TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE County Shriners To Hold Dance A formal dinner dance will be held by Jackson County Shrine club Monday, February 20 at Rogue ' Valley Country club. Cocktails will be served at 7 p.m., and dinner at 8 p.m. Music will be furnished by John Lusk and his orchestra. Special entertainment will be furnished by Al Mortara, Oak land, Calif., a member of the Oakland Aahmes temple. John Lusk and his orchestra will f urn ish the dance music. MAIN EST. 1908 Mr. and Mrs. Michael Paul Wrede (Landis-Shangle photo) Miss Sybil Nannette Furry -Married to Michael Wrede Phoenix Among recent wed dings was that of Miss Sybil Nan nette Furry . to Michael Paul Wrede on Saturday, February 11. About 100 guests attended the double ring ceremony which was read by the Rev. Nicholas Deis at Sacred Heart Catholic church, Medford, at 1:00' o'clock. The church . was decorated with baskets of large white chrys anthemums arranged at both sides of the altar, and the pew ends were marked with white ribbon bows. The bride is the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs.1: Ray mond A. Furry of Phoenix and the bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Carl Wrede., and the late Mr. Wrede of Hollywood, Calif. For her wedding, the bride wore a dress of white lace and nylon tulle over white taffeta. Her fingertip veil was held by a crown of lace" trimmed with seed , pearls, and she carried a bouquet of white orchids and stephanotis. Her sister, Mrs. Michael J. Popow, was her only attendant. She " wore--a- ballerina length mint green dress of crystalline' fabric with matching head piece of net.. Her flowers were white carnations and pinkrosebuds.. . J Elmer Faytinger, uncle of the bridegroom, was best man- and Michael J. Popow and Fred Furry were ushers. Bruno Pelle grini furnished organ music. The bride's mother wore a sheath dress of rose color flecked with silver and white accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore a full skirted dress of gold print with brown accessories. Both wore corsages of camellias. , The reception was held at the Old Oregon motel in Phoenix which is the former home of the bride's grandparents, the Fred Furrys, and has been in the past the scene of many such gather ings. Mrs. Bert Stancliffe and Mrs. Gordon Germer served the wedding cake while Mrs. Elmer Faytinger and Mrs. O. E. Frazier served the punch. Darilyn Popow,' niece of the bride, and Bonnie Faytinger, cousin of the bridegroom, were in charge of the guest book and gifts. Pink carnations and lighted tapers decorated the table. " Here for the wedding were the bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Carl Wrede,1 Hollywood; the bride's giandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Spannaus, Yreka, Calif.; 'Mr..: and Mrs. Ed.Stang, Klamath Falls, Miss Shirley Dud ley, Corvallis and Mr. and Mrs. Les Spannaus of Dorris, Calif. The bride is a graduate of Phoenix High school and the University of Portland where she received a bachelor of science degree in nursing arts. The Furry family is a pio neer one in Jackson county. (Landis-Shangle photo) Travelers Home After Vacations January and February are the months when Rogue valley residents enjoy winter vacations, and many are away now or have recently returned home. Among those returning last week were Mr. -: and Mrs. C. Rease Braley, Valley View drive. The Braleys made stops in San Francisco and Los Angeles, spent some time at Palm Springs, Calif., and Phoenix, Ariz., and also were in Las Vegas, Nev. In Phoenix they-enjoyed visits with Mrs. Don Newbury, . Mr. and Mrs. Earl Leever and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Leever, all former Medford residents. The group spent an evening together and, after, cocktails at the Earl Leever home dined together at The Steak House. - .- While away the couple spent some time with Mr. Braley's son, Lt. Charles Braley of the United States Navy, his wife and, two children,1 Menlo Park. Lt. Braley is enrolled at Stanford university in California as part of his Navy duty. In Pasadena Mr. and Mrs. Bra ley visited Mrs. Braley's son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Patton and three sons. Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. Nor ris, 1900 Hillcrest road, arrived home the first of the week from a 10-day trip to San Francisco and Carmel. In San Francisco they we're joined by Mrs. Glenn Smith, former Medford resident now of Orinda, Calif.; who trav eled, with the Norrises to Car mel. ' '' In both cities they visited friends and in San Francisco at tended a performance of "Anni versary. Waltz:'-' ::' Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Coleman have returned to their home on East Main street after a winter vacation in Palm Springs, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. George Vilas, 201 Valley View drive, spent several weeks in California and Nevada,- returning home last week. They visited first in San Francisco and continued on to Los Angeles and were there dur ing the recent floods. ' In Palm Springs they watched playoffs of the Thunderbird golf tournament and- en route north the couple spent several days at Las Vegas. Returning to San Francisco the ' Vilases were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. , Watler D. Brown. Mr. Brown is a former Medford resi dent and now a retired San Francisco bank, official. The Los Angeles and will be home after February 20 at .Yuma, Ariz., where the bridegroom is stationed with the USAF. . Medford Sorority Chapters Sponsor Valentine Parties Among the many valentine parties held in Medford in recent days were two given by sorority members. Beta Sigma Phi held the an nual Valentine dance at the Pio neer room of the Jackson hotel last Saturday night and approxi mately thirty-five couples at tended. Hearts and cupids on the walls gave a festive Valentine atmosphere for the event. Alpha Rho chapter sponsored the dance this year and invited members from the other active chapters of Beta Sigma Phi in Medford. After : the banquet Belle Van Dyke's orchestra play ed for dancing. ' Highlight of the evening was the presentation of valentine Linfield Orchestra Booked in Medford The Chamber Orchestra of Linfield college, McMinnville, Ore., will present a concert at Eastwood Baptist church, North Keen way at Ridgeway, Friday, February 24, at 8 p.m. The or chestra is directed by Professor Milo Wold. The public is invit ed to attend the concert, and no admission charge will be made. .. The orchestra numbers nine college students who have been chosen for their ability and mu sicianship, . it is stated, The group specializes in presenting works of many composers infre quently heard. v The group is currently on tour in northern California. Professor Wold, chairman of the music department ; at . Lin field college, is an author and violinist. Browns were served an especial ly prepared duck dinner. Miss June Anderson, 101. Cra ter Lake avenue, and Miss Pat Beaudoin, arrived home Monday evening from San Francisco where they spent several days. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Anderson, Ashland, drove down to meet their daughter and Miss Beau doin and the four drove home together. Among Medford vacationers at Palm Springs recently were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Miksche, 164 Greenway circle, who arrived home last week after being away for two weeks. Mrs. John Mann and daugh ter, Mrs. John G. Crawford, ar rived home by car early last week, from San Francisco. Mrs. Mann went south to meet her daughter and son-in-law and Mr. Crawford continued on business to New Jersey, arriving home Friday. Mr 15 N.
