Here are a few ways o pretty-up Lenten meals.

either in individual casseroles or in one large casserole. The seasoning

of the ever-popular creamed fish casserole. o
DeTiled Seafood With Corn Flake Topping
2 tablespoons butter or
margarine
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon salt
H teaspoon paprika
2 cups milk
2 eggs, beaten
lVa tablespoons lemon juioe
1 teaspoon grated onion
J teaspoon Worcestershire
V sauce
2 cups flaked, cooked, seasoned
seafood
i cup slightly crushed corn
flakes, bran flakes, or
whole wheat flakes
Melt butter, add flour, salt, and paprika. Stir to a smooth paste.
Add milk gradually; cook over low heat, stirring constantly until
thickened. Remove from heat and blend in eggs, lemon juice, onion,
Worcestershire sauce, seafood, and of the crushed cereal flakes.
Pour into individual casseroles or shells. Sprinkle remaining cereal
crumbs over top. Bake in moderate oven 1350 to 375F.) about 20
minutes. Yield: 6 servings.

To Be Filed in Oregon
Portland (U.R) The name of
President Eisenhower will be
filed in the Oregon primary elec
tion next Monday or Tuesday.
Paul Kerrigan, chairman of a
committee circulating petitions
to put the President's name on
the Oregon Ballot, said the
necessary 1,000 signatures have
already been collected and are
ready to file. He said more sig
natures from up-state counties
would be collected before the
petitions are filed with the sec
retary of state.

A meeting of the Rogue Basin
Flood Control and Water Re
sources association will be held
at 9 p.m. Friday, March 9, in
the Jackson county court room
to encourage more interest from
the Medford area in flood con
trol. Bill Jess, president "of the as

cepted a preliminary draft of
articles of incorporation and by
laws at a meeting in Grants
Pass.
Jess urged anyone interested
in flood control to attend the
Medford meeting.

Sgf . York's Son Eyes
Career in Air Force

The son of World War I hero Sgt
Alvin York is stationed at Lack
land Air Force Base and hopes
to pursue a career in the Air
Force .
The son, 18-year-old Thomas
Jefferson York, said he is con
vinced a cajQr as an Air Froce

The York home is on a farm
near Wolf River, Tenn. There
the son used to go hunting with
his famous father, a renowned
rifleman even before he began
his World War I military service.
"I'm a pretty good shot, too,"

The only son in the York fam
ily said he preferred a shotgun
to a rifle on hunting trips.
The elder York became ill two
years ago and is confined to a
wheel chair. He was called the
nation's No. 1 soldier in World
War I after he killed 25 Germans
and captured 132 in the Argonne
Forest.
Young York has been assigned
to Flight 168 of the 3704th Basic
Military Training Squadron. He
was sworn in by Tennessee Gov.
Frank Clement and flew here in
a commercial airliner. He attend
ed York Institute at Jamestown,
Tenn., and worked on his fa
ther's farm before volunteering
for Air Force service.

In fact, I may do that this year
and get married!"
Zsa Zsa's advice: "A woman
never should try to make a man
jealous by flirting with other
guys. Men are afraid the woman
will be fickle."
