TWELVE MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Sunday, December 23, 1953 Expect 10 Chambers For Workshop Here A one-day workshop and train ing program for southern Ore gon and northern California chambers of commerce has been tentatively planned for ! Satur day, Jan. 21. Ten chambers will be invited to participate Aims of the program are to train new committee chairmen and members, as well as cham ber presidents and board mem bers, in the foundation and or ganization of a chamber of com merce, according to a spokesman for the Southern Oregon Cham bers of Commerce. The sessions are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. and close with an evening banquet. Sgt. Horan Resting Following Five-Day Ordeal In Cascades Fort Lewis U.R Sgt. John M. Horan rested comfort ably at Madigan Army hospital here Saturday after his five-day ordeal in the Cascade mountains. Horan had a bail out of a spininng AiroForce plane Sun day and walked out Thursday afternoon at the Rustic Inn near Easton. Stan Thomas of Ellensburg said he had planned to go to his cabin near Lake Kachess last Monday to shovel snow off the roof. The cabin is where Horan stopped Monday. Thomas was called in on the search for the lost paratrooper and never made the trip to his cabin. "If I had gone to the cabin I would have run right into him," said Thomas. Tearful Reunion Horan and his Japanese wife, Teruko, held a tearful reunion Friday at Madigan hospital. It was a happy Christmas for the Horans in more ways than one. Doctors believe Horan will fully recover from frostbitten feet he suffered when he walked thru deep snow drifts to safety on a pair of improvised snowshoes made out of refrigerator racks. Thomas had some more good news for the young paratrooper. '"The Sergeant desirt have to worry about paying for the win dow he broke to get into the cab in," said Thomas. A.
