TWO MEDFOHD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Sunday, June 24. 1958 Catholic , Rites Wed Couple A ceremony held June 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic church wedded Miss Patricia Hampson, Medford, to Edward A. Gillooly, East Rutherford, N.J. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlei H. Thurston, 1641 Ridgeway avenue, and the bride Kroom's parents are Mr. and' Mrs. John J. Gillooly, East Rutherford. The Rev. Robert J. Tomisser performed the double-ring rites at two o'clock. The bride wore a ballerina length dress of white lace and net over satin and carried a bou quet of whit gardenias and car nations. Her fingertip veil was attached to a Juliet cap. She was given In marriage by her father. Miss' Marilyn E. Gillooly. sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor, and Miss Mikell Thurs ton, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. Miss Gillooly wore a frock of lavender taffeta and ne, and Miss Thurston s grown was green taffeta and net. They carried bouquets of garden flow ers. Carolyn Jo Porter, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Jerry Mardahl, Weed, Calif., a classmate of the groom, was best man. Michael Read was usher. Bruno Pellegrini was organist for the ceremony. A reception at the Medford hotel, attended by about SO guests, followed the ceremony. The bride attended Medford schools and Hunter college in New York City and is a senior at the University of California at Berkeley. The bridegroom is a 1956 graduate of the Univer sity of Santa Clara in California. He is employed by Burroughs Business Machines in Oakland, Calif. The young couple will be at home July 12 at 2829 Forest street in Berkeley after a wed ding trip to New York and New Jersey. Among the wedding guests was Mrs. John J. A ceremony at First Presby terian church Sunday, June 17, wed Jed Miss Fidelia Janet Boone to Ensign Gary Lee Bo shears. of the United States Navy. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank D. Boone, 1526 West Main street, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Miner T. Boshears, 408 South Grape street. Dr. D. Kirkland West read the double-ring ceremony at two o'clock in the afternoon. About 300 guests attended. White baskets held pink and white .gladioli, and white tapers burn ed in white candelabra. The bride's gown, designed by Cahill, was of white organdy with fitted bodice embroidered in roses and a very full floor- length skirt. Her short veil was held by a small cap and she carried a small bouquet of baby roses and stephanotis on the Bible which she used as queen of Bethel 14. Mrs. Charles L. Heinrich, Kap pa Alpha Theta sorority sister of the bride, was matron-of-honor. The four additional attendants were Mrs. Roderic Gillilan, Forest Grove. Ore., Miss Carole Bates and Miss Harriett Dow son, Medford, and Mrs. Gerald F. Bartz (Jeanene Findley) Port land. Mrs. Gillilan and Miss Bates are sorority sisters. Their Identical street-length frocks were of pink and white striped organdy designed by Lantz and they carried nose gays of pink rosebuds and sweet peas. Miss Gretchen Meier, Med ford, cousin of the bride, and Miss Ruth Ann Marshall, cousin of the bridegroom, lighted the candles. Mr. Boone escorted his daugh ter to the altar and gave her in marriage. Kenneth Boshears was best man for his brother and ushers were William Green, Robert Bosworth and Vance Tinseth, Medford, and Frank W. Burdell, cousin of the bride from Portland. Glen Lamb was soloist and Miss Priscilla West, played the wedding music and accompa nied Mr. Lamb. For the reception Mrs. Ken neth Hulburt, and Miss Janie Gill, Corvallis, sorority sister of the bride, served the wedding cake. Pouring were Mrs. B. J. Staats Sr., and Miss Sue Smiley, Portland, sorority sister. Miss Ann Futter, Los Angeles, took charge of the guest book. Miss Caroline Snook, Eugene, an other sorority sister, took charge of the gifts at the church. Joy Guidry, Jacksonville, cousin of the bride, passed the bride groom's cake and Janice Guidry, Jacksonville, and Carrol Mit chell, cousins of the bride, pass ed little bags of rice. Tor her daughter's wedding Mrs. Boone wore a silk sheath dress of off-white with three quarter length silk coat of pea cock blue.. Her hat of summer velvet matched the coat and her flowers were white roses. The bridegroom's mother wore . a two-piece blue silk dress with jacket, beige hat and accessories and corsage of yellow roses. Ensign Boshears and his bride motored! up the north coast beaches for their honeymoon and after July 3 will fly to Hawaii where the bridegroom will report for duty. