A joint meeting of the group and of Dramatic Order, Knights of Khorassan, will be held at the home Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Johnson, 610 Lane' street, Yreka, Calif., Saturday, June 2. A pot luck picnic supper will be serv ed at 7:30 o'clock, daylight sav ing time, it is announced. ' Members from the Medford area ' are asked to take salads the picnic, able service. and 'their own fluttering " fan, lost out to the more ' direct approach such as fluttering eyelashes about the same time men stopped giving up subway seats to ladies. The new parasol plan has nothing to do- with subtle fam inine come-on signals to admir ing swains. It is a practical keep-off 4he-sun - technique - f o r beach beauties. - . We're over-scorching our skins each summer, skin experts warn repeatedly. The healthy glow that turns to a dark tan and fin ally fades Jo a disappointing pallor takes a serious toll. The parasol, says skin expert Georgette Klinger,- would save a lot of faces. "Never, never, never lie in the sun with the face directly ex posed to it," she said emphatic ally. "Despite popular belief, sun tannjng the face does not help the skin and it can hurt it. Skin on other parts of the body can be sun tanned more safely, but the face should be protected." Miss Klinger says all women should iObserve the same face protecting rules, whether their skins are dry, oily or normal. "Sunburn acts as a temporary coverup of some face blemishes Society To Hold Annual Meeting Southern Oregon Historical so ciety will hold the annual meet ing Monday, June 4, in the Masonic hall, Jacksonville. Miss Claire Hanley, president, states that election of officers and a visit to the Jacksonville museum are on the program for the day. Dinner will be prepared and served by members of Adarel chapter, Order of Eastern Star, at 6:30 o'clock. Reservations may be made by calling the president at Medford 3-2675: Mrs. T. J. They still are there and can be even more prominent after the sunburn fades." Miss Klinger, who created her own cosmetics line arid also has a skin-tending salon on Madison avenue, advises women to "take -your face sun under a parasol." Diffused Sun Rays Parasols won't bring back the pink and white complexions that went with their owners half a century ago, she admits. Even sitting under a parasol in the hot sun allows plenty of diffused sun rays to color the skin. "But they will help avoid the freckles and dark spots that" never leave the face after . too much sun," she said. "And they will prevent the struggle to soften and smooth the top layer of skin which almost all women have after a summer in the sun." The parasol makers are all for. the plan, naturally, but they say progress is a stumbling block to a boom in their business. vou II walk awav t with all the honors in beautiful TT k ...
