Oregon Guard Pilots Die in Plane Crash BoiM U.R) Two Oregon air Kational Guard fliera were killed yesterday when their F-94B jet lighter had a power failure on takeoff at Boise's Gowen field and they bailed out at an altitude too low for their parachutes to open. The pilot of the craft was Identified ai Capt. Wallace Parka, 34, Portland and 2nd Lt. John G. Kominoth, 27, of Bay City. Both were attached to the 233rd fighter squadron of Port land. MaJ. J. P. Blair, public infor mation officer of the 142nd air defense wing, said the plane "flamed out" on takeoff. The pilot tried to circle to land the ahip but the two men bailed out when they saw they could not make it back to Gowen field. The pair bailed out an an alti tude of 200 feet, which was too low to give their parachutes time to open. The crippled Jet crashed Into a small hill about two miles south of tha air strip. Eddie Fisher Taken To Hospital for Test Hollywood U.R) Popular singer Eddie Fisher was de scribed as "coming along fine" today in Cedars of Lebanon hos pital where he was admitted for test and observation of an in testinal upset. The singing star, married to Actress Debbie Reynolds, was admitted to the hospital Mon day. Fisher had been working on his movie debut In "Bundle of Joy" with his wife, and friends who said the illness may have been the result of "nervous tension." Mrs. Daisy Olson of Baker, Ore., is the house guest of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Stone. Mr. and Mrs. Claud Garret and family of Ashland and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Netherland and family of Medford spent Father's day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Carlton. Mrs. Garret and Mrs. Netherland are daughters of the Carltons. Ralph Train and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Collier and family all of Creswell, Ore., spent the week end recently at the home of Mrs. Audrey Collier. House guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Tackstein on Butte Creek are Mr. and Mrs. Philip Young of Fortuna, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Hastings of Medford. Tackstein just had a large implement shed built on his place. Margie Hunt and Robert Con ger were married June 1 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bos worth in Central Point. HARVARD MAN Fred Safier Jr., 12, lust graduated from Drew School in San Francisco, has been offered a scholarship at Harvard University. He planned to attend University of Califor nia to study to be a nuclear physicist but when results of his admissions tests were tabulated, Fred was among highest in the nation. He was immediately offered the Harvard scholarship. Newport Boy Killed When Hit by Car Newport, Ore. U.R) A ilx-year-old Newport boy was kill ed here yesterday afternoon when he darted out into the path of an oncoming car. It was the first traffic fatality in the city for a number of years. Victim of the accident was Kenneth W. Haga, son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Haga of New port. v Police said that the lad rushed into the street from behind a parked car. Driver of the car was James L. Crowell, 18, of Newport. FRESH FROG DELIVERED Trenton, N.J. (U.PJ Mrs. Elizabeth Burkhard, a Trenton housewife, said she turned on a water faucet Monday and got a tiny frog along with the water.
