berg. Camp White, returned by
plane Thursday from Louisville,
Ky., where they attended the
wedding of Miss Mary Louise
Flynn of Louisville to the
Schoenbergs' son, Richard A.
Schoenberg.
The ceremony was held Febru
ary 24 in the chapel of Highland
Methcdist church at 8 o'clock
in the evening. Dr. Edward Fisk
Norton performed the rites.
Mrs. Allyne Lynn was matron
of honor and Willis Weber
served as best man.
Only relatives of the two fam
ilies and close friends of the
couple attended.
The reception was held at the
home of the bride's brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs.
Andrew Gies, also in Louisville.
They made their honeymoon
trip to Cincinnati, Ohio, and
the couple is living at 714 Hazel
street in Louisville.
The bride attended schools in
Louisville and also the Univer
sity or Louisville.
The bridegroom, a graduate
of University of Oregon and
American Institute for Foreign
Trade in. Phoenix, Ariz., now is
engaged in an executive train
ing program with Brown and
Williamson Tobacco corporation,
Louisville, Ky. He is scheduled
for a foreign assignment in the
near future.
On the return trip Dr. and
Mrs. Schoenberg stopped in Chi
cago and visited with friends
from Rockford, 111. Dr. Schoen
berg visited the Veterans Ad
ministration Training center
there. At Lincoln," Neb., they
visited relatives.

afternoon with choices of bridge,
pinochle or canasta.

Receives Honor
At Willamette
Miss Margaret Huson, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Hu
son, 45 Lindley avenue, was
chosen coed of the month by
Associated Women Students
cabinet at Willamette university,
Salem.
The student is a past president
of AWS and a past president of
Mu Phi Epsilon, national music
honorary society. A senior and a
music major, Miss Huson was
vice-president and song leader
of her sorority, Delta Gamma,
and was 1954 Betty Coed.
Plan Party
Degree of Honor lodge will
conduct a public card party
Monday, March 12 at 8 p.m., in

Couple
In Denver
Miss Leora Marie Andrews be
came the bride of Dr. Joseph Al
len Braden at a nuptial mass at
St. James Catholic church, Den
ver, Colo., Saturday morning,
February 4. The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter
H. Andrews, 216 Laurel street,
Medford, and Dr. Braden is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Bra
den of Hondo, Tex.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a chapel
length gown of Chantilly lace
and nylon tulle over white satin.
The fitted bodice had a dropped
waistline, and a portrait neck
line outlined with heart shaped
motifs of seed pearls and white
sequins. The matching lace cap
with the same motif held a finger-tip
illusion veil.
She carried a white orchid
and white hyacinths and wore a
single strand of cultured pearls,
a gift from the bridegroom.
Miss Colleen Page, Oakland,
Calif., and Miss Jann McCord,
Berkeley, Calif., were attend
ants for the bride. They wore
street-length frocks of cornflow
er blue velvet and powder blue
taffeta with matching accessor

After a two-week honeymoon
by auto and plane the newly
weds are at home in Houston,

Mrs. Braden attended schools
in Portland and Gold Beach,
Ore., and San Diego State col
lege where she was a member of
Alpha Phi. Dr. Braden is a
graduate of A&M college of
Texas.
The bride's parents and Mrs.
Eda Richardson of Medford were
in Denver for the wedding.
St. Patricks Day
Theme of Meeting

of Medford Sojourners' club at
the Medford Hotel Thursday.
New members welcomed into
the club were Mrs. Ted Shura,
Mrs.. Murl Storms and Mrs.
Owen Goodrich.
Newcomers for the first time

Loren Slye, Mrs. H. J. Cum

tions. Birthday congratulations were

Medford Women
To Travel Abroad
Among Medford residents
traveling in Europe this spring
and summer will be Mrs. W. A.
Thompson, 135 North Holly
street, and Mrs. William. H.
Fluhrer, Lyman avenue.
Mrs Thompson, who left Med
ford some time ago, is now visit
ing a sister, Mrs. C. B. Drake,
Norfolk, Va. She will sail from
New York April 25 on the S.S.
United States for Southhamp
ton, England. Mrs. Thompson
plans to travel in France, Italy,
Germany, Holland and Switzer
land before returning home in
June. ;
Since arriving in the east Mrs.
Thompson has visited the cities
of Richmond and Williamsburg
and also spent some time in
Washington, D. C. Mrs. Thomp
son and Mrs. Drake attended
sessions of the United States
senate on passes supplied by
Senator Byrd of Virginia.
Mrs. Fluhrer will leave Med
ford about the middle of this
month and will sail March 20
for Italy. There she plans to
join Dr. and Mrs. W. W. Al
drich, former Medford residents
now living in the Hawaiian is
lands and who are on a round-the-world
trip.
The three will take delivery
of a car and tour Europe by

a week with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Huenergardt,

The student attended Rogue
River academy and did his pre
medical work at Southern Mis
sionary college near Chatta

Democratic Women To Give
Series of Teas in Valley
Women of. the Democratic
party in this area have begun a
series of teas to raise money for
their party's campaign funds.
The first in the series was given
Thursday afternoon at the home
of Mrs. Robert A. Boyer, 649
South Ivy street. Democratic
candidates for national and state
offices are expected to attend
some of the events.
Mrs. Mark Norton, Phoenix,
and Mrs. Larry Sheehan, Rogue
River, will be hostesses for teas
during the week of March 12 to
17. Mrs. Sidney Ainsworth and
Mrs. L. P. Wilmeth, Ashland, and
Mrs. Robert B. Duncan and Mrs.
Harlan Bosworth Jr., will enter
tain the week of March 19 to 24.
Mrs. George Watson and Mrs.
W. G. Werner plan similar events
the following week and others
who will participate at later
dates are Mrs. Scott Hamilton,
Mrs. Edward C. Kelly, Mrs. Wil

