1 TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Karrick-Robinson Rites Held at Episcopal Church St. Mark's Episcopal church was the scene of the wedding of Miss Alicia Robinson to Theron G., Karrick Jr., on Saturday, Feb ruary 4. The marriage ceremony was read at four o'clock in the afternoon by the Rev. George R. V. Bolster, rector, with about 200 guests attending, The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon J. Robinson, 1917 East Main street, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Theron G. Karrick, 101 6. Murray street. The altar vases were filled with white stock,, and two tall baskets held white stock and pink snapdragons. . Mrs.' Ernest' Conrad was or ganist, and Ward Smith was soloist. j The bride's wedding dress was of Alencon lace, designed ballerina style with long fitted bodic&and very full skirt. It was worn with a long-sleeved bolero. The bride's finger-tip length il lusion veil was held by a crown of seed pearls and, she wore a strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. Her bouquet was of white roses and stephanotis. The bride's two sisters, the Misses Delia and Elena Robin son, were her attendants. They wore ballerina frocks of pale green net, with close-fitting bodices and -bouffant .skirts. Their headresses were of pink velvet trimmed with silver braid and net and ' they carried, pink babj roses with pink and white hyacinths. Terry Foster, Edward Zawislak, Daniel Marmo and Claude Mor gan seated the guests. ' The reception was held in the parish hall of the church. Miss Mary Jo Zawislak took charge of the guest book, Mrs. John Kovenz served the wedding cake and Mrs. Horace Thompson the punch. The bride's cake was encircled with yellow'rosebuds and maiden hair and white candles, tied with yellow rosebuds and ferns, stood at either side. Rosebuds also dec orated the. punch table, and branches ' of f orsythia and green ery were used to decorate the parish hall. For 1 the wedding and recep tion the bride's mother wore a black satin coat dress with black accessories and the bridegroom's mother was attired in a navy blue taffeta dress with pink accessories. Their corsages were white ' gardenias. The newlywe.ds traveled north to Portland for their honeymoon, and will live at 20 Laurel street in Medford. The bride and bride groom . are both graduates of Medford High school and the bridegroom is on the staff of the Medford hotel. Evening Guild To Give Supper Members of St. Mark's Eve ning guild will have their hus bands as guests for a valentine buffet supper Monday, February 13 at 6:30 p.m., in the Parish house. February 12. 195S Nazarene Ceremony Pair News of interest here is the wedding January 28 at Pasa dena, Calif., of Miss Adelirie Newcomer" and Richard E. Smith. Thex bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernie Newcom er of Phoenix, Ariz., and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Roy E. Smith, 31 Wash ington street, Medford. He is a student at Pasadena college and the bride is employed there in the registrar's office. Parents of both the bride and bridegroom were present for the wedding which was held in Bre see Church' of the Nazarene. About 20(kpersons attended the rites, read by the Rev. Richard Graley, of Lake Street Church of Nazarene, Glendale, Calif., a cousin of the bride. He was as sisted by the Rev. Dave Sharp, Central Church of the Nazarene, Pasadena. Baskets of red and white car nations decorated the altar .and pew ends were marked with car nations and ribbons The bride wore a chantilly lace and nylon tulle gown over satin trimmed with sequins and made with chapel train. Her fin gertip veil was held by a crown trimmed with sequins and pearls and she carried a bouquet of white carnations, roses and or chids. Her twin sister, Miss Madeline Newcomer, was the honor at tendant. Miss Betty Tyree was bridesmaid and Mrs. Dean Shaw, a cousin of the bride, was brides matron. All are from Pasadena. Their princess style gowns were of red velvet and they carried bouquets of white carnations. Lee Beaty was the best man and Larry Stamper and David Leech ushered. All are of Pasa dena. Music was furnished by Cliff Curl, organist, arid Mrs. Dave Sharp and Jim Carden, soloists. Both the mother of the bride and the. bridegroom wore navy blue suits with white accessories and their corsages were of white orchids. A reception was held at the church. . . The bride is a graduate of Phoenix Union. High, school. Phoenix, Ariz., and