Prince Rainier, 32-year-old ruler of the tiny principality of Monaco, is the latest royal bach elor to land on our soil. He will spend two months traveling around the United States. . Regular Visits Prince Christian of Hanover, 36-year-old brother of Queen Frederika of Greece already was here. He comes over for regular visits to escort the town's pret tiest models and society girls to night clubs and theaters. They are the kind of princes a girl would be proud to take home and introduce to the fam ily. Prince Christian is tall, curly haired and handsome enough for a movie star. Prince Rainier is shorter than his pictures indi cate, a little on the stocky side, but definitely better looking than he needs to be "with all his other qualifications. But it is best to be honest about the' average, American girl's chances of marrying one of them. Even meeting one of them, as a'matter of fact. Prince Christian moves in cafe society circles when he visits. And even the beauties in this set haven't been able to snag him. Only Princess Margaret's name has been linked with his recent ly as a possible wife. A" queen's hrnthpr obviously has a lot of international angles to consider when he picks a wife. No Hurry To Marry Prince Rainier seems marriage-minded, but those who watched' the good - humored prince when he answered report ers Questions after he arrived last Thursday came away with a picture of a young man in no hurry to take on a wife.' 'The prince demonstrated the diplomatic evasiveness of bache lors the world over. He said he liked girls who look natural, not elamor eirls. Yet he admittedly liked Grace Kelly very much, and in most American neighbor hoods Miss Kelly is a glamor girl. ' The prince belittled his own qualities as a husband a polite bachelor dodge by saying his wife would have to have "many qualities . . . because I'm a hor rible character." He indicated he thought an American wife might be nice, but on the other hand he said he wasn't looking for a wife this trip. 4 To ProDOse Increase In UN Security Council . Manila, P. I. (U.R) Vice-President Carlos P. Garcia said to day the Philippines will propose an" increase in the U.N. Security Council's present membership of 11 countries. The amendment he said would give equitable representation on the council to all regions and take into consideration' the expansion of the world organization from 60 to 75 member nations. 7 CALENDAR CaJendar notices tnd newt for the society section of The Mail Tribune must be submitted in writing and deadline for the Sun day edition is 1 p.m Friday Dead line for the weekly calendar is 9 a m of the day of publication and for week day news is 5 dj the day before oublication Thursday 7:30 p.m. Wenonah club, Mrs. R. Via fit hh Vl' As We Live By ELIZABETH HU3LOCK, PH.D. Being a Good Sport Can Be Important Although a boy treats a girl like a sister, he may fall in love with her. A tactful handling of the situation can turn the trick. (Q) "I am a fres h m a n in college and have met a boy I like very much. We have dated a lot all during the fall Dr. Herlock and I thought he liked me as much as I like him. The other day, he asked me if I would put up in my room a girl friend of his from his. home town who is coming as his guest for one' of the proms. I was so shocked and taken by surprise, I didn't know what to say. Does he think I am stupid enough to entertain his girl friend when I thought he liked me or is he just dumb? "My friends think he has a lot of nerve. They have advised me to tell him I wouldn't think of entertaining his. friend and to drop him. He treats me more like a sister than" a sweetheart and now I wonder if he is in love with his other girl or just doesn't want' to get serious about any girl at this time. He is a freshman, too. What would you advise me to do?' M. E. , (A) Be a good sport about this and put up this girl as your friend has asked you to do. He will certainly arrange to have you go to some of the weekend functions and you could suggest to him that he get someone to take you to the prom so you could have a foursome. This boy may have asked his girl friend from his home town to come to the prom even before he came to college or before he met you. Having her as his guest for a prom in his freshman year may mean no more than that. A Lot in Common If you are a good sport he may decide he likes you better. After all, you and he have been going together and have a lot in com mon. This other girl may not seem so glamorous to him when he sees her again. Then he will turn to you more than ever. If, on the Other hand, you re fused to have her stay with you, he might readily interpret it as petty jealouey on your part and this could end your friendship with him. I think you would be very foolish to follow the advice of your friends in this matter until you are sure he likes her more than he likes you. By GLORIA SWANSON Written For United Press Rome "My Son Nero," the Italian movie in which,' I play Nero's mama Agrippina, has at last got under way. To say that I am the most be wildered person in Rome is an under statement. It is my first Italian film and it is in color and cinemascope an all-round new experience for me. Nero is played by Albert Sordi, a young Italian Bob Hope, so I am told; Poppea, Nero's "girl friend," by the French actress Brigitte Bardot, and Seneca, the philosopher, by Vittorio de Sica of directorial as well as acting fame. Director Pint-Sized "Steno" Stefano Vanzina, our director, is a pint-sized man with, I imagine, the patience of Job" He knows only a few words of English and the most used word in his vocabulary is "patience." Christmas Cards Serve As Holiday Decorations; Display Ideas Given New York (U.R) Let those Christmas cards serve also as. Christmas decoration. Fact of the . matter is, most persons like to look at Christmas cards received by others. That's why it is a good idea to arrange those you receive so they can be seen. A .panelled screen makes an excellent background, and if you're handy with a brush, you can sketch a garland of greenery around the cards. : Intersperse the display with clusters of Christmas balls and pine cones. Keep in mind that you will want to add cards as they arrive, so select a display area large enough' to accommodate the extras. Kaye King, card de signer for one firm, uses this trick to display those she re ceives. She cuts a large sheet of green oilcloth, in the shape of a holly leaf, tacks it to the wall and then pastes cards to it as they arrive, in effect, it makes a large holiday bulletin board. With the addition of a large ribbon bow, you can fix the cards to a large, hollow circle cut from cardboard, and create a wreath for wall, mirror or panel. Wrap the cardboard in red or green crepe paper. Display cards by fastening them to lengths of wide ribbon suspended from the top of a wall or around a wide doorway or arch; pin them to draperies around a central window; tie or paste them to the 'outside of a stairway to give them promi nence in an entrance hall. f HOLIDAY SHORTCAKE Carbondale, 111. So none of us knows what the other is saying. You can just imagine the prob lems this presents to the actors.
