SIX MEDFOHD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Friends Continue Vacalion School; Personnel Lisled Daily Vacation Bible school will contine for another week at the Friends church, Monday through Friday from 9 until 11:30 a.m. Attendance for the first week haj averaged 170, with a staff of 27 teachers and officers in charge. Personnel includes pastor Clynton Crisman, director; nur sery teachers: Mrs. Floyd Ditch, Mrs. O. W. The pastor will continue a series of sermons from Thessa lonians in the worship at 9:45 and 11 a.m., Sunday. Pat Leek and Lary Smith will sing a duet at the first worship service. Time for the evening services during the summer has been changed to 8 o'clock and Chris tian Endeavor will be at 7 p.m. Vacation School Set for Presbyterians Vacation Church school at First Presbyterian church will open Monday, June 18 and will be held through June 29, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., daily on week days. Registration must be made before opening date, those In tharge announced. Small fees will be charged but all are In vited and will not be refused for lack of fees, they explained. Ad vance registrations may be made between 1 and 4 p.m., June 16. "The Bible," Is this year's theme. Mrs. James K. Hoey is su perintendent. In addition to Bible studies, recreation and refreshments will be on the program.. Four-year-old children will at tend the first week and pre school age children, from five to six years, will attend the second week. First to fifth grade stu dents will attend both weeks. Those in the sixth and seventh grades are to attend one week, beginning June 18 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Anyone who can furnish transportation to the school is asked to call Mrs. W. R. Mitchell, telephone 3-5270, and children who need transportation also should contact her. Congregationalists List New Schedule A new schedule of services will go into eflect at the Con gregational church Sunday. Sun day school and church worship will both begin at 10 a.m. The schedule -has been adopted for the entire summer season in the hope that it will be convenient for parents to make just one trip to the church to provide a suitable program for all mem bers of the family. In celebration of Fathers day Sunday the Rev. Thomas Mc- Camant will speak on, "Chris tian Obedience." This Sunday and next are the last two at which the choir will present an anthem until next fall. Mission Supervisor To Speak on Sunday In the absence of the pastor, the Rev. Raymond W. Hurn, the Rev. LeRoy Harris will speak at First Church of the Nazarene, Holly and First sts. June 17 and June 24. He will speak at both the services at 11 a. m.. and at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Classes are held daily from 9 a.m., to 11:45 a.m. General superintendent of the school is Mrs. Vivian Starkey. The theme around which the activities center is, "Workers Together With God." The dem onstration program will be pre sented June 24 at 10:30 a.m. Picnic Will Honor Memory of Former Superintendent St. Mark's annual church school picnic, to honor the mem ory of the late John C. Mann, for many years superintendent of the school, will be held Sun day at the Table Rock estates, through the courtesy of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Day. The picnic is scheduled for 2 p.m., until evening, and a varied program of games, swim ming, and music has been ar ranger. Those without trans portation should assemble at the church at 2 p.m. The routes will be marked with signs from Tolo bridge. R. D. Dames is chairman fo the event, with a committee in charge of the various activities. All are requested to bring lunches. Liquid refreshments and ice cream will be furnished by the school. The regular church school will not meet Sunday but will meet for the opening of the sum mer session on Sunday, June 24. The Junior school will as semble at the Guild hall at 11 a.m. and the Senior school in the church at the same hour. Phoenix Youth Attend Session Phoenix The Rev. Ernest V o 1 k man accompanied several young people of the Westminster Fellowship group of Phoenix Presbyterian church to a young people's conference being held at Lake of the Woods, The rep resentatives from the church will take part in the Sunday 11 a.m., service. The Rev. Mr. Volkman is serving as one of the teachers. On the trip are Miss Elizabeth Pramann, Miss Kay Nicodemus, Eddie and Freddie Beeson, Larry Morin. Miss Betty Harris, Rod ney Fowler and Doug James. Mrs. Rex Nicodemus is a coun selor for the group. Plans Completed For Bible School At Phoenix Church Phoenix