He was on a 15-day leave from Fort Bragg, N. C. Dorsey said the search party planned to comb the western portion of the territory where Horan is believed to be. Yester day, a search of the eastern por tion of the Teanaway river country failed to turn up any sign of the missing paratrooper. Snowstorms and a low ceiling have hampered an aerial search ever since Horan first was re ported missing. Survival Possible Dorsey said Horan is an "ex perienced soldier and might be able to survive. But his chances are beginning to look pretty slim now." Army authorities said Horan left Fort Bragg last Tuesday for Seattle to meet his wife, Teruko, of Miazaki, Japan, and his two children. Horan's outfit returned from Japan in July. Ordered To Bail Out Maj. They picked up Horan as a hitchhiker at Larson 'Air Force Base at Moses Lake and were en route Britain Tightens Control on Arms For Middle East London (U.R) Britain has tightened Mid East arms controls to cut off any further shipments to Egypt such as the consign ment of 15 British tanks that passed through Antwerp to Egypt, the Foreign Office said today. The obsolete Valentine tanks had been sold as scrap to a Bel gian who restored them to fight ing trim and loaded them aboard ship for Egypt yesterday at Ant werp. Asked for comment at today's midday Foreign Office press con ference, an official British spokesman said: Wants To Avoid Arms Race "It is the concern of the United Kingdom government to see that nothing is done to start an arms race. "We have control of the ex port of military and war mater ials." During the past week regula tions governing British export of scrap war material has been- tightened with a view to pre venting eventual deliveries to countries not disclosed at the time the export license was ap plied for, the British spokesman said. He said Britain was unable to intervene in time because of the legal situation. Creditors Shun Willing Payer Clatskanie Farmer Dave Coons, 72, said today he wished some of his creditors would come around so he could pay them, even though legally he doesn't have to. Coons inserted an ad in a Port land newspaper last week in which he said: "WANTED, all of my creditors from 1930 to date. I am ready to pay." So far, he said, he hasn't been approached. Coons, who lives near here, says he has had good financial success during the past 10 years. Besides being a farmer he deals in timber and land. But it wasn't always so. He said a wood and coal busi ness in Portland went bankrupt in 1937 and he left $3300 in un paid bills. In 1927 bad luck re sulted in his owing creditors $26,000 in California. He has paid some $6000 of this. "A debt is forever no mat ter what the law says, so I want to clean them off," he said. Republic of Korea Buys Northwest Wheat Portland (U.R) Republic of Korea has purchased 9500 fons of Northwest " wheat for January delivery. The purchase was 65 per cent soft wheat and 35 per cent hard red winter grade. shipment will be the last of its kind, the spokesman said. GRAIN -NEUTRAL SPIRITS Avowed Candidate Ready To Reveal Campaign Aides Washington (U.R) Sen. Estes Kefauver (D-Tenn.) has tenta tively decided to challenge Adlai E. Stevenson in Florida's presi dential primary next May, in formed sources said today. Formal announcement of the decision could come today. Ke fauver called an afternoon news conference to discuss further his plans for entering state pri maries in his bid for the Demo cratic nomination. He also was ready to announce selection of his key campaign aides. Most Likely Additions Sources close to the lanky Tennessean said the April 3 pri mary in Wisconsin and Florida's primary May 29 are the most likely additions to his primary schedule. He announced pre viously he will campaign in New Hampshire and California. To date, the June 5 California contest provides the only sure meeting between Kefauver and Stevenson. A Florida announce ment by Kefauver would pro vide another. Such an announcement, if not made today, is anticipated soon. Kefauver has been planning a holiday-week trip to Florida wher-e he may appear as a speak er and as a spectator at football bowl games. Aides Well Identified Some of Kefauver's campaign aides became pretty well identi fied in the weeks before he for mally announced his candidacy. F. Joseph (Jiggs) Donahue, Washington attorney and for mer member of the D. C. Board of Commissioners, was expected to be named as campaign chair man. J. Howard McGrath, former Rhode Island senator, and one time attorney general under the administration of former Presi dent Truman, was another ex pected to have some role in the campaign. He was an early sup porter of Kefauver's candidacy. 