Txiitj, Match 2, 159 Presbyterian Men To Report Meeting "Reports of the third annual western area conference of Pres byterian men will be given at both services of the Presbyterian church Sunday morning. The conference was held last week end at the Sheraton-Palace hotel in San Francisco with an at tendance of over 1,500 men from eight western states. Major speakers were Dr. Eu gene Carson Blake, president of the National Council of Church es, Dr. Elton Trueblood, former head of the religious department of the US information agency, and Howard Pyle, deputy as sistant to the president of the United States. Theme of the con ference was, '"Your Reasonable Service." Eighteen local men were in attendance." At the Sunday services, Sam Harbison, Fred Gatter, Hugh Mc Lelland, Lloyd Evans, and Dr. D. K. Baptists Continue Plan To Read Bible Members of First Baptist church' in Medford are engaged in a united effort to read through the entire Bible in a year. The plan was suggested last January as an aim for the new year. The group has just completed the reading of the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Old Testament. , The method employed by the people to accomplish their aim is to read three chapters daily with an additional two chapters on Sunday. In order to stimulate interest in the program, the pas tor, the Rev. J. W. Neely, bases both his Sunday sermons on texts taken from the reading of the previous week. The Wednes day evening Bible study is de voted to giving an outline of the chapters being read, and any problems encountered in the reading are dealt with at this time. The sermons this week will be from the book of Joshua. The morning message entitled, "Per manent Values in the Book of Joshua," will be taken from Joshua 14:7-10; and the evening sermon, "A Warrior's Last Stand," is based on Joshua 24. Orient Pictures, Speaker Announced At Friends Church Guest speaker and singer at Sunday school at 9:45 a.m., at the Friends church Sunday will be Ronald Crecelius, Portland, member of the Four Flats quar tet, who is currently holding evangelistic meetings at the Tal ent Friends church. Mr. Crecelius will show pic tures of the Orient taken on the missionary tour which the Four Flats quartet made during Sep tember and October. He will tell of his experiences singing be fore various groups and doing evangelistic work among stu dents, villagers and in mass meetings in Japan, Korea For mosa and the Philippines. At 11 a.m., pastor Clynton Crisman will speak on "Sir, We Would See Jesus," one of a series of pre-Easter message s-from Christ's last, week of ministry before the crucifixion. The. choir will 1 sing. Junior church and nursery will be conducted. At 6:30 p.m., three Christian Endeavor societies will meet. In termediates will present the fi nal acts of a play on the life of William Penn. Both they and the Junior group are having a series of lessons on the history of the Friends church. Seniors are re viewing a book, "Friends in Aymara Land," telling of the development of Friends mission work in Bolivia, South America. At the 7:30 p.m. worship hour the pastor will speak and music will be furnished by a young people's ensemble group. To Honor Infants At Nazarene Rites Members of the Cradle Roll de partment and their parents will be honored Sunday at 10:45 a.m., at ' the Medford Church of the Nazarene, First and Holly sts. The department is made up of 80 babies. Mrs. Rhea Klukkert, supervisor for the group, and Loren Scheel, Sunday School su perintendent, will explain work of the department. A dedication service will be conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Raymond W. Hum. As part of the day's activities : three-year-old children will be advanced from the nursery to the beginner department. The pastor's theme will be, "The Importance of Family Re ligion," The church is engaged in an annual Sunday school at tendance campaign. Valley View Church Projects Under Way Investment projects for the Valley View Seventh-day . Ad ventist church have gotten un der way with the aid of the leaders, Mrs. Opal Hairter, and Mrs. Perl Fjarli. The projects are used to raise money for world wide missions and to sup port missionaries. Included is gardening, saving Liberty Bell half-dollars, selling books and cards, handiwork and others. The goal for 1956 is $840, Alaska is one-fifth as large as the continental U.S. r ii 2: r a DR.- R. A. PANZER Guest Speaker Sacramento Pastor Slated As Speaker Dr. Robert A. Panzer, of the First Methodist church, Sacra mento, Calif., will be guest preacher for Lenten Sunday eve ning service at the First Meth odist church here March 4, at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Balcomb will lead the service and introduce Dr. Panzer. The Cnancel choir, under di rection of Mrs. C. R. Adamson will sing two anthems from "The Holy City" by Gaul. An informal coffee hour serv ed by the Ruth Esther Wesleyan service guild, honoring the choir and the visiting minister, will follow the service. Dr. Raymond E. Balcomb will begin a new series of sermons under the, general theme, "The Story About Jesus" Sunday, at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services on the topic, "His ' Cross." Frank Laubach's film, "Each One Teach One" and also the film by CROP, "The Least of These," will be shown at the Church of the Brethren Sunday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. , The film, sponsored by World Literacy, Inc., depicts work among millions of illiterates in India and Is in color. Actual scenes will be shown in market places, streets and homes. The film shows the change in living conditions resulting from the i-' struction from American experts in agriculture, child care and hygiene, given in simplified yet practical lessons. The film by CROP, (Christian Rural Overseas . Program) is in black and white. This is the first showing of this film in Medford. It , is a film which covers the needy areas of the world and what is being done to help. The film is loaned by the agency. There are 4,016 miles of rail road in Colorado. Light Unitarianism To Be Subject; Faith Explained Unitarianism will be the dis cussion topic for a meeting of Unitarian fellowship set for Sun day, March 4 at 7:30 p.m., at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bauman, 213 South Barneburg rd.
