Monte Morris, a staff member
of radio station KYJC the past
three and one-half years, has
been named station program di
rector replacing Jack Nelson, it
was announced yesterday. Nel
son will join the sales division
as an account executive.
Morris has developed a local
following on his quiz-type shows
and on his early-morning and
mid-morning record shows. He
will supervise selection of music
for all local programs in his new
capacity.
Considerable Experience
Nelson, a graduate of the
Northwest Broadcasting school
in Portland, has had consider
able experience dealing with
retail merchants and as an ac
count executive will devote most
of his time to selling and servic
ing local advertising accounts.
He also will handle announc
ing assignments on the after
noon disc jokey shows.
Ivan Ekberg, a ten-year radio
veteran from KMPC in Holly
wood, will take over early morn
ing announcing duties. The per
sonnel changes are in line with
the KYJC policy of providing
listeners with the best in local
programing in addition to sched
ules of the CBS and ABC net
works, acording to James Dun
levy, manager."

Churches Called Upon
To Face Problem of
Maintaining Ethics
Pittsburg (U.FD--The church
es of the nation were called upon
last night to face the problem
of maintaining Christian ethics
in a booming economy with real
ism. The call was scheduled to
come when the official message
of a National Study Conference
on the Church and Economic
Life is unveiled to the 400 del
egates attending the four-day
meeting sponsored by the Na
tional Council of Churches.
The delegates were expected
to adopt the message at their
final session on Sunday.
Dr. Justin W. Nixon, Rochest
er, N.Y., chairman of the 25
member committee which draft
ed the message, said the docu
ment will delineate the relation
between the nation's present
record economy and the ethics
of the Christian faith.
Summons Churches
Nixon said the message would
summon the nation's churches
"to realistically face the prob
lems presented by general pros
perity." He said the document
will speak only for the confer
ence and not for the council of

bureau were solidly opposed to
the bill.
Shuman said the bill contined
a major conflict between the soil
bank program which was resign
ed to shrink agricultural output
and the rigid supports which
would increase the production
incentive.

the Vancouver Mounties to an
11-2 Pacific Coast league, rout

Dagres got four of the Moun

Father Grant, a professor of
philosophy at Loyola university,

cal knowledge about permanent
damage to the brain caused by
knockout blows," he said.
