Allen Bausman of Klamath Falls took the top spot twice and Jack McCoy of Ashland did the same thing. But will it be one of them or someone else? Mike Randall, 50, of Arizona is busy working on his car and hopes to make a real fast show ing Saturday night. Johnny Jones, M77, has been steadily improving his automobile and his driving to the point where he will be a hard man to beat I Kurt Tunes Hudson Leadfoof Lou Kurz, M7, has been doing some more work on his big Hudson and belieVes that now he can keep it in front Lou lost a heart breaker to Ber nie Miller of Grants Pass in the trophy dash last Saturday. Ber nie won by a wheel length. The "hardluck kid," Bobby Jenkins lost some more wheels last Saturday and now may have everything fixed so that he will keep them on his car for the whole evening. Bartlett Phone 3-4381 STUDS BATTLE 'JACKS ON NORTH BEND FIELD Medford's Cheney Studs go Into their third series of the Southern Oregon Baseball league this week end carrying a .227 team batting average for their first six loop encounters. The Studs will oppose Coos Bay-North Bend on the North Bend diamond. Two games are scheduled Saturday in the aft ernoon and evening and one on Sunday in the afternoon. Drain will go to Bend for a simi lar series also this week end. The Studs will be out to im prove on their current third place standing and will-have to win at least two of their three games to accomplish that ,mis s on. Drain and CB-NB are knot ted for first spot by percentage. The Black Sox have played six games (4-2) however, to Coos Bay's three (2-1). Medford has a 3-3 record. Manager Jack Cooney has paced the Studs at bat In their first two series. He has a .348 standing. Frank Roelandt has a .304 standing, while Bill Mar tell, with the Studs for Just one series, has a .333 average. Jim Steffen has a .273 count and John Koveni has hit .250. THfnrrt will he nrr affatnst a club which has swatted .214 for three games. Pifher leads with .364 and Jones and Vic Back hand each have .333. Cooney has reported that he plans to pitch Derald Wooton, Bob Selsor and Don White against the Lumberjacks this week. He did not name the or der. Wooton hurled In fine re lief work last week end. Selsor has one win In the loop and White has a 1-1 record. Manager Cur ley Leininger may assign Jerry Bartow from Whitman college and Don Lane and Jim Lehl from University of Oregon, as pitchers for the three conflicts. Another Lumberjack thrower Is Brad Lucas, Willam ette university and ex-Grants Pass high player. Cooney likely will be at first base for Medford with Dick Toney and Twinfc Pederson at second base and shortstop and Bill Martell at third base. John Kovenz, Jim Steffen and Derald Wooton likely will have outfield assignments. The skipper was hoping that Terry Maddox would be available for the se ries. He has been on a Univer sity of Oregon geology field trip. The list was expected to mount today. Post entries are being ac cepted, match officials said. The current list includes the two top shooters in recent Na tional Rifle association regional match at San Francisco. They are C. L. Wood, Bellflower, Calif., the winner, and George Hendrix, Etna, Calif., runner up. Winner of a spring smallbore rifle shoot here a year ago, Vir gil Hamliu, Portland, Is an entry. He is now stationed at Lowry Air Forse Base. Other Cali fornia entries Include a pair of master shooters, Fred Dunkin, Mariposa, and R. N. Burkhart, Hermosa Beach. Both are al ways contenders in California. Burkhart won a registered event at Long Beach last month. Russel Cornelius, Portland, and Harvey Mutch, Enterprise, are among Oregon master shoot ers entered. Another Portland entry is Lee Swem. who makes bedders for guns. William Sch litzkus, Springfield, and Lee Brentltager, Eugene, are two others rated among top. entries. Mrs. Florene P.
