TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Monday, January 23, 1955 Sorority Members To Assist Agency; Party Announced Mrs. Ray Frisbie was guest speaker for a business meeting of Alpha Beta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority held Janu ary 19 at the home of Airs. R. J. Higgins, "H" Ideal court. Mrs. Frisbie talked on the Vol unteer Agency for Control of Cancer, and a question period followed. Chapter members vot ed to assist the local cancer vol unteer group in preparing band ages for cancer patients and Mrs. Frisbie briefly demonstrated the method used in processing these bandages. The business meeting was con ducted by the president, Mrs. Nils Edin. The cultural program entitled, "You and Your Aud ience" was presented by Mrs. Oris Goble. Guests at this meeting were Mrs. Douglas Eden and Miss Muriel Acheson. Plans were announced for a costume party which will be held February 16 for sorority mem bers and guests. Refreshments were served by the hostess and Mrs. Robert Vin cent. The next meeting will be held on February 2nd at the home of Mrs. Austin Murray, 1709 Len ora drive. Corps Announces Anniversary Event Medf ord Ground Observer corps is making plans for an open house February 5 to ob serve the second anniversary of the Medford post. First plans for the anniversary celebration were made at a meeting January 16. Seventy volunteers attended. Richard Southard, supervisor of he new post in Sams Valley spoke during the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Buxton. Wheat land. Ia.. were zuests. The Bux tons supervise a post at Wheat land, and Mrs. Buxton has a 1,000 hours of sky watching to her credit. Sergeant Poulson presented a 500-hour bar to Mrs. Harry Goold. A film was shown. Social Club Meets At Brownell Home Nevita Social club held the firsf meeting of the year Janu ary 16 at the home of Mrs. George Brownell. Mrs. D. R. Allred was co-hostess. Twenty two members attended. Activities for the coming year were planned under the direc tion of Mrs. Wyles Berry, the new president. Mrs. Melvin Mc Grew, past president of the club and the new matron of Nevita chapter. Order of Eastern Star, attended. Auxiliary-Guild Elects Officers; Schedules Session Mrs. Lewis Wayburn is the new president of St. Mark's aux-iliary-guiid. Mrs. E. N. McKin stry is first vice-president and Mrs. John Bunker, second vice president. Other new officers are Mrs. H. C ,Beeler, recording secre tary; Mrs. John Deaver, corres ponding secretary and Mrs. B. C. Richards, treasurer. A meeting of the group is set for Friday, January 27, at the church. Luncheon at 12:30 o'clock will be followed by the semi-monthly business session. Grand Guardian To Visit Bethel Tuesday Evening Mrs. Velma Green. Portland, grand guardian of Job's Daugh ters in Portland, and Roy Col burn, associate grand guardian, will attend a meeting of Bethel 55 in Medford Tuesday, January 24. It will be held in the Pythian building beginning at 7:30 p.m. Miss Janet Perry, the new queen of Bethel 55, and her corps of officers will conduct initiation. All members of Job's Daugh ters, their parents and persons of proper Masonic relationship are invited to attend. About 8,000,000 suburban and farm homes now use liquefied petroleum gas. Forty-six members and two guests were present. Robert Dames spoke briefly on the purpose and objectives of the International Association of Lions clubs, prior to initiating Weston Fowler, Davd Haggard, William Ruck and Elmer Woods "Jt0 Phoenix Lions' club. Mrs. Robert Dames outlined the importance of being a member of the Lions' auxiliary. Mrs. Marvin Fisher and Mrs. E. R. Claflin performer a candle light initiation ceremony for Mrs. Weston Fowler, Mrs. David Phoenix 4-H Club Xhe 4-H club in Phoenix met Friday night and chose the name Phoenix 4-H club. They had a few more members to sign up. Patty Kidwell was elected song leader. For entertainment, Patty Kidwell, Joyce Hunter and Kar en Golding sang and played the piano. Virginia Martin, Reporter. Haggard, Mrs. William Ruck and Mrs. Elmer Woods. Each woman was presented a Lions' International auxiliary pin by her husband. A report on the progress of the March of Dimes campaign was given by A. H. MacKintosh. Dr. M. D. McGeary reported on future money-raising project of the Phoenix Lions club. Dancing followed the initiation. Family Night Is Planned by Jefferson PTA Jefferson Parent-Teacher as sociation plans a family fun night in the school cafeteria Thursday, January 26 at 6:30 p.m. A potluck dinner will be followed by games. The event is planned as a fund raising project, and a charge per family will be made. Each family is to take a vpot luck dish as designated by the grade children attend. Grades 1 and 3 are to take a hot dish, grades 2 and 4 a salad, and grades 5 and 6 and special room, pie, cake or cupcakes. Each dish should serve 8 to 10 people and should be brought for the lower grade if there is Buttons and Bows Club The first meeting of the But tons and Bows club, Central Point 4-H sewing group, was held Friday, Jan. 13. The meeting was called to order by last year's president, Jane Grubb. Glenda Branch was elected the new president. The next meeting .will be Jan. 27 at the home of Mrs. P. Snook. Wanda Davis, Reporter. more than one child in school. Coffee, milk, rolls, and service will be furnished. The feature of the evening will be games and stunts under the direction of Ron Weather ford with both children and par ents participating.
