Royal Couple Sails Toward Spain on Yacht; Friends Predict Grace's Return To Movies Villefranche, France (U.R) Princess Grace and Prince Rain ier sailed today toward Spain on their .Mediterranean honey moon. Friends predicted she would return to pictures within a year if a baby does not intervene. The Royal couple apparently spent their wedding night aboard Rainier's yacht Deo Juvante II anchored in a peaceful cove just 100 yards offshore from the Prince's villa on Cap Ferrat, ten miles from Monaco. Lights burned late in the villa but the yacht sailed on the flood tide this morning without any bjats putting out from shore ex cept for those containing curious newsmen. All the newsmen got was a shrug from the crew of the yacht. The yacht passed off Cannes at 11 a.m., bearing seaward on a westward course that would take it toward Spain. Original reports said the honeymooning couple would first visit Italy, but ' Italian officialdom was only con fused by the conflicting reports. Sailor Grace Other reports said the yacht might put in at the Balearic Islands but the Hollywood ac tress and her Prince were so anxious to escape the crowds they left their destination pur posely vague. ' , The flower - bedecked yacht rode out of Monaco harbor yes terday afternoon to the cheers of thousands and the bursting of skyrockets, but it encounter ed rough going and high winds and Rainier headed for Ville franche's tjuiet harbor. There have been reports that Grace is not a good sailor on rough seas but even those re ports were disputed by some. ' Almost before the yacht was out of sight of the thousands who jammed the waterfront to see the couple depart, Grace's friends were predicting a return to the movies for the Hollywood queen. Intrigued by Monaco Locale Close friends said Grace be lieved at first that being a prin cess was a full-time job but that she was now intrigued by the idea of making a movie whose locale would be Monaco or whose story would involve Monaco. "I think she'll be back in pic tures within a year, unless a baby intervenes," said a friend. The very thought of an heir vns also uppermost in the minds of Monegasques who retain their freedom from French taxation and military service only if the succession to the throne is as sured. Hodges of Salem said here today he is not resigning from his post with the Republican state central committee as previously re ported. Hodges is administrative as sistant to Wendell Wyatt, state GOP chairman. It was announc ed earlier this week that Hodges and Clyde V. Brummell were both resigning from central committee employment after completing precinct organization work around the state. Hodges said he never had any intention of -resigning and was at a loss to account or the announcement. Thomas, OPERATION AIRED West Newbury, Mass. (U.R) Alcide Bergeron, 40, gave his friends a "stitch-by-stich" ac count of his operation. Bergeron who underwent surgery for an abdominal ailment, is a "ham' short wave radio operator. He rigged a portable set at his bed side and flashed out daily and hourly reports of his recuperation. Though China produces about half the world's, tea, almost all of it is conusumed by China's 582,000,000 inhabitants and little is available for export. Senior Visitation I Program Listed Ashland Senior visitation weekend's program has been an nounced by Larry Lund, Klam ath Falls, general chairman. Vis itiation days are Friday, Satur day, and Sunday, with registra tion scheduled for incoming high school seniprs between 7 and 8 p.m. today. Students will be assigned rooms and hosts and hostesses, and- will attend two - dramatic productions, "The Proposal," by Chekov, and "Submerged," . by Cottman and Shaw, presented by the SOC players at 8 p.m. in Churchill hall auditorium. Main item on the agenda is a report prepared by a commit tee to lay out the society's dif ferences with the school on such policies as admission of patients and hiring of staff members. The report was prepared before the latest dispute over the so ciety's veto of a request for fed eral funds by the school. IMPROVEMENT PLANNED Rome, Italy (U.R) Transport Ministry officials said today they are considering installing "auto matic railway conductors" which announce train stops and other information better than the usual grouchy train employees. Old Red Fire Alarm Box Said on Way Out Chicago (U.R) The old red fire alarm box is on the way out. The International City Man agers' Association reported that two-thirds of all fire calls in the average city now are received over home and business telephones. In some cities, the association said, the figure is as high as 80 per cent. Many cities have installed spe cial telephone emergency re porting systems to replace . or to supplement the traditional fire alarm box, the association said.
