body in Rome pays for office
space when they can get it for
a cup of coffee, I'll never under
stand. Sometimes, of course, the
overflow spills out into the Via
Veneto and especially into the
sidewalk cafe, Doney's, next
door.
I Remember

cific Grange in Josephine coun
ty, were guests at the last, regu
lar meeting of Roxy Ann Grange
March 16.
We were also glad to welcome
our new members, Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Larson, who formerly
lived in Harney county. Among
our guests at the previous meet
ing March 2, were Mr. and Mrs.
Barney Lewin of Phoenix
Grange, whose names were
omitted by mistake.

will be Friday, April 6, with the
young people of the Grange on
the serving committee.

Bible College Choir
To Present Concert
Pacific Bible college a cappela
choir members will present a
concert at the Medford Salva
tion Army citadel, Fourth and
Bartlett sts., Monday, April 9
at 7:30 p.m., Lt. George John
stone, announced today.
This will be the only appear
ance of the choir in southern
Oregon. The public is invited
to attend the concert.
The program will include an
thems, spirituals, hym-arrange-ments
and gospel songs. Jack
Arthur Rains is conductor and
organizer of the group and he
is in his tenth year as dean of
the school of music at the col
lege. Rains also is a composer
and arranger and has been a reg
ular contributor of articles to
"Accent," a national periodical
for chorat conductors.

Child Guidance Meet

Francisco, chief of mental health
service in the western region
for the United States Public
Health service, will sneak to-!
night at the annual meeting of

The dinner meetine will start I
at 7 p.m. at Hedrick junior high J
school and the program willj
start at 7:45 p.m. ;
Dr. Schumacher and two of
his staff members, Miss Frances
Williams, nursing consultant,
and Raymond Craie. Dsvchiatric
social worker, arrived in Med
ford Tuesday. They are conduct
ing a studv of mental health
aspects of the public health pro
gram in Jackson county and are
expected to make recommenda
tions for improvement of the
program.
Observe Clinic
The trio started today's sched
ule by observing the county's
cniia guidance clinic in opera
tion. Dr. John Waterman of the
state board of health; Dr. Nor
man Suntag, psychologist from
teh University of Oregon; and
Miss Mary Vandenbere. Dsvchia
tric social worker, conducted the
clinic.
At noon the workers mpt wilh
the administration and person
nel committee of the guidance
clinic board.
Wednesday morning, Dr. Schu
macher and his staff members
consulted with various profes
sional people in Jackson county
and met with co-chairmen for
study groups of the county Par-ent-T
eacher association and
mental health chairmen of the
county public health association.
Purpose of the meeting was to
discuss the training program for
leaders of the various study
groups.
Lone Pine Study Group
Also during the morning Miss
Williams accompanied Miss Dor
othy Collard, Jackson county
nursing supervisor, to a meeting
of the Lone Pine study group.
The family counseling service
that has been under considera
tion here for several years was
the discussion subject Wednes
day noon when the visitors met
with the county mental health
committee. Members of the com
mittee on problems of the aging
and inter-agency council also at
tended the session.
At a 3 p.m. meeting, Dr. Schu
macher and staff members dis
cussed the school health pro
gram here with the joint school
health committee. The commit
tee is comprised of school prin
cipals, school superintendents,
representatives from the health
department, president of the
medical society and a member
