Roosevelt arrived in Medford Monday afternoon for a brief visit in the city she was greeted at the airport by a large delegation, including Mayor and Mrs. Earl Miller. Mayor Miller is shown here welcoming the distinguished visitor arfd pre senting her a bouquet of flowers. Mrs. Roosevelt spoke that evening for the sixth annual Roosevelt Memorial banquet, held at Hedrick High school. During the Roosevelt Memorial dinner the guest of honor, widow of the late President Roosevelt, was presented an international hon- ' orary membership in Beta Sigma Phi sorority. The sorority's badges and a scroll were presented by Mrs. Jonathan Middleton, Alpha Rho chapter. Seventy-five sorority members from chapters in Medford, Ashland and Grants Pass attended the dinner and were seated at a special table. About 1,400 persons from all parts of Oregon attended the dinner. kiMh'Mjy I Til ' f ' -1 X- I -svy jV" -sJ Tuesday morning Mrs. Roosevelt was honored at a reception sponsored by Medford' chapter, Oregon United . Nations association, and held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Rease Braley, 245 Valley View drive. Mrs. Roosevelt, formerly the United States representative to the United Nations General Assembly, is shown here with her hostess, Mrs. Braley, and Lawrence Solin, UN chapter president. Mrs. Roosevelt is now chairman of the board of governors of the American Association for the United Nations, and spends a major share of her time traveling and speaking on behalf of the UN. She discussed phases of the United Nations at the memorial dinner Monday evening, and flew to Oakland, Calif., Tuesday afternoon to speak at a UN sponsored dinner in that city. v; During the informal reception which Medford chapter, Oregon United Nations association, gave for Mrs. Roosevelt, Tuesday morning in the Braley home, she was presented a check for $100 from the chapter for her UN work. Lawrence Solin, chapter president, is shown making the presentation. Among those present to meet and hear Mrs. Roosevelt were (left to right) Mrs. Herbert Sampert, Mrs. Harlan P. Bosworth Jr., Miss Noreen Kelly and !Mrs. Ralph Thompsen, who is pictured seated back of Mrs. Braley. Mrs. Roosevelt spoke to the group and urged those interested in the United Nations to help spread information concerning the good being accomplished by the specialized agencies. UN members from Eugene and Klamath Falls also attended the reception. u ,:. . "wsfe ft-,-'?! I Mrs. Roosevelt and Mrs. Honeyman, who first met many years ago as young women, were guests Monday night of the Kellys at their home on West Fourth street. Tuesday morning the two visitors had breakfast in the kitchen since the dining and living rooms were swarming with photographers, reporters, radio men and movie camera operators who were preparing for the press conference held about 8:45 a.m. The breakfast menu included cinnamon rolls which Mrs. T. E. Knackstedt, friend of the Kellys and a fine cook, had prepared as a treat for the visitors. The two visitors also sampled a glass of quince jelly, o.gift from Mrs. Mike Walsh. ; . . . During the press conference held early Tuesday morning at the Edward C. Kelly home Mrs. , Roosevelt was interviewed by reporters.
