Hutchens, Siamese twins born 16 days ago. Dr. Thomas O'Connell, who heads the surgeons performing the operation, said it would not be a serious operation. The two boys are normal in every re spect, he said, but are joined by 1'2 inches of connecting tissue at the base of their spines.