Plans are completed at Phoenix Presbyterian church for a Daily Vacation Bible school which will open Monday, June 18 and contiriue through June 22, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. "Adven turing in Christ in the King's Adventure Land," will be theme. Preschool age children from four years old, and students through sixth grade are invited. Mrs. Charles Marrs will con duct the school, which will be made up of beginners, primary and junior departments. Bible studies, memory work, music, handicrafts, workbooks and games will be on the program. Registration will begin Sunday and parents are asked to assist by informing leaders whether their children plan to attend. A program will be given Friday evening, June 22, when work done at the school will exhibited. Parents and friends are invited. A children's day program was conducted last Sunday. Mr Murray has travel ed extensively in the ministry in Africa, the West Indies, Can ada and this country. St. Peters Church ToReceiveMembers St. Peter's Lutheran church, 1020 East Main st., will receive new communicant members Sun day, June 17, in the morning service, by confirmation, adult baptism, and confession of faith, according to the pastor, the Rev. Kenneth F. Korby. At 4:30 p.m a Fellowship dinner will be held in honor of the new members. The children's catechumen class, which has been receiving instruction for the past three years, who will be confirmed are, Joe Bailey, Roberta Daniel- son, Douglas Duin, Roberta Gemaehlich, Curtis Holmes. Film Scheduled At Temple Church "The Land Time Forgot," a colored motion picture which portrays life among primitive tribes of New Guinea will be shown at Temple Baptist church, 794 Lozier lane, Sunday, June 17 at 8 p.m., according to the pas tor, the Rev. Floyd H. Yeats. Work among these people by the Australian government will be portrayed and work of mis sions will be shown. The film is presented by the film depart ment of Bible Institute of Los Angeles, an institution which trains Christian workers. " Recognition Service Set by Methodists A service of recognition and farewell for members and friends of the First Methodist church who are leaving that church to have a part in form ing a new church on the east side, will be held Sunday, June 17. Dr. Raymond E. Balcomb, minister of the First Methodist church and the Rev. John Tay lor, minister of the yet unnamed east side Methodist congrega tion, will participate in the serv ice at the 11: a.m. The Rev. William O. Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Walk er and a student at Boston University School of Theology, will preach at the church Sun day. Mr. Walker is a native of Medford and a graduate of the University of Oregon. One year ago he was elected to Deacon's Orders in the Oregon conference of the Methodist church and will receive the degree of bachelor of sacred theology from the Bos ton school next year. Anthems at the 9:30 a.m. service will be given by the youth choir under direction of Mrs. George Sloniger, and at the 11 a.m. by the Chancel choir, directed by Mrs. C. R. Adamson. Soloist for both serv ices will be Mrs. Stan Lacy. Dr. Balcomb will conduct both serv ices and introduce the guest preacher. Institute Film To Be Shown Today A film, "Facts of Faith," will be shown at First Baptist ,church, North Central ave., at Fifth St., today at 8. p.m. The picture is produced by Moody Institute of Science m Los Ang eles and is a version of "Ser mons of Science." F. Woody; of the Oregon Temperance league, will speak at Eastwod Baptist church, North Keene Way dr., it the 11 a.m. Tuesday service. Mr. Woody's theme will be ' "The Challenge of the Hour." Music will be featured . and nursery care provided. The Rev. Richard Jones, pas tor, is attending the American Baptist convention being held in Seattle, Wash, from June 15-22. This is the annual convention of the churches throughout the United States which cooperate with the American Baptist con vention. Dr. Charles Temple'ton, noted evangelist will be speaker at the closing session. The Rev. Mr. Jones will return to Medford on Saturday, June 23. Eastwood School Schedule Listed Vacation church school will begin at the Eastwood Baptist church at 9 a.m., Monday, June 18 and will continue through June 29. Children between the ages of four and 14 are invited to attend. The school is being planned around the theme, "The Child and the Bible." Activities for the classes include songs, stories, handcraft, a field trip to the city library and an all-school picnic. A program Friday even ing, June 29 to which parents are invited will close the school.
