WILSON United Pren Correspondent Washington (U.R) Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a man who inspired controversy among hig fellow A m e r i cans, some hating equally as oth ers loved. But FDR'S worst enemies never claimed he couldn't make a speech. Fou r teen years ago this Lyle C. Wilson day, Mr. Roose velt delivered before Congress an address which surely will be in any short list of great presi dential utterances. Kiwanis Foundation Funds Total $3,298 Kiwanis Foundation of Med- ford funds were listed at $3, 298.69 yesterday by Foundation Treasurer Dwight Houghton. Houghton, President Boyd Budge of the foundation and E. Ron Rice spoke at the Medford Kiwanis club luncheon yester day concerning the corporation formed by the club to provide education and charitable assist ance. Certificates were handed to 25 contributing members of the foundation. They included Ed Feldman and Les DeArmond, life members, and 23 sustaining members. C. O. Rice was intro duced as a non-Kiwanis member of the foundation. It was reported that three other sustaining mem berships had been received since the certificates were prepared. Sustaining memberships are S10 per year contributions and life memberships are-given for donations of S500 or more. Budge outlined foundation ad ministration and Kiwanis re sponsibility. Ron Rice urged 100 per cent participation by mem bers of the club. The luncheon was at Rogue Valley Country club. Kiwanians and their wives will meet jointly at the country club next Wednes day noon for the annual Kiwan ian Dames doll luncheon. Hoffman Defends Funds for Republic Los Angeles (U.R) Paul Hoff man, board chairman of the Fund for the Republic, today defended the controversial fund against the criticism of Henry Ford II. Hoffman refused to take di rect issue with Ford but said, "anyone who will review the record of the Fund of the Repub lic will agree it has made im portant contributions through educational means . . ."