4-H Club News Eagle Point 4-H Dairy Club The Eagle Point 4-H Dairy club met at the Carrolls' home Dec. 13. The meeting was called to order by President Sally Mongold. Outline of the year's program is to be done by a com mittee consisting of Jerry Mc Donald, Bonnie Gorbeing, and Frances Huffman. David Hughes was named chairman. Larry Tweedy of Medford showed movies on raising good heifer calves. The club will have a holiday party Dec. 27. It will be at the Palm's residence. The mothers are to serve refreshments. Bob McDonald, 4-H club leader, suggested that the club pledge a sum of money for the new hospital in Medford. The club paid a surprise visit to Bob McDonald on his birthday Dec. 11, and presented him with a new leather wallet. Jerry McDonald Reporter Upper Rogue Beef Club The club met Dec. 5 at the home of Henry Conner. Five members were present and he had two visitors. . The discussion was of new "wonder feeds" for cattle in the future. For- the next meeting Henry Conner will report on that subject with the help of some bulletins. The next meeting will be held at the home of Velma Peile, Jan. 2, at 7:30 p.m. " Velma Peile "Secretary. New Trial Motion Filed for Mrs. Fong Portland (U.R) A motion asking that a second degree mur der verdict against Mrs. Sherry Fong be set aside and a new trial ordered was filed today by her attorney, Irving Good man. . Mrs-. Fong, was recently con victed in the 1954 death of 16-year-old Diane Hank. Goodman filed the' 22-page motion with Circuit Judge . Al fred P. Dobson. He claimed the state failed to present sufficient evidence to sustain the verdict. OFFICER TO RETIRE Portland (U.R) Ben A. GRAPE PH. 3-1971 Brothers Reunited At Portland Station After 47 Years Apart Portland '(U.R) Two brothers who hadn't seen each other since 1908 were reunited here today after each had waited half an hour in the Union depot with out knowing the other was there. George Kitto, 74, Chicago, and Arthur S. Kitto, 72, Portland, shook hands warmly as cam eras ground and flashbulbs pop ped. They had not seen each other since 47 years ago in Du luth, Minn. Stayed in Hotel George had been scheduled to arrive frcJm San Francisco 'by train at 8:45' a.m. but came in late last night instead and stay ed in a hotel until it was time to go meet his brother. He said he took an earlier train because it was storming so hard in the Bay area. Arthur was in the waiting room and failed to recognize his brother, thinking at first he was a railroad or a press representa tive. Finally a reporter noticed a resemblance and informed Arthur his brother was in the group he had been watching. George denied reports that he and his brother had, parted over an argument. "We just never corresponded, that's all," he said After they posed for pictures they walked arm-in-arm to a waiting car and drove to Ar thur's home for breakfast. His wife, Carol, was at their la meeting in 1908, accompanying the brothers to a movie that day, George recalled. Lot of Catching Up The reunion was to be a short one. George planned to take a train tomorrow afternoon for Virginia, Minn., to spend Christ mas with a younger sister. In the meantime, they had a lot of catching up to do. George works in the mail and Rita Hayworth Reaches New York New York (U.R) Actress Rita Hayworth arrived aboard the liner He de France today for "some business affairs" and a Christmas in California without her two children, who remain ed in France with her former husband, Aly Khan. Miss Hayworth said she would be in California on Dec. 27 for "the court case" in her breach of contract fight with Columbia Pictures. The actress will fly to the coast earlier, however, to spend Christmas after visiting "a couple of days" with friends here, she said. Report Said 'Ridiculous' Miss Hayworth denied as "ri diculous" a report that she was traveling with Egyptian film producer Raymond Hakim. She acknowledged knowing him but said "Mr. Hakim is not aboard." Miss Hayworth's daughters, Yasmin, born of her. marriage to Aly Khan, and Rebecca of an earlier marriage to Orson Wells remained with Prince Aly at Cannes. She said they would go with him later to Nejev in the French Alps and she will join them there in January as soon as her legal problems are over. Miss Hayworth was divorced from her most recent husband, singer Dick Haymes, while she visited in France. Western Airlines Strike Postponed Chicago (U.R) A strike scheduled for tomorrow against Western Airlines has been post poned by the Air Line Pilots as sociation. . The union yesterday accepted an offer by the National Media tion Board in Washington to de lay the walkout while efforts are made to settle a wage con tract dispute by mediation. The pilots union said its ne gotiation will meet here today with Leverett Edwards, chair man of the Federal Mediation Board, and company representa tives.
