They are Leon McDougall, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Mc Dougall, 315 Perrydale avenue,' who was elected vice-president; Bill Russell, son of Mrf and Mrs. David Russel, 1139 West Main street, secretary - treasurer, and Jack Henry, 113 Rose street, rep resentative at large. His mother, Mrs. Beulah Welch, lives at Glide. Installations were held May 7 at Jackson hotel. Member Honored By Mistletoe Club Mistletoe club members held a shower May 9 at a dessert luncheon meeting and shower party in Girls Community club which honored Mrs. Alfred In low, the former Miss Geraldine Gidney. Games were played and tables were decorated with spring flowers. Refreshment committee mem bers were Mrs. D. N. Fraysher, Mrs. Irvin Patten and Mrs. A. L. Hadley. Next meeting will be a public card party at the Girls Com munity club on May 23. PHONE 2-7554 Ceremony At Church Weds Pair Miss Donna Fern Walker be came the bride of Henry Lowell Stevens in rites read by the Rev, Melvin E. Lee at Free Methodist church April 29. The bride, . a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward Walker, 19 Rose street, is a Medford high school student, and the bridegroom is serving with the Air Force at Klamath, Calif. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Stevens, 20 Lincoln street, and also attended Med ford High school. The couple made their wed ding trip to Merced, Calif., and the bride has remained here with her parents while the bridegroom has left for his station. About 120 guests attended the ceremony.' The bride wore a white baller ina length gown and her flowers were. small rosebuds and carna tions. . ' Miss Sally Tucker, Selma, honor attendant, and Miss Janet Swift, bridesmaid, both cousins of the bride, wore matching pas tel blue gowns of ballerina style. Miss Tucker carried yellow car nations and Miss Swift pink car nations. Alice Mae Harper, jun ior bridesmaid, was dressed in pink and her flowers were white carnations. The flower girl, Leah Grace Harper, wore a matching gown of yellow and carried pur ple lilacs. Lilacs decorated the church. Mrs. Noble Day, a cousin of the bride, furnished the wedding songs, accompanied by Mrs. Rob ert Vinson, an aunt of the bride. The reception, attended by about 100 guests, was held at the home of the bride's parents. -f- Republicans Plan Silver Tea Soon A silver tea has been planned by Jackson County Republican Women for Monday, May 21, at the home of Mrs. J. C. Boyle, Ross Lane. Hours are to be 2 to 4:30 o'clock. The tea is in honor of Mrs. Collis Moore, Portland, national R e publican committeewoman, and Mrs. Frank C. Bash, Med ford, chairman of Jackson Coun ty Republican central commit tee. Special recognition is also being given Republican precinct committeewomen during the event. Mrs. Weldon Kline is the gen eral chairman for the tea and is being assisted by Mrs. Stephen G. Nye as house chairman. Mrs. Calvin B. Francis is in charge of refreshments, and Mrs. -Warren Hammond is transportation chairman. Transportation will be furn ished from the YMCA at 1:45 p.m. for anyone needing it. Beta Sigma Phi sorority chapters of Medford and Ashland held the annual Founder's day banquet and dance recently at the Jack son hotel, the event commemorating the 25th anniversary of the group. . During the evening each chapter announced the member selected as Girl of the Year. The five winners are (front row, left to right) Mrs. John Austin, Alpha Sigma, Ashland; Mrs. Curt Butterfield. Mrs. Paul Dix was mistress of ceremonies for the event. Huge paper murals depicted the 25th anniversary, Greek let ters, and ritual table of Beta Sig ma Phi. The tables had intertwin ed streamers with yellow roses dotted down the length. Black, gold and silver was the color scheme. . Giving the Beta Sigma Phi grace was Mrs. Howard Blew. Mrs. Gunvor Clute, Ashland, read a message from Walter W. Ross, the founder of Beta Sigma Phi. The Founder's day pledge was led by Mrs. Nick DeWitt, with all members participating. Mrs. Larry Allen, Beta Sigma Phi City Council president, and Mrs. Oris Goble, vice-president, conducted installation of city council officers for the next year. Installed were president, Mrs. Nick DeWitt; vice-president, Mrs. Derrel Beard, Ashland; re cording secretary, Mrs. Howard Blew; corresponding secretary, Mrs. Irving Thompson; and treas urer, Mrs. Carl Christenson. Announcing their chapter achievements for the year were Alpha Rho President, Mrs. Tom Lytle; Gamma Zeta, Ashland, President, Mrs. Fred Roberts; Beta Upsilon President, Ashland, Incoming President Mrs. Fred Korthase; Xi Mu President, Mrs. Edgar Mbir; and Past City Coun cil President, Alpha Beta, Miss Jacqueline Walker. Highlight of the evening was the presentation of "Girl of the Year" awards. This award is the highest honor a chapter can con fer upon a member. Receiving the awards from their respective chapters were XI MU, Mrs. Roy Stein; Alpha Sigma, Ashland, Mrs. John Austin; Alpha Rho, Mrs. Curt Butterfield; Alpha Be ta, Mrs. Robert Hubbard; and Beta Upsilon, Mrs. Arthur Brooks. Barney Beaton's orches tra played for the dancing which followed the program. Members of Medford's newly formed silver anniversary chap ter were given their second de gree of Beta Sigma Phi, at the home of Mrs. Mel Hogan, Siski you court, Tuesday. The ceremony was presented by the city council president, Mrs. Larry Allen, with the assist