Mr II. 1SSS Program of Church Represented in Anniversary Rites Eagle Point About 120 per sons attended 50th anniversary fervices at Eagle Point Com munity Bible church May 6. The Rev. Floyd Pollock, former pas tor, gave the address on the theme, "That Ye Go Forward." The program represented three types of work in which the church participates. Piepresenting Sunday schools were Jane and Ruth Westover and Doris Corliss from the Ante lope area, who sang. The Rev. and Mrs. Elcho Red ding and children, Mary Ellen, Miriam and LeRoy, sang in the Marathi language. The family is here on furlough from the Evangelical Alliance Mission in India. They were in. native Ind ian costume and represented the foreign mission work which the church supports. Charles Sturgill, representing home missions, also sang. The choir, directed by Miss Gayle Turner, furnished songs. Included in the program was dedication of an organ recently presented the church as a gift , from friends of the institution. Mrs. Tom Shearin was organist. A ground - breaking ceremony for an educational unit to be con structed soon was done by the elders. They are J. C. Lusk, Carl Esch and J. H. Stanley. The pastor, the Rev. Joseph Mun shaw, also participated in that ceremony. A reception was held and as sisting at the tables were Mrs. Ray Arthur and Mrs. Lusk. Deaconesses in charge were Mrs. Harry Hanscom, Mrs. David Kahl, Mrs. Darrel Stanley, Mrs. Ben Kingery and Mrs. Shearin. IntercKurcK Program Set To Open Here on Sunday An inter-church daily devotional program, to be sponsored by the Medford Council of Church Women- nd the Medford Minis terial association will begin next Sunday. Wide participation by members of local churches is anticipated The program consists of a daily time of prayer and worship in individual homes for an eight-day period. For each day of the week there is a story of real life shared by a Christian family which is to be read aloud. The stories, from the devotional booklet, '"Pages of Power," then are discussed in the family group. Prayer and Bible reading con cludes the worship. In many oi the participating churches, sermons emphasizing the value of Bible reading and the importance of worship in the home will be preached. Sunday. At these services the congrega tions will receive materials to guide them in family and indivi dual reading periods. Announcing the beginning of the inter-church Bible centered activity, the Rev. Escil Hiser, chairman of the daily devotions project committee, said, "Through this program in Med ford, our people will seek to find strength of spirit and a clearer understanding and ap preciation of the role . of our Bi ble in daily life and worship. "Because basic attitudes to ward religion are developed through the relationships of the family, the coming week of fam ily worship has high significance for those whose lives are enrich ed by such Christian experience," he added. The Daily Devotions program is an officially adopted emphasis of the Oregon Council of Church es, with resources and counsel from the committee on the use and understanding of the Bible, division ot Christian education, National Council of the Church es of Christ. Displays in three store win dows on Main st., and programs by the local radio stations will also call attention to this community-wide program. Following this week of em phasis the radio recordings, de signed to promote the use of the Playlet To Depict Weil-Known Hymn Central Point "Just As I Am," a 20-minute playlet depict ing the spiritual experience of Charlotte Elliot, author of the hymn, "Just As I Am," will be given by four young people of Central Point Church of Christ, at their Vesper hour, 7 p.m., Sun day, May 13. The hymn tells the personal spiritual experience of its author, an invalid English girl of the 19th century. The cast includes, Charlotte Elliot, played by Brenda Ben nett, her mother, Mrs. Elliot, by Alice Cane, Mr. Elliot, by Dennis Kottke, and the minister, Dr. Mi lan, by Jon Frederick. The plav will be preceded by a brief tiik on "The Purpose of Life," given by the pastor. Vis itors are invited. Mrs. Clarence A. Meeker, wi dow of the late mayor of Med ford, and editor of "The Metho dist Woman," now residing in New York City, will attend the service of dedication. On the Roll Far more than half the people of the United States have their names on church roll books. In all probability your name if included. When the Roll... We sing, "When the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there." "The Lord Jesus told certain to rejoice that their "names were written in Heaven." Elsewhere the Bible speaks of names being "written in the Book of Life." It is one thing to hav your name on a church roll; it is altogether something else to have it on Heaven's roll. Having your name on a church roll is good, if it is a truly Christ honoring and Bible lov ing church (otherwise it is of no value whatsoever), but church membership it self does not necessarily indicate enroll ment in Heaven. The Lord does not make up His roll from church rolls. "When the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there" may be mere words telling something that will never be true. Only they are enrolled in Heaven who have be come Christ's true disciples "here, who have wholeheartedly turned from sin to the Savior, "who have washed their robes and made them white in. the, blood of the Lamb."
