Judge Rules Building
Contracting Illegal
Grants Pass U.R) Circuit
Judge O. J. Millard ruled here
Friday that the practice of the
Josephine county unit school
board of doing its own building
contracting was illegal.
The ruling was made on peti
tion of a group of Grants Pass
contractors who cited a section
of state law limiting the power
of school boards and requiring
expenditures of more than $2,000
to be placed for competitive bid
ding. The school board recently
built its own shop at Cave Junc
tion at a cost of about $5,000.
Ages of the 3,064 University
of North Dakota students range
from 16 to 67.
