Steven ion won the recent men's and women's pairs tournament spon aored by Camp White Veterans Bridge club. Their overall score for two sessions was 408 points. Another women's pair, Mrs. S. W. Alcorn and Mrs. William Kennedy, won second place with one-half point less. A pair of men players, Norris Porter and George Rode, took third with 403 and Howard Boyd and Roy Pruitt came in fourth with 39V.i points. T. J. Fuson and Tom Randall took fifth with 396'i points, and sixth went to Al Gilhouse and Bill Hickey for 368 points. Second session winners were Mr. Porter and Mr. Rode, 238Vi points, first; Mrs. Alcorn and Mrs. Kennedy, 215V4, second; Mr. Fuson and Mr. Randall, 21414, third; Mrs. Fred Rehling and Mrs. B. L. Sanderson, fourth, 213V4, fourth; Mrs. Bak er and Mrs. Stevenson, 2111s, fifth; Mrs. George Dean and Miss Isobel Stuart, 2041 2, sixth. Twenty-eight couples partici pated in the tournament, held on two consecutive Friday nights at Camp White. First ses sion winners were announced previously. A buffet supper followed play last Friday night. Plan Picnic Lone Pine Lone Pine Home Extension unit will hold the an nual picnic at Hawthorne park Thursday, June 21, at 12 noon. Members are to assemble in back of the Scout house. Guests are cordially invited to attend. Society College Women Induct Officers Officers for the coming year were installed at the last meet ing of College Women's Club of the Rogue River Valley. It was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Frame in Phoenix. Installed were Mrs. Ben Schmidt, president; Mrs. J. W. Murray, vice-president; Mrs. Alice Willitts, secretary and Mrs. H. S. Chirgwin, treasurer. Mrs. James Free talked on the tourist trade and told of the tourist activities of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. Social chairman for the after noon was Mrs. Bert Stancliffe and she was assisted by Mrs. R. C. Van Valzah, Miss Ruth Nye, Mrs. Oliver Obenchain, Mrs. G. O. Dizney and Mrs. A. F. Arney. DAV Auxiliary Plans Two Events This Week Members of the auxiliary to Disabled American Veterans have two events planned for this week. DAV Auxiliary Sewing club will meet at the home of Mrs. William Schroeder, 2495 Roberts road Thursday, June 21, at 11 a.m. A potluck luncheon will be served at noon. Members of the Past Com manders' club will hold a Fath ers' day dinner Saturday, June 23, at Hawthorne park. The event will be held near the Scout house at 8:30 o'clock. Each fam ily attending is to take a fried chicken and another picnic dish. Secret pal gifts will be ex changed, and members are also to take gifts for the fathers. DAR Regent Guest Speaks at Session Mrs. Roy D. Armstrong, Port land, state regent of the Oregon Society, Daughters of the Amer ican Revolution, was guest speaker for a meeting of the Southern Oregon district of the organization held Saturday in Ashland. The group met in Trin ity Episcopal parish hall. Representatives from all five chapters of the district were In attendance. Mrs. Armstrong stated that the national society wil have as its main objective this year "to cherish and maintain American freedom." Mrs. J. C. Kaylor and Mrs. G. F. Coldwell sang, with Mrs. J. W. McCoy accompanying. Eulolina chapter of Klamath Falls invited the group to meet in that city in 1957. 1 Robert .Norris Law Graduate; Parents Attend Robert Hall Norris. son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. NorTis, 1900 Hillcrest road, received his bachelor of law degree in recent graduation ceremonies at the University of Arizona, Tucson. The young man has remained in Tucson for further study and will take the Arizona bar ex aminations in July after which he will return home for a vaca tion. The commencement address was delivered by Sir Leslie Mun- ro. New Zealand's ambassador to the United States and perma nent representative of his coun try to the United Nations. Mr. and Mrs. Norris and Mrs. Ralph Norris were in Tucson for the commencement cere monies and the four motored through Grand Canyon National park during commencement week. - Coming Events Coming events and projects were announced at a meeting of St. Elizabeths' guild of St. Mark's Episcopal church held June 15. A series of coffee hours to be held during July and August following the morning service on Sunday were announced. The guild is also planning a card party to be given at Black Oaks in early August. The com mittee is the same one which ar ranged a successful event at Black Oaks last year, and is headed by Mrs. John Bunker. Serving with her -will be Mrs. G. R. Ringo, Mrs. G. R. Owens, Mrs. H. P. Bosworth Jr. and Mrs. C. Kline. The guild president, Mrs. Lew is Wayburn, has resigned since the family is moving to Klamath Falls. She was presented a fare well gift. A committee composed of Mrs. Bunker, Mrs. John Mof fat and Mrs. George R. V. Bol ster was appointed to select a new president. The guild will hold a no-hostess luncheon meeting at Black Oaks Friday, June 29. - 1 Initiation, Party Announced Today By FOE Auxiliary Initiation and a birthday party are planned this week by the auxiliary to Crater Lake aerie. Fraternal Order of Eagles. Initiation will be held Thurs day, June 21, at 8 p.m. in Eagles hall. Members are asked to take sandwiches or salads for the re freshment hour which will fol low the ceremony. The birthday dinner is set for Saturday June 23, at 6:30 o'clock at the lodge hall. The auxiliary will provide a meat dish and wo men attending are to take a veg etable dish or salads. John Reynolds of First Presbyterian church, Medford, will be guest speaker for a tea to be given by the Women's association of Phoenix Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon. If the weather should be un favorable for eating outside, the picnic will be held in the Fire place room of the Community club. Those attending are asked to take one hot dish and a salad or dessert and table service for each family. Sunshine Girls Make Party Plans First plans for a party were made at a recent meeting of 1 Pythian Sunshine Girls, held at the Pythian building. It will be given in July, with little sisters entertaining big sisters. A party for prospective mem bers was also considered.
