o o TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Tuesday, December 13, 1355 Gardeners Hold Christmasarty Central Point The Christmas meeting of Central Point Gar den club was held in the home of Mrs. C. W. Anhorn last week. Assisting were Mrs. Avis Weisel, Mrs. John Wisely and Mrs. Wal lace West. Thirty-eight attended. The group assembled at 10:30 a.m. for a workshop on Christ 0 mas arrangements and a num ber wer on display for judging. Mrs. L.KT. Gorden. Sirs. Gaston Floux and Mrs. Charles Jantzer conducted the workshop on the making of swags and arrange ments for table, mantel and buf fet. Guests were Mrs. Ray Hen dricks, Mrs. Cora True, Mrs. O Clem Ault, MrsP Estella Wild man and Mrs. Grant Day. Corsages of the month were by Mrs. Walter Sutherland. Mrs. John Holmer and Mrs. Floux and were won by Mrs. Gorden, Mrs. Francis Russell and Mrs. Ed Vincent. Other prizes went to Mrs. Scott Hamilton and Mrs. Rus sell. Members also held an ex 0 change of gifts. At noon members ate a sack lunch, with dessert and coffee served by the hostess. Next meeting of the club will bs-January 4 at the home of Mrs. E.T. Reames. She will be assist ed by MfB. Morehouse, Mrs. A. T. Lathron and Mrs. Warren Pe " terson. The program will be "Beautifv Your Garden with Heather." Phoenix' Women Plan Installation Of New Officers0 phoenix Installation of offi cers will be held at a meeting of Women's association of Phoe nix Presbyterian church at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 15. The Rev. E. J. Volkman will conduct the ceremony. Dr. and Mrs. Bert R. Elliott of Medford will show pictures taken in the Holy Land. Hostesses for the day will be Mesdames Enid Caster, W. M Caldwell, H. E. Root, A. V. Thompson and Ernest James. Children will be cared for in the h"me of Mrs. Albert Arnold. Christmas Party Planned by Groups Colonel Sargent camp and auxiliary United Spanish War Veterans, will hold their annual Christmas dinner meeting and party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. Z. Agee, 518 South Oak dal)Rvenue at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 18. All those attend ing are to take table service. There will be an exchange of gifts for both men and women. The veterans will furnish tur keyrand the rest of the dinner will be potluck. Mrs. Frank Wid- ner and her committee will have charge of the arrangements. Holiday Party Held in Phoenix Phoenix Phoenix Garden club held a luncheon and Chris mas party December 9 at Phoe nix Community hall. An ex change of gifts was held. Guests at the meeting were Mrs. Henry A. Kantor, Fern val ley; Mrs. La Vance Norton, Tal ent: Mrs. E. E. Armstrong, Duns muir, Calif., and Mrs. Leaelta Rickenbacher, Medford. Featured arrangement for the meeting was brought by Mrs. Thomas C. Read who demon strated the use of evergreens and Christmas tree decorations for a mantel. Various club members also brought other Christmas arrangements for the home and spoke of their use. Demonstrations of table ar rangements and swag making were given by Mrs. J. E. Harp er, and Mrs. A. C. Lewis showed how to make wreaths and sev eral other types of holiday deco rations for the home." Plans were made for several club members to assist the Men's Garden club at the Camp White domiciliary today with garlands and wreaths for decorating at the camp. 4 VFW Auxiliary Initiates Four In Shady Cove Shady Cove Four new mem bers were initiated into the aux iliary of Steelhea'd post, Veter ans of Foreign Wars, at a meet ing held December 2. The new members are Mrs. R. W. Col pitts, Mrs. Robert Henderling, Mrs. Jack Aldrich and Mrs. Marion Hull. A talk on civil defense was given by the chairman, Mrs. Dale Sawyer. Mrs. Frances Mil ler read an article on proper washing and cleaning of the American flag. This afternoon the auxiliary held the annual "pil pal" party. and Friday, December 16, the post and auxiliary will hold the annual Christmas party. It will be a potluck dinner beginning at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a gift exchange. Gifts are to cost no more than 50 cents. December 17 the auxiliary will hold a food sale at the Shady Cove cleaners. Articles of handwork will also be offered for sale. At the last meeting the auxil iary also made plans to give food baskets for Christmas. Re freshments followed the meet ing. A workshop meeting in prep aration for Christmas was held at the home of the auxiliary president, Mrs. Harry Birch, November 29. ' Post, Auxiliary Announce Party Sunday at Hall Crater Lake post' and auxil iary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will hold the annual Christmas party Sunday, December 18, at VFW hall, 42 North Front street. It is stated that the party will be held in the upstairs hall be ginning at 2:30 p.m. A program of specialty Christ mas numbers is planned, and Santa Claus will attend to greet and present gifts to special guests of veteran families. Members of Girl Scout Troop No. 158-will also be guests at the party. At the last meeting of the auxiliary, a surprise birthday shower was given in honor of Mrs. O. O. DeBerry. Party Tonight The annual Christmas party of District No. 4, Oregon State Nurses' association, will be held tonight at 8 o'clock at Commu nity hospital's penthouse. Election of officers will be held during the evening. 4 Plan Dinner Ladies' auxiliary to the Frater nal Order of Eagles will hold the .monthly birthday dinner Saturday. December 17, at 6:30 p.m. in Eagles' hall. Women at tending are to take a covered dish or salad. Cub Scout Group To Be Organized -By Talent Parents The second Cub Scout organi zational meeting in Talent is set for Wednesday, December 14, at 7:30 p.m. All interested par ents are being asked toOneet at the Talent grade school. One of the scout executives from Medford will be present to help with the organization, and will show the group a film on the Cub Scout program. Talent Parent - Teacher asso ciation will sponsor the group. To Initiate Women of the Moose will hold initiation Wednesday, December 14, at 8 p.m. at the Moose hall, 11 South Newtown street. The program and refresh ments are being planned by the social service committee. Mrs. Eugene Dale is chairman.
