Jones were honored at a reception last Sunday afternoon following a ceremony to install the Rev. Mr. Jones as pastor of Eastwood Baptist church. (Landis-Shangle photo) Pastor and Wife Honored By Eastwood Church An installation service and re ception honoring the Rev. Rich ard M. Jones and Mrs. Jones was held Sunday, December 11, at Eastwood Baptist church. The Rev. Mr. Jones is the new pastor of the church. Those taking part in the serv ice included the Rev. Thomas MtCamant, pastor of First Con gregational church, who read scripture, ad the Rev. Leroy Fraser, pastor of First Baptist church, Grants Pa, who gave the charge to the minister and the church. Balcomb, minister of First Methodist church and principal speaker of the afternoon was Dr. Elmer Adams, moderator of Eastwood Baptist church. Mrs. J. T. Johnson was chair man of the reception committee, Family Arrives From Camp Gordon Mr. and Mrs. Herb J. Grey and infant son, Herbie, have ar rived in Medford from Camp Gordon, Georgia, where Mr. Grey has been on duty with the Army for the past two years. He has been discharged, and the cou ple will live here in the future. For the present they are guests in the home of Mr. Grey's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Grey, 42 South Barneburg road. with Mrs. L. Paul Walker assist ing. Pouring were Mrs. E. J. Dodson, Miss Anna Streed, Mrs. Roland Beach and Mrs. E. M. Wilson. Mrs. G. Q. D'Albini was chair man in charge of decorations, which were in the Christmas theme. Visitor Leaves Sam N. Anderson left Thurs day for Casa Blanca, French Morocco, by plane after visiting in the valley for about a month. He is a brother of Don Anderson, 803 Pine street, and Karl An derson, Eagle Point, and spent his time with the brothers and their families. The visitor is employed by a construction ,f irm and had been in Casa Blanca for three years. Holiday Party Rogue Chapter of the Grand mother's club will hold a Christ mas party and gift exchange Monday, December 19 at 1:30 p.m., at the home of Mrs. Clay ton Walker. OPEN EVERY NIGHT TIL CHRISTMAS Holiday Visitors Arrive Here; Many to Spend Christmas Away With Christmas yet a week away, holiday visitors are already arriving in the valley. The. coming week will also see many per sons leaving to spend the Christmas vacation with relatives or friends in other cities and towns. Mr. and Mrs. George Veidt. Anoka, Minn., arrived Thursday to visit their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Evensen, 620 South Oakdale ave nue. After Christmas day here the group will travel to San Francis co to visit with Mr. Evensen's mother. They will be in the Bay city through New Year s day. Gary Boshears,' student at Yale university, will arrive to morrow from the east to spend Christmas with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Miner Boshears, 408 South Grape street. The young man is taking his fifth year of electrical engineering at Yale. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hens ley and two children, Jennifer and Jayne, are expected in Med ford later this week to spend Christmas with Mrs. Hensley's parents, Dr. and Mrs. Edwin R. Durno, Valley View drive. They will be here a week. This will be the first holiday season in several years that the Durno family has been together. Miss Kaye Durno, the couple's youngest daughter, will arrive home from the University of Oregon for the Christmas vaca tion, and Miss Jane Durno, who for the past few years has been taking nurse's training in Bos ton, Mass., has graduated and is in Medford for the winter. Miss Kaye Durno is a senior at the university and a member of Delta Gamma sorority. . Miss Joyce Bearden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.. Percy Bearden, Lozier lane, will arrive home Friday to spend ' the Christmas holidays with her parents. She is a student at the University . of Oregon, and president of the Alpha Phi sorority chapter. The Beardens plan to ' leave December 24 to spend the week end in Reno, Nev., to be with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Skyrman, and family for Christmas. They will return Monday. Paul R. Smith, Spring street, will leave tomorrow by plane for Toledo, Ohio, where he will spend Christmas with his par ents. Mrs. Smith will leave Fri day to visit her parents, Mayor and Mrs. Irving Rau, St. Helen's, Ore. Mr. Smith will fly to Port land by plane and the two will return to Medford by car De cember 29. Miss Linda Lemery, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles