Martin, 1002 Maple Park drive, an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Joanne to Wil liam Patrick Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Peterson, who are with the State depart ment in Iceland. Miss Martin, a June graduate of Medford Senior High school, is employed by the Bear Creek orchards. Mr. Peterson is a grad uate of high school in Linz, Austria, and Oreeon State col lege. He is employed as an aero nautical engineer for the govern ment researh laboratories at Moffit Field, Calif. No wedding date has been set. Tell Engagement Of Two Students Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stokes, Foothills road, announce the en gagement of their daughter, Roxanna Stokes, to James Kline, son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Kline, Ventura, Calif. No date has been set for the wedding. Miss Stokes, a social science major at the University of Cal ifornia at Santa Barbara, and Mr. Kline, a business administra tion major, were sophomores at the university last year. Miss Stokes is employed In Pasadena for the summer. Miss Ryn will be a senior at Medford Senior High school this fall. Mr. Carlile is serving with (he Air Force at Parks Air base, San Francisco. The wedding Is planned for next summer. Silver Tea Held In Shady Cove Jackson County Chapter of the Red Cross held a silver tea June 28 at the home of Mrs. E. W. Seggessenman, Shady Cove. Manville Heisel, chairman of fund raising for the chapter, dis cussed the various services of Red Cross with those attending and explained the necessity of the annual drive for members and funds in order to continue and develop these programs. The floral arrangements were by Mrs. William Shepherd of Shady Cove Garden club with an attractive yellow motif used for the tea table. Assisting Mrs. Seggessnman were Mrs. E. S. Strother, Mrs. Vern Wilson and Mrs. Richard Bartus, all of Shady Cove. Board members from other parts of the county attending were Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Thorndike, Mrs. Scott V. Davis, Mrs. Harry P. Poston, Mrs. E. A. Littrell, Mrs. Robert Keeney, Mrs. V. W. Hammond, Mrs. H. E. Morris and Seth Bullis. Plan Picnic Members of Retired Teachers' association will hold a picnic meeting Monday, . Sunday, July 8, 1958 Church Rites In Ashland Wed Couple Ashland Miss Carol Ann Beare and Verna Edwin Moberly were married in a ceremony held June 23 at the Free Meth odist church, Ashland. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Beare, 128 South Pioneer avenue, Ashland, and the bridegroom is from Talent. The Rev. F. C. Newmans offi ciated for the four o'clock after noon ceremony and 75 guests at tended. John Beare, Portland, brother of the bride, was soloist and Mrs. William Vovruska, San Francis co, was at the organ. The bride wore a ballerina- length bolero gown of lace fash ioned with a tiered skirt. Her short veil was held by a cap of pearls and rhinestones and she carried a spray of pink rose buds on a small white Bible. Mrs. Jason Lee was matron- of-honor for her sister. She wore a blue nylon ballerina frock and carried a nosegay of pink and white carnations. Sheila Beare, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Her dress was of white nylon and she scattered petals from a pink basket. Mr. Beare gave his daughter in marriage and William Mob erly, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Jason Lee and Edward Beare, brother of the bride, were ushers. An arch of red roses and mock orange blossoms formed a setting for the bridal party and other decorations were baskets of roses, snapdragons and white daisies. The reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee, 820 Garden way. Mrs. Marilyn Fay, Portland, a sister of the bride, served the wedding cake and Mrs. William Moberly, sister- in-law of the bridegroom, pour ed. The newlyweds spent their honeymoon at Crater lake and will live in Grand Junction, Colorado. The bride, born and reared in Ashland, was gradu ated from Ashland High school with the 1956 class. The bride groom served in the United States Navy during World War n. Set ting for the ceremony was an arch of fern and blue and pink daisies. Baskets of pink gladiolus and blue delphin iums flanked the arch. The Rev. D. F. Barnett officiat ed at the candlelight double ring ceremony. Miss Miller is the great-granddaughter of Mrs. Eva Sherman, Savage Creek road, Grants