ance of Mrs. Oris Gobel, Mrs. Roy Stein, Mrs. Paul Thompson and Mrs. Curt Butterfield. Mrs. Goble was in charge of plans for the evening. Pledges receiving the ritual of jewels were Mrs. Walter Smith, Mrs. R. L. Palmer, Mrs.' Paul Morris, Mrs. Jack Cannon, Mrs. Robert Hamilton, Mrs. M. H. Par son, Mrs. Douglas Christensen, Mrs. Warren Wolf, Mrs. Gerald Von Ting, Mrs. Howard Blew, Mrs. Wayne Wright, Mrs. John Selby, Mrs. Arthur Brooks and Mrs. Wayne Harris. Mrs. Robert Schroeder also compleded pledge training but was unable to at tend. , Refreshment prepared by city council members were served following the ceremony. Installation of officers for Xi Mu chapter of the sorority took place at the home of Miss Anna L. May, May 9. Mrs. J. Edgar Moir conducted the ceremony and the new officers are pres ident, Mrs. John S. Nelson; vice president; Mrs. Steve Saimons; secretary, Mrs. William Pren tiss and treasurer, Miss Anna L. May. Exemplar Day will be observ ed May 23, Wednesday, with the ritual for eligible exemplar members. Chapter to Observe 20th Anniversary The twentieth anniversary of the group will be observed when Chapter BE, PEO, meets at the home of Mrs. Fletcher Fish, Phoe nix, Tuesday evening, May 15, at 8 o'clock. Miss Katherine Stew art and Mrs. W. E. Holmes are in. charge of the program. Chapter CG will meet Wednes day, May 16, for a one o'clock luncheon in the home of Mrs. Dick House, 15 Corning court. Following the luncheon a pro gram will be presented by Mrs. Robert Lee. Chapter CP will meet Wednes day, May 16, at 12:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. John Graff, 31 Geneva avenue. Mrs. Leonard Mayfield is assistant hostess and Mrs. Ed Strother is in charge of the program. Reams Social Club Announces Luncheon Reames Social club will meet Wednesday, May 16 at Medford Masonic Hall for a pay luncheon and card party. Crowned prom queen was Miss Dorothy Bou cher. Lawrence Wagner, presi dent of the junior class, placed the crown on Miss Boucher's head during the ceremonies and she was presented a bouquet of red roses. Princesses were Miss Nancy Bradley, Miss Irene Bringmann, Miss Judy Farrar, Miss Katie Herburger, Miss Janet Robinson arid Miss Patricia Leaher. Hono rary princess was Miss Mona Lee Prefontaine. They were pre sented miniature nosegays. The banquet which preceded the prom was prepared by the homemaking class directed by Mrs. Altha LeRoy. Mothers who assisted were Mrs. Lee Miller, Mrs. Orvis Reeter, Mrs. Harold Towse, Mrs. Louis Wagner, Mrs. Flores Leyen, Mrs. Harold Mc Kenzie, Mrs. Lathel Stevens and Mrs. Cedric Herburger. 'Serving were seventh and eighth grade students. Invocation was given by the Rev. D. F. Barnett. Laurence Members! Guests Attend Meeting Sojourners' Club About 60 members and guests of Medford Sojourners' club met Thursday at the Pythian hall. A large arrangement of yellow tulips and snowballs with yel low candles decorated the des sert table. Hostesses were Mrs. Lawrence E. McConnell, Mrs. Robert Billingsley and Mrs. Rob ert Lewis. ; New members welcomed were Mrs. Ernest Dittmer, Mrs. Tom Moore, Mrs. Forest VanVleck and Mrs. William E. Smith. Mrs. Dick Neese was a prospective member attending for the first time. Mrs. Edward S. Peer from Los Angeles, Calif., who was a member of Medford Sojourn ers about fifteen years ago, was introduced. Birthday greetings were extended to Mrs. Clifford Grlffitts. Following dessert and roll call, cards were played. Bridge prizes went to Mrs. M. L. Nelson and Mrs. Gene Chamberlain. Pinochle prizes went to Mrs. James Winslow and Mrs. Clar ence Byrd and canasta awards were won by Mrs. Owen Lud wick and Mrs. Henry Robertson. A special award was given to Mrs. Dick Neese. The next meeting of the club will be May 24 at the Pythian hall. An invitation is extended to newcomers, who have resided in Medford and vicinity less than two years, to attend and become members. Wagner, also welcomed those who attended and responses were made by Miss Cary Phil lips, president of the senior class, and Bill Weaver, student body president. John Harr, su perintendent, and William Hunt er, high school vice-principal, commended the Juniors for their work in planning the event.' Music was provided by Paul Adams' orchestra. . ' Mother's Day Program Announced for Lodge Mothers day observances will be conducted by Degree of Honor lodge members Monday, May 14 when they meet at 8 p.m., in the Redman hall, 216 Apple street. Those who attend are requested to wear suitable flowers, white for those whose mothers are deceased and red for those whose mothers are living. Practice for inspection also will be' conducted. t Use Tribune Want Ads Auxiliary Names Contest Winners Shady Cove Buddy poster contest winners were announced at a meeting of the auxiliary to Steelhead post Friday even ing. First prize was won by Tonie Miller; second, by Canal Garda, and third to Gene Myers. All are students at Trail school. Plans were discussed for a 10th anniversary dinner for the post and auxiliary scheduled for June 1 at 7 p.m. Chairmen were announced for the ensuing year by the presi dent, Mrs. Jim Hopkins. They are Mrs. Frances Miller, Ameri canism committee; Mrs. Dale Sawyer, community service; Mrs. Hopkins, Oregon cottage; Mrs. Ed Learning, rehabilitation; Mrs. Jim Cassal, hospital; Mrs. Charles Harkness, cancer; Mrs. Tom Merit, refreshments, and Mrs. Harry Birch, publicity.
