Stan Musial took over the Na

first time this season today in
a powerful bid to make good his
prediction that he'll win the
seventh title of his career.
The 35-year-old Musial ham

hold by Honus Wagner. Ty Cobb
holds the big league mark of
12 batting championships.

streak. Don Newcombe scored
his 12th victory tops for the
NL, although relieved in the
seventh. Ernie Banks hit a grand
slam homer for the Cubs.
The New York Yankees in

the 10-inning nightcap. The

Indians Split Pair
Dave Sisler, aided by Ike De-

hitter to give the Boston Red
Sox a 3-1 win after the Cleve

fielder's option and two over
throw errors for the winning
run. The marker came on a
close play at home.
Medford took a 2 to 0 lead
in the mix with fourth and
fifth inning runs. Coquille used
three hits, and an error and a

Wednesday
Medford Cheney Studs will try
for their second win of the sea
son over the Yreka Indians base
ball team Wednesday.
The tussle with the Californ
ians, an evening affair at the
fairgrounds here, will be the first
tilt at home in 10 days for the
Studs.
Medford's semi-pros .tripped
the Indians 9 to 5 in an early
June meeting. A Studs' four-run
inning, helped by John Kovenz's
two-run homer, was the big boost
in the victory. The early season
decision followed three Studs'
victories over Yreka last year.
Medford's club aims to continue
the domination.
Manager Bill Snavely may
pick his starting chucker from
among Dennis Bennett, Larry
Root, Loren Cummins and Rocky
Biscotti. All except Biscotti saw
duty against the Studs in the
early June mix. Bennett was the
starter and took the loss.
Possible Players
Yreka may have its big catch
er, Bill Kleaver, back in har
ness. He was on the injured list
and did not play in the previous
scuffle.
Infielders for the Indians may
be Jack Clark, first base; Butch
Pickard, second base; Willie
Jones, shortstop, and Root, third

fielders could be picked
Adjustments in that line-up
could mean Clark at first. Hock-