Pass. Mr. Johnson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dee Johnson, Rogue River. Given in marriage by her father, James Miller, the bride wore a white gown fashioned with a skirt of lace and ac cordion pleated net panels. The fitted bodice was accented at the neckline with seed pearls and rhinestones. Sequin medal lions trimmed her fingertip veil which was fastened to a crown of pearls. Her flowers were Ester Reed daisies and an orchid. Mrs. D. F. Barnett was organ ist and accompanied Mrs. Rob ert DeArmand who sang. Maid of honor, Miss Dorothy Boucher, carried a bouquet of blue daisies which contrasted with her dress of pink taffeta and net. Bridesmaids were Miss Gloria Little and Miss Myrma Towse, who wore dresses of blue taffeta and net. They carried pink daisies. Miss Susan Rushing, niece of the bridegroom, was flowergirl. She wore a floorlength dress of blue net over blue nylon organ dy and had a crown of pink and blue flowers. Ringbearer was Gary Davis, cousin of the bride. Cletus Dailey was best man and ushers were Don Biggers and Bobby Hoover. They also were candlelighters. Mrs. Lee Reynolds, Bremer ton, Wash., mother of the bride, wore a gown of dusty rose lace with navy blue duster coat and white accessories. Mrs. Johnson chose for her son's wedding a pink linen sheath and duster with matching accessories. They both wore white orchid corsages. Pink and blue Ester Reed daisies decorated the church recreation room where a re ception was held following the ceremony. The wedding cake was served by Mrs. Mary Lou Davis, aunt of the bride. Miss Carol Weaver served coffee, while Miss Glenda Stinchcomb presided at the punch bowl. Miss Phyllis Stinchcomb was at the gift table and Miss Sandra Gregory was in charge of the guest book. After a wedding trip to northern California and east ern Oregon they will be at home after July 8 at 400 Savage Creek road, Grants Pass. The bride is a student at Rogue River High school. The bridegroom, -a graduate of Rogue River High school, is em ployed by mason contractor Carl Sandeen, Rogue River. Visitors to Spend Month in Medford Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Maynard, Milledgeville, Illinois, arrived in Medford Friday for a month-long visit with his moth er, Mrs. Frank VanDrew, 1164 Spring st. WHAT Officers Installed By Groups Central Point Central Point Lions club and the auxiliary held the annual installation of offi cers Friday evening at Tally Ho cafe, Talent. Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Saxbury were Installed presidents. C. W. Abbott presided as toast- master during the dinner meet ing preceding the candle-lighted ceremony. Additional Lions taking office were Don A. Faber, first vice president; C. W. Abbott, second vice-president; O. W. Panter, sec retary-treasurer; Ted Anderson, lion trainer and Clint Blithem, lion tamer. Directors are Richard Stratton, Arthur Rupp, Jim Glenn and Gay Anderson. Installing officer was William Rolfing, governor of District 36- E, and a member of the Grants Pass club. Installing officer for the aux iliary was Mrs. Dan Dwyer, past parliamentarian and member of Crater auxiliary, Medford. Tak ing office in addition to Mrs. Saxbury were Mrs. Jim Glenn, vice-president; Mrs. Gay Ander son, secretary; Mrs. Don A. Fa ber, treasurer; and Mrs. Ted An derson, lion tamer. Mr. Saxbury presented a past president's pin to Mr. Panter and Mrs. Rupp presented Mrs. Pant er with her past president's pin and a gift. The pages, Mrs. Abbott and Mrs. Dick Korner, presented cor sages and bouttonieres made by the Central Point Garden club to the officers. Past presidents present were Mr. Abbott, Sam Mallon, Mr. Glenn and Mr. Rupp, who is also past zone chairman. Past presi dents of the auxiliary included Mrs. Kenneth Wald, Mrs. Rupp and Mrs. Les Gillman. Table decorations were arrang ed by Mrs. Anderson in a pink and purple theme. " Dancing followed the Installa tion. Former Residents Visit in Medford Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nordwick and children, Brian and Karen, were guests last week of Mr. Nordwick's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Nordwick, 919 Reddy avenue. The Nordwick's, form erly of Medford, now livt in Madera, Calif. The family continued north to Salem to visit relatives of Mrs. Nordwick and will return to Medford later this week, stop ping en route in Roseburg.
