I have been mar ried several years, but have no children. I live in the same city with, my parents, who are both in their sixties. My brother and sister both moved to different cities when they got married and they now have three children each. They very seldom come to see my parents, who are terribly lonely. They never write letters. They occasionally telephone, but it is always a hurried, awkward conversation of "How are you . . . fine, and you . . well, time's up." - ' It seems to me that they could not possibly treat them this way if I were not here to "keep and eye" on our parents. I do this to the best of my ability, but I work hard at my job and have a very busy social life. In any case, no mater what I do I am unable to make up for what my sister and brother don't do. I know they love our parents and I can't understand their lack of consideration . . . unless it's simply that they want to put the whole responsibility one me. Mrs. K. R. It's not true that we want to put the whole re sponsibility for our parents on Dorothy, but what can we do living so far away? Dorothy has a guilt complex about our par ents and constantly sends us alarmist letters. She married outside our faith and made our parents very unhappy about it. They have gotten over it better than she has. We don't expect her to "make up' for our con-' duct, and she has no right to dictate to us what we ought to do for our parents. They certain ly don't complain. 1 The Council: Dorothy may have a "guilt complex" about her parents, but it is possible that this, plus the fact that she has no children to take up her time and emotional energy, sen sitizes her to her parent's needs. Mrs. K. R. and her brother ought to realize that their par ents ' have too much pride to "complain' to them, but they may take Dorothy into their confidence. Certailny, brief tele phone ' conversations are poor Two Are Killed When 'Hotrod' Crashes San Francisco U.R) Ger ald Williamson, 21, and Jerome Miller, also 21, both of San Francisco, were killed early Saturday when their "hotrod" and another car it was racing collided on heavily traveled Mission street. Both cars were heading north on Mission when, Just before reaching an intersection and for some unexplained reason, the car carrying Williamson and Miller stopped short. The other car, which was trailing the pair, crashed into the rear of the hot rod. Williamson was thrown from the driver's seat to the rear seat. Miller was thrown clear of the car. Both men died instantly. Claims BLM Stand Bottles Up Bill Ephrata OJ.PJ Hubert H. Walter, executive assistant to the Columbia Basin commission said Saturday the failure of the bu reau of reclamation to report its stand on the land limitation is sue has bottled up the bill in the commission. ' Walter said the bureau has come out against increased acre age, but they should make their position clear. He said it is the bureau's job to administer the law and the job of Congress to make the law. Dorothy should, however, get over the feeling that .she j must make up for her sister's and brother's conduct and should certainly stop sending alarmist letters.
