Couple Married In Church Rites Phoenix Miss Linda A. Wilt gen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wiltgen, 3761 South Paci fic highway, became the bride of Daniel P. Fix, Grants Pass, in a ceremony held June 9. It took place at 11 o'clock in the morning at Phoenix Church of Christ, with the Rev. Leslie Dean Pense reading the simple double ring ceremony. Roses decorated the church. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a street length frock of white embossed nylon and her flowers were a white gardenia encircled with white carnations. Miss Iona Rae Wiltgen, maid-of-honor for her sister, wore a frock of blue nylon printed with pink rosebuds and her corsage was of pink rosebuds and pink carnations. The bride's mother wore an aquamarine linen suit with corsage of gold colored car nations. Fred A. Heideman, Roseburg, was best man for the bridegroom. A wedding party was held at the family home following the ceremony. Mrs. Eric de Place. Medford, served the wedding cake. The newlyweds made a brief wedding trip and will be at home at 625 Southwest Fifth street in Grants Pass. Mr. Fix teaches the eighth grade in the Jerome Prairie school. Tilton (Landis-Shangle photo) Miss Hope Lorraine Herriott Married to Thomas J. Tilton . A two o'clock afternoon ceremony June 10 wedded Miss Hope Lorraine Herriott and Thomas J. Tilton. The double ring service was held at the First Methodist church. Dr. Raymond Balcomb officiated. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Herriott, 25 North Peach street, and the bridegroom, who is serving with the United States Air Force, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Til ton, 1032 East Jackson street The reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tilton at 3:30 o'clock that afternoon. La ter the couple left for their wed ding trip to Tucson, Ariz., the bridegroom's station. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a princess style gown of white crystalline, and her old fash ioned type bouquet was a white orchid with stephanotis. The bride's attendants all wore princess style frocks to match the bride's gown except in waltz length. Miss Louise Harwood, the honor attendant, wore orchid. The bridesmaids. Miss Jackie Craig, a cousin of the bride. Miss Carrol Miller and Miss Lorita Jennings, were dressed in blue, pink and green. i Their matching colonial bou quets were of daisies. Linda ! Rhodes and Clifford Pedersen. Yellow and white gladiolus ; were used to decorate the ; church. Warren Hanlin sang. About 100 guests attended the reception, given by the bride's parents at the Tiltons' home. It was arranged by Mrs. Enid Pat- chet, a cousin of Mrs. Tilton, who came from Long Beach, Calif., to attend the wedding. Mrs. Frank Craig served the punch and Mrs. Arthur Davis cut the cake and was assisted in serving by Mrs. Walter Jensen. The bride was a member of the 195S graduating class of Medford High school and has been employed by. Robinson brothers. The bridegroom was graduated from Medford High school and Compton Junior col lege in California. Couple to Wed In Summer Rites Mr. and Mrs. Ruben V. Close, 1395 Thomas road, announce the engagement of their daughter. Miss Myrna Joan Close, to Ken neth Charles Hudson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Hudson, route 1, box 865, Crescent City, Calif. The wedding is planned for this summer. The bride was graduated with this year's class at Medford High school and her fiance was grad uated from Waldport High school. Honored A bridal shower was given recently for Mrs. Mabel Vander pool, whose wedding to Lester Lynch will be an event of this month. Home Rites Wed Miss Wil.ma Jones, William Buchanan Trail A home ceremony June 8 wedded Miss Wilma Irene Jones and William Bu chanan. The rites were read at 8 o'clock in the evening by the Rev. Lewis Collins of Trail Community church at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Saterlee, on Oak drive, Central Point, brother-in-law and sister of the bridegroom. The bride, a 1956 graduate of Eagle Point high school, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Jones, Trail. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Owjn Buchanan of Medford. Mrs. Saterlee was the honor attendant and Mr. Saterlee served as best man. Mr. Jones gave his daughter in marriage. She wore an aqua blue suit with white accessories and her corsage was of garde nias. Mrs. Saterlee wore a pow der blue colored suit and her ac cessories were pink. Arrangements of roses deco rated the home and the wedding march was played by Mrs. Col lins, wife of the minister. She also furnished the songs. The reception was held at the Saterlee home. Assisting were Mrs. Lloyd Hammond; Mrs. Sam Jones, Klamath Falls, and Mrs. Lee Currey, all aunts of the bride. From out of town to attend the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. William Gilpatrick, Myrtle Point, relatives of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. James Venini, all of Portland, relatives of the bridegroom. The couple made a trip to the Oregon coast and have returned to live at 417V4 J street, Med ford. The bridegroom is employed at the Donna mill near Jacksonville. Robert Crawford Strang held May 19 at St. James Episcopal church in San Fran cisco. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Anna Demian, San Fran cisco, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Strang, former Medford resi dents now of Reno, Nev. The ceremony was attended by about 250 guests and was performed at 1 n'Hnpir in u afternoon by the Rev. Edward A. The bridegroom now is serving St. Philip's in the Desert, Episcopal mission at Hawthorne, Nev. ' The bride wore a pink nylon dacron 'dress, ballerina length, and matching accessories. She carried a white orchid with a white engraved Book of Com mon Prayer, a gift of the bride groom. Mrs. William J. Prudler, San Leandro, Calif., a sister of the bridegroom, was honor attend ant. She wore a pale nylon bal lerina aress. Her accessories matched her gown and she car ried pink bouvardia Marilyn Olsen, daughter of the bride, was flower girl. William J. Prudler was best man for his brother-in-law, and ushers were Robert Bareilles and George Olsen, son of the bride. William Miller sang the wed ding songs. The reception was held at the parish hall and a dinner was given at the home of the bride. The couple made their wed ding trip to Hawaii and have re turned to live at Hawthorne. The bridegroom is a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Holmes, Mr. and Mrs. C. Virgil Strang and Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Strang, all of Medford. Miss Ora Cox Arrives in City Miss Ora Cox of Bushnell, 111., has arrived in Medford to visit friends and is a guest in the home of Mrs. George Can ode on Crown avenue. Miss Cox, former Medford teacher and for many years principal of Lin coln school, has lived in Bush hell since her retirement from the Medford system. She has been active in the Daughters of Union Veterans for many years, and attended state conventions in North Da kota and in Albany, Ore.' before arriving in Medford. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. George C. Van Galder, 447 Ash street. Central Point, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Quintin Jordan, 704 Sterling road, Jacksonville. The Rev. Norman K. Tully of Jacksonville read the single-ring service at seven o'clock in the evening. About 125 guests were present for the ceremony and the reception which followed at the Van Galder home. The bride wore a gown of white net over satin, ballerina length, and her waist length veil was held by a halo of white gardenias. She carried a white Bible with a white orchid. Miss Frances Hogue was maid-of-honor and bridesmaids were Miss Mary Lou Van Galder, sis ter of the bride, and Miss Nancy Adams, Jacksonville, a cousin. They wore pastel colored baller ina frocks of nylon eyelet em broidery and carried nosegays of sweetpeas. Their headbands were of valley lilies. The flower girls were Sherry and Linda Backes, cousins of the bride. They were dressed in pink and carried nosegays of sweet peas. Mr. Van Galder gave his daughter in marriage, and Dick Sanford, Jacksonville, was best man for the bridegroom. Gary West, Jacksonville, and Gary Walters, Medford, seated, the Festival Begins Auditions To Be Ashland The twenty-fir& year of the Oregon Shakespea rean festival officially opens to day, as actors, actresses, direc tors and technicians from all over the United States register here for the summer's work. Auditions begin early Mon day in the outdoor theatre, and will continue through Wednes day evening. Casting will be completed during an all-night session Wednesday night, and rehearsals begin Thursday after noon. From then on, rehearsals will be held every morning and evening except Sundays un til the season begins August 1. Directing this year are Allen Fletcher, Carnegie Technical In stitute, who is returning after a year's absence; B. Iden Payne, director of the San Diego festi val for many years; and Hal J. Todd, of the Idaho State college faculty. Angus L. Bowmer will again be the festival's producing-di-rector; Dr. Margery Bailey, Stanford university, is director of education; W. Bernard Windt. music director for the Ashland 21st Year; gin Monday (public schools, is director of music; Richard Graham will again act as director of make-up and editor of the souvenir pro gram; William Patton is general manager; William Dawkins is director of publicity; Richard Hay, returning after a year'i study in England, will be tech nical director, and Ed Brubaker will be assistant technical director. Dr. Gene Shores Visits Relatives; Receives Degree Dr. Gene Shores is in Medford to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs., Orval Shores, Route 2, Box 266, Central Point, and other rela-. tives and friends. He was grad uated from Kansas State college recently, receiving a degree in veterinary medicine. The young man attended Medford schools and began his college career at Southern Oregon college, Ash land. Dr. Shores will leave June 25 for the San Fernando valley in California where he will estab lish a practice. Van Galder, Jacksonville, and Mrs. George Backes, . Cali fornia, took charge of the re ception and also served punch. Mrs. Byron Backes, aunt of the bride, cut the wedding cake, as sisted by Mrs. Henry Jordan, Jacksonville, aunt of the bride groom. Mrs. Joe Morgan, cousin of the bridegroom, took charge of the bride's book and Mrs. Robert Van Galder, aunt of the bride from Vallejo, Calif., and Miss Benita Bentley, Central Point, the gifts. For the wedding and recep tion the bride's mother wore a dress of orchid linen with white accessories and a corsage of white rosebuds. The bride groom's mother was attired in a pink wool suit with white ac cessories and her flowers were white rosebuds. The bride attended Jackson ville and Central Point schools and the bridegroom attended school in Jacksonville.