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school and Oregon State college and also attended Merrill-Palmer school in Detroit, Mich. The bridegroom, also a Med ford High school alumnus, was graduated from Yale university earlier this month and received , his Navy commission at that tim l ' . I FL Club F. Miss Marlene Joan Vincent Is Bride of Harold Muchozv Of interest in Medford is news of the wedding of Miss Marlene Joan Vincent to Harold Hall Muchow in a ceremony held Satur day, June 16, in Rose City Park Methodist church, Portland. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noble T. Vincent, 10 South Groveland avenue, Medford, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur M. Muchow, Portland. The service was read at eight o'clock in the evening by Dr. Roy A. Fedje. Pink and white flowers provided a floral setting and the church aisle was marked with sprays of pink flowers. Mrs. C. W. Howard, Portland, was organist and Miss Sandra Scheurman, Portland, sang. The bride, escorted and given in marriage by her father, wore a chapel length gown of white nylon tulle fashioned with over skirt of embroidered lace. A pillbox hat of matching lace held in place her fingertip veil of silk illusion and she wore matching mitts. She carried a white Bible with a white orchid and ribbon streamers. Miss Shirley Hutchison, Med ford, maid-of-honor, and Mrs. William Muchow, attended the bride. They wore frocks of pink crystalette, ballerina length, and carried nosegays of pink and white blossoms which matched their headdresses. Mrs. Donald Benson, Port land, the former Patsy Older of Medford and Mrs. Robert John son, Portland, lighted the can dles. Their frocks were of white crystalette and their flowers were wristlets of pink and white blossoms. William Muchow served as best man for his brother and ushers were Robert Daugherty, Daryl Carlson and Paul Roley, all Portland. The pink and white color theme was also used for recep tion decorations. Pink and white sweet peas and bouvardia en circled the cake, punch bowl and candle vases. Mrs. Floyd L. Wisherd, Portland, cut the wed ding cake, assisted by Mrs. Thomas Lovelace, aunt of the bride, Mrs. Arthur Peters, Ash land, and Mrs. Leon Redmond, McMinnville. Mrs. Raymond Allen and Mrs. E. J. Schaub, Portland, Mrs. Lee Gruebbel, Beaverton, and Mrs. L. W. Bates, Medford, poured coffee and serving punch were Miss LaReva Hartford and Miss Ardath Durbin, Portland. As sisting about the room were Mrs. Walter Schaub, Portland, Mrs. Keith Bates, Medford; Mrs. Clyde Leonard, formerly of Medford and now of Portland, and Mrs. Penn Chitwood, Med ford. Mrs. Hugh Nelson, Prineville, took charge of the guest book and Miss Joan Pangborn, Port land, the gifts. For the wedding and recep tion the bride's mother wore a gown of beige lace with match ing accessories and her flowers were brown orchids. The bride groom's mother was attired in a beige dress with white acces sories and her flowers were pale yellow orchids. In Portland for the wedding were the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Bates, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bates and Keith Bates Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Penn Chitwood, and Miss Marilyn Russell, all Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Peters, Ashland, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Strat ton. Central Point. Mr. Muchow and his bride are taking a three-weeks motor trip' for a honeymoon and will live at 3535 N.E. 82nd street, in Portland. Both are caseworkers with the Multnomah' County Welfare department. The bride is a graduate of Medford. High school and Willamette univer sity, and is a member of Delta Gamma sorority. Sorority sisters at the wedding included Miss Hutchinson, Mrs. Nelson, Mrs. Benson, Mrs. Johnson, Miss Scheurman, Miss Russell and Mrs. Stratton. Mr. Muchow Is a graduate of Oregon State college. Among the parties honoring the bridal couple was a dinner the evening before the wedding given by Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Leonard at their Portland home. Parties Given For Bride-Elect Miss Susan Drummond, whose wedding to George M. Grgich of San Pedro, Calif., was planned for yesterday in Santa Barbara, Calif., was honored at a shower and tea Monday afternoon. Hos tesses were Mrs. Lester Adams, Mrs. Melvin Lattie, Mrs. Gladys Loyd and Mrs. Frank Fairweath er, and it was held at the Adams home in the Applegate. About 50 guests attended. Pouring were the bride-elect's grandmother, Mrs. L. C. Ober lies, and her aunt, Mrs. John J. Miller, both of Tacoma. The tea table was centered with a large antique silver candelabrum with bouquets of pink roses, mock or ange blossoms and forget-me-nots in crystal compotes on eith er side. . When guests arrived they placed their gifts in a large nest arranged in one of the trees In the garden. When the gifts were opened the honored guest was given a poem to read which said that her friends were assisting her to "feather her nest." Miss Drummond, her fiance and her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Drummond, left Tuesday for San ta Barbara. Mr: and Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Oberlies and other relatives and friends also traveled south for the wedding. Last Sunday Dr. and " Mrs. Drummond honored their daugh ter and her fiance at a large gar den party at their home on Ross lane. Engaged to Wed Talent Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Meeder, Talent, announce the engagement of their daughter. Miss Shirley Meeder, to Gary Combs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ho ward Combs, Talent. The engaged couple, gradu ates of Talent High school, have not set a wedding date. Mr. Combs is employed at the Lithia Lumber Company, Ashland. Announce Trothal Of Two Students Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Hough ton, 512 Dakota avenue, an nounce the engagement of their daughter Marcia to Richard Padgham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Padgham, 2707 Spring- brook road. Both Miss Houghton and Mr. Padgham are graduates of Med ford High school. Miss Houghton will return to Southern Oregon college next fall to complete her course in teacher training for primary education. Her . nance will resume his studies in Sep tember at Oregon State college, where he will be a senior in business administration. Smiths Here Guests in Medford are Master Sgt. and Mrs. Stanley Smith and their son, Sidney Joe, of Laguna Beach, Calif. Sergeant Smith is with the United States Marine Corps. The Smiths are visiting Mrs. Smith's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rinard, Thomas road, and Sergeant Smith's mother, Mrs. Ola Smith, King street. They arrived a week ago and will re main for another week. Engagement Told At Dinner Party Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Gossard of Caldwell, Idaho, have announc ed the engagement of their daughter, Carol Beth, to Donald Dale Cobleigh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Cobleigh, Phoenix. The engagement was an nounced at a dinner given at Mon Desir inn June 16 by Miss Gossard's two sisters and their husbands, Dr. and Mrs. Alvin Roberts and Mrs. and Mrs. Deane Roberts, Central Point Miss Gossard was graduated from Greenleaf academy, Green leaf, Idaho, and attended George Fox college, Newberg, Ore. She is now employed as a file clerk at the California-Oregon Power company here. Mr. Cobleigh was graduated from Phoenix high school and served in the Navy during World War II. He is a graduate of Oregon State college and is now employed as an electrical engineer for the California-Ore gon Power company. No wedding date has been an nounced. Medford Woman Returns To City After Rome Visit Mrs. Russell Herbert, 9 East Jackson street, has returned to her home after a two months' visit in Rome. While there she visited her mother, sister, broth er, and grandmother. While in Rome Mrs. Herbert met Mrs. William A. Thompson, also of Medford, and was able to have dinner with her. Mrs. Herbert, who had not vis ited Italy since leaving her home nine years ago, expressed sur prise at the increase in modern equipment the Italians now have. She particularly mention- television in Italy which is taxed so the programs must be paid for before being viewed.