attended Pasadena college. She was a member of her class council and a student body council member. The bridegroom attended Med ford High school. and served for three years in the Air Force. He received his discharge in De cember, 1953, and since has at tended the college where he , is majoring in social service stud ies.' The couple is living at 1757 Woodbury . road in . Pasadena. They plan to visit here in the summer. Valiey Doctors Plan Visit to - South America Dr. Otto Emig left Friday by plane for Los Anegeles on . .the first part of. an extended trip. In the California city he will attend a meeting of the Assemb ly Obstetricians and Gynecol ogists of Southern California. : Dr. and Mrs. Alvin Roberts, Central Point, will join him there and the two physicians will continue by plane to Mex ico City where they will "be met by the Rev. and Mrs. Dean Gregory. Mrs. Roberts will re main in Los Angeles to visit with relatives before returning home. The Rev. Mr. Gregory is sup erintendent of the Friends Ore gon yearly meeting conference and Dr. Roberts will make a sur vey for the conference. . Continuing south the group will enplane from Mexico City to Guatamala where Dr. Emig will visit the Presbyterian op erated American hospital at Guatamala City, and Dr. Roberts and , the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Gregory will visit the Cali fornia ' Quaker mission. After stopping in El Salvador they wil go to La Paz, Bolivia. In La Paz the physicians will visit! lor 10 days, Dr. Roberts with a brother, Mark Roberts, and Dr. Emig with- a close friend, Dr. Jose Valle, a native practicing physician in La Paz. The Gregorys will remain in La Paz for a longer visit. Mark Roberts-is a Friends missionary doing educational "work and supervises schools out from Lake Titicaca in the Andes. Dr. Roberts will make a survey there of medical facilities and effects of altitude ori the mis sionaries. -; " Dr: Emig and Dr. Roberts will stop at Lima, Peru and Quito, Ecuador, on their return and both plan to arrive home about March 19. To Speak Phoenix Miss Virginia Mac Kenzie of Shimonoseki, Japan, will speak to members of Wom en's association of the Phoenix Presbyterian church'' Thursday, February 16. The executive com mittee will convene Tuesday at 1:30' p.m., in the home of Mrs. Roscoe Owens. The bride is the younger daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Burt L. Lageson, groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. The Rev. Nicholas Deis, pas- tor of Sacred Heart church, cele brated the nuptial mass at 11 o'clock in the morning, and a wedding breakfast for 100 guests followed at Rogue Valley Coun try club. For her wedding the bride wore a gown of traditional white satin. It was fashioned with close-fitting bodice, long sleeves and small collar, and the full skirt ended in a train.. Her finger-tip veil fell from a cap of lace and . seed pearls and she carried white orchids . with stephanotis. Mrs. James Vranizan, Port land, was honor attendant for her sister and the'f our additional attendants were Miss. Sylvia Mc Cabe and Miss Shirley Boitano, Medford ' students who came from Seattle for the wedding, Miss Jan Williams, Seattle, a sorority .sister:,of the bride, and Mrs. William Herman,. Medford, a cousin. .." 'v ' The attendants wore frocks of coral red velvet with matching pill-box hats, and their flowers were shell pink carnations. XJay Kinzel, Portland, was flower, girl. Her velvet dress matched that worn by the other attendants. - ' ; The bride was escorted to the altar by her father, and Larry Reverman, Portland, was best man for his brother. Mr. and Mrs. Reverman are living in Portland, where the bridegroom is a sales .trainee with the Fairbanks Morse com pany. The bride attended the University of Washington, where she affiliated with Alpha Phi sorority, and later attended Northwestern Business, college, Portland. S 10 Teacher Named President of College Alumni Ashland Miss Elayne Leach, formerly of Medford and now a teacher in the school, at Condon, Ore., was elected president of Southern Oregon Alumni asso ciation for the coming year, at the annual meeting. Fellow officers for the coming year are Roland Parks, principal of the Ashland High school,' who succeeds Bruce Metzger, Med ford, as vice-president; and Ar thur Phillips, SOC assistant pro fessor of education, who was voted secretary-treasurer to replace- Mrs. Ted Schopf, Talent, who served in that capacity last year.
