Fire Spreads Fire, originat ing from the flue, extended to a wall, the ceiling and the roof Friday at the J. W. Holgate resi dence, In the Forest Acres sub division off Table Rock rd. Chief Richard Krupp said the owner and neighbors had the fire out by the time the Central Point rural district truck arrived. The blaze was discovered by a mem ber of the Forest . Green Detec tive agency... Rummage Sale The Parents' club of St. Mary's High school will hold a rummage sale Fri day and Saturday, Feb. 17-18, in Sacred Heart Parish hall, 326 South Oakdale ave. Hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The committee in charge of the sale stresses that since this is the first sale sponsored by the group, this will be the first time the articles will have been of fered at a rummage sale. On Television A program demonstrating heart examina tion will . be presented on tele vision today at 5:55 p.m. with Dr. Ralph Hibbs, Dr.. Oscar Hey erman 1 and Dr. Ray- Casterline participating. Robert Dickey of Medford will take the role of a patient. Thefts Reported Theft of a motor scooter owned by Dennis B. Halsey, 141 Ashland ave., was reported Friday to Medford police. Halsey said it was taken from his residence. Lura Lou Bailes, 1128 -West 11th st., re ported the theft of silverware valued at $80-$90, which was taken from her home- sometime in the past month. Hubcap thefts were reported by Robert W. Hill, 420 Laurel st., and Lucile E. Copeland, 937 Alta st. Electrical 'Fires Firemen were called at 3:48 p.m. Friday to a fire at Consolidated Freight ways, 703 North' Central ave. An electric heater shorted out, causing it to overheat, firemen said. They reported no damage to the rest of the building.. At 1:25 p.m., a car fire was report ed at 228 West Sixth st. A short caused wiring to the headlights of a car owned by Henry Bur- meister to burn. Firemen discon nected a battery cable. held at 3 pjn. Monday in the Rogue River. Hope Presbyterian church. Marcus was born Oct. 31, 1948 in Medford. He was a student in the second grade at Rogue riv er. Besides his parents, other sur vivors include two sisters, Mrs, John Wentling, Rogue . River, and Sharron Smith at home; a grandmother, Mrs. Sue Smith, Medford; a grandfather, A. E Chinburg, Loveland, Colo.; and a grandmother, Mrs. Bessie L Smith, Alhambra, Calif.; and several' other relatives. Woman Hurt in Fall Names Church in Suit Cleveland, O. U.R) Mrs. Lida Melaragno filed a $50,000 damage suit against a church charging she was injured at a wedding. She said the church was negligent" in not cleaning rice off the steps from an earlier wedding, causing her to fall. Among his survivors Is a brother, D. C. Hawkins, Spo kane, Wash. On July 13, 1919, at Pendleton, Ore., he was married to Carrie Belle Lane, who survives. Besides his wife, other sur vivors include three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Peterson, Portland; Mrs. Lottie Foltz, Kingsports, Tenn.; and Mrs. J. A.