W. Lem ery, Windsor avenue, will arrive Friday from Portland to spend Christmas with her parents. She will return to Portland Tuesday Miss Ann Hart, daughter of Mrs. Robert Hart, Grant road, Central Point, is to arrive here by plane today to spend the holidays. Miss Hart "has been in Detroit since enrolling last fall at the Merrill-Palmer school for advanced training in nursery school training. She will enroll again at Oregon State college after the holidays where she pre viously studied and where she will be a senior. Her sister, Miss Sara Hart, is a student at South ern Oregon college. Parties Honor Barbara Green Miss Barbara Green, whose wedding to William Berthold Barnum Jr., is set for this after noon at St. Mark's Episcopal church, has been honored atf two parties recently. The first was given December 6 by Miss Jane Durno .and Mrs. Peter Trim and was held at the home of Miss Durno's parents, Valley View drive. It was an Valley View drive. Lt was an evening party, with 25 guests at tending. Miss Green was rjre- sentefl gifts for her new home. , Hostesses for the second party were Mrs. Fred Wilcox, Mrs. Robert Wilcox and Mrs. Ralph Van Nortwick, with guests being invited to the home of Mrs. Fred Wilcox on Camo Baker road. The honored guest was also showered with gifts at this event. The bride-elect is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George S. Green, 1410 Euclid avenue, and Mr. Barnum is a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Berthold Barnum. South Pacific highway. x Today's ceremony will be fol lowed by a reception at Roeue Valley Country club. Mr. and Mrs. William Leever and children, Billy, Michael and Jeffrey, planned to leave today for Phoenix, Ariz., to visit through the holiday season with Mr. Leever's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Leever, and his brother and family, the Richard Leevers, all former Medford residents. En route they will visit at Orinda, Calif., with Mrs. William Leever's brother ' and sister-in lay, . Dr. and Mrs. John W. Brown. Miss Fidelia Boone, daughter of Mr.' and Mrs. Frank D. Boone, 1526 West Main street, is expect ed to arrive here Monday from Detroit, Mich. She has completed advanted nursery school teach- Holiday Season Fills Calendar With Gay Parties The holiday season is the most popular time of the year for entertaining, and many parties, both large and small, are on the social calendar. Last evening Mr. and Mrs. Stephen G. Nye and Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Eden were hosts for a party, entertaining at the Nye home on West Tenth street. She ex pects to be here December 24 and will leave again the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. John N. Winton, Long Mountain road, Eagle Point, entertained Tuesday eve ning at a formal dinner and dance at Mon Desir Dining inn, Central "Point. The Crossmans, who spend a part of their time in the summer home here, came up from San FrancisCo just previously to the party. A cocktail hour preceded the dinner when organ music pro vided entertainment in the lounge and after dinner an orchestra furnished music for the dancing. Mr. and Mrs. H. S. About 30 guests will attend in cluding several trom urdins Pass, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Santa to Attend Children's Party At Country Club Santa Claus will attend the annual children's Christmas par ty of the Rogue Valley Country club to be held Tuesday, . De cember 20, at 3 o'clock, the committee in charge states. Group singing, refreshments and a movie are being planned by the committee headed by Mrs. Dick House and Mrs. Em mett Bullard. Children attending are asked to take a .gift wrapped and marked "boy" or "girl." for the Lady Lions Christmas project. 4- Bertrams Arrive From Texas City Mr. and Mrs. Ronald G. Bertram, who has just been dis charged from the United States Air Force with the rank of staff sergeant, has been stationed in Amarillo, Tex., in recent months. He served four years. The Bertrams lived in Med ford before he entered the USAF. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. John Turner and Mrs. I. Condit. Col. and Mrs. H. J. Meiring, 2460 Hillcrest road, entertained at a pre-holiday cocktail party at their home last Sunday. About 40 persons attended. The party is one' of a series planned by the couple, the next to be held ia early January. .Miss Cynthia Jackson-is to arrive home Christmas eve by car from San Francisco to visit until after New Year's day.