Frank E. English
Mrs. Rosella L. Theesfield,
and Frank E. English, were mar
ried in a small ceremony Satur
day, March 3, in the Fireplace
room of First Presbyterian
church. Dr. D. Kirkland West
officiated for the double-ring
service.
The bride, a daughter of Mrs.
Leda Durand, 1431 East Main
street, wore a plum purple suit
with lavender orchid corsage for
the ceremony.
The newlyweds spent their
honeymoon at Newport, Ore.,
and are living at the East Main
street address for the present.
Four Generations
Guests at Party
Four generations were repre
sented at a party March 7 which
observed the birthday anniver
saries of twin sisters, Mrs. E. B.
Van Horn and Mrs. Delores
Young. The event was held at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis
Cox at Grant acres, Central
Point. A potluck dinner was
served.
Mrs. Lily Lay, mother of the
twins was at the event, and oth
ers who made up the four gen
erations there are Mrs. Van
Horn, and her daughter, Mrs.
Lee Lucas, and Mrs. Lucas'
daughter,. Mary Lucas.

Traveler Honored
At Birthday Party

bile home owners March 4 at
Organ Pipe National monument,
Arizona. The occasion observed
the 73rd birthday anniversary
of Mr. Summers.
Over 50 persons attended and
the Summers were presented a
gift. A lunch also was served
out-of-doors.

A Cappella Choir
To Give Concert
Here on Friday
The 60-voice a cappella choir
of Lewis and Clark college of
Portland will present a concert
in Medford Friday, March 16, at
8 p.m., in First Presbyterian
church. Said to be one of the out
standing choir of the west, the
erouri is on its eiehth annual tour
of cities in Oregon, Washington,
Idaho, and California.
Director of the choir is L.
Stanley Glarum, member of the
music faculty of Lewis and
Clark, whose compositions are
daved and sung in many church
es of the United States. Critics,
pleased by the tonal quality and
technical skill of the choir, have
greatly praised Mr. Glarum, the
church states.
With "Mvsic in the Finest
Choral Tradition" as its motto,
the choir interprets the music
of outstanding composers of
choral works.
Miss Dorothy Wymore, a mem
ber of the choir, is a granddaugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Hon,
213 Crater Lake avenue. Miss
Wymore, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Earl W. Wymore of Port
land, is attending Lewis and
Clark on a scholarship won when
she was a senior at Grant High
school in Portland.

Wisconsin Couple
Visitors in Valley
Mr. and Mrs. Merle Wood,
Clear Lake, Wis., are visiting in
the valley this week end. They
arrived Friday and first visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Archie Olson,
Winchester avenue, and now are
with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Blank
at Phoenix. The Woods are for
mer Bend residents but have
lived in Clear Lake for a number
of years. This is their first visit
to the Rogue valley.

Krows Traveling
South by Motor
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin A.
Krows, 1215 East Main street,
left last week for an automobile
trip to southwest states and
Mexico. They plan to return
about April 10 and their travel
route includes Tucson, Ariz.:
Mazatlan, Tepic, Guadalajara,
Morelia and Mexico City.

Contest Winner
Miss Nancy Jennings, daugh
ter of Dr. and Mrs. George S
Jennings, 218 Saginaw drive,
was awarded a $25 Raider schol
arship at Southern Oregon col
lege as winner of a contest in
sales coverage for this year's
yearbook at the college.
She is a major in elementary
education and is member of the
"Siskiyou" staff, and the Drama
club at the college.

To All-State Group
Thirteen Medford Senior High
school orchestra students have
been selected to play with an
all-state high school orchestra in
Portland, March 14, 15 and 16.
Jacob Avshalomov, conductor of
the Portland Junior symphony,
will direct the 150-member or
chestra and the group will ap
pear in concert Friday afternoon,
March 16 at the Portland civic
auditorium.
Thev will perform before
members of the Oregon Edu
cators association meeting there
in convention. Radio broadcasts
and telecasts will be made in the
Portland area.
Those who have been selected
from here to appear with group

stead, Molly Walker. Ruth Phil

Earl Days Home
From Trip South
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Day, Blue
Moon ranch, have returned
home after spending six weeks
in California and New Orleans.
The Days were' guests of Mr.
Day's son-in-law and daughter,
Comdr. and Mrs. Thomas Dur
kin in New Orleans, and attend
ed the Mardi Gras.
The commander will be trans
ferred soon to a new Navy as
signment at the Naval Air base,
Olathe, Kan., where he will be
a jet flight instructor.
Before returning to Medford,
the Days spent some time in
Mississippi and in various Cali
fornia cities.

ham, and other relatives and to
meet Mr. Smith's mother, his sis
ter and brother-in-law.
The latter group, is arriving
here this week end from Jack
sonville, N. C'. They are Mrs.
Louise Smith and Master Sgt. .
and Mrs. P. F. Folz. The Folz
family is in transit from Jack
sonville to Oceanside, Calif., his
next station.
The Smiths moved from here
about five years ago.
