Meanwhile the Sacred Heart hospital x-ray clinic is open Thursday afternoons from 2 to 5 p.m. A small charge is made for the x-rays to cover cost of films and technicians' time. Funds from the seal sales covers cost of extensive x-ray ma chinery. Since each case of tuberculosis costs the vicinity $15,000 the machines already have demonstrated their value in cases found in this county. (U.R) Portrait artist Nan Rice, whose paintings are included in many collections throughout the na tion died yesterday. She was 65. Mrs. Rice moved to Stock tgji four years ago from Chicago. They were attend ed by an aunt and uncle of the bride, who is the former Evelyn Cotter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Cotter, Benson st., Med ford. A shower was held for the couple Nov. 29 at the home of Mr; and Mrs. R. P. Wolfe, par ents of the bridegroom. They re ceived many beautiful gifts. Leon attended Phoenix High school while Miss Cotter attend ed Medford schools. Mrs. Chester Fitch and her 9-month-oId grandson, Ashland, spent the day Tuesday' at the home of her sister, Mrs. I. J. Hanscom. Thanksgiving holiday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J W. Watkins were Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Judd, Menlo Park, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Fioyd Wat kins and daughter Phyllis, and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bourne and son Richard, all Medford. The Garden club will hold an all day meeting Friday, Dec. 9, with a covered dish luncheon being served at noon. Mrs. Fay Caster, Mrs. Blanche Coffeen, and Mrs. Jerry Coffeen returned home Dec. 3 after a month's trip and visit to El Paso, Tex., where they were guests of Mr. and 'Mrs. Dick Caster, son and daughter-in-law of Mrs. Caster. They went by the north ern route through Boise, Idaho, Salt Lake City, and the Grand Cnnyon. On the return trip they came the southern route and visited Disneyland in Los An geles. They visited a sister of Mrs. Caster there, Mrs. Dora Poletiek, who came home with them. A business meeting was held at the Community club last week and members decided that as the schools and the churches were having their various Christmas programs, the club would not have a Christmas program this year. Mr. and Mrs. John Founsley and son Ray of Milwaukee, Ore., spent Thanksgiving -day at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Thomp son. v Miss Genevive Turck, Mur phy, visited at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Thompson last week. Billy Barlow, Corvallis, and Barbara Barlow, Longview, Wash., spent Thanksgiving week end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Olen Barlow. Frank Lovett returned home last week after a visit with his mother in Tucson, Ariz., and his daughter, Mrs. Maxine Pierce, Sacramento, Calif. Mrs. Alice Bjork and her sis ter, Mrs. Hannah . Vick, spent Thanksgiving in Portland at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Art Kane, daughter and son-in-law of Mrs. Bjork. Leo Tony is visiting a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Fay Fielstad and family. Mrs. Elva Briscoe is back at wprk at the Drive-in cleaners after recuperating from a case of the flu. Mrs. Bradley has been ill with the flu. Half-Size Style ACA Group May Be Established Here The American Camping asso ciation has expressed interest in organizing a Southern Oregon district of the Oregon section, according to Glenn Klein, county 4-H extension agent. The ACA program is designed to help those who work as camp directors or as staff members of summer camps. The association consists of members of youth groups including Camp Fire Girls, Boy' and Girl Scouts, YMCA and 4-H clubs as well as private clubs. Klein said persons interested may contact him. He said more details will be available later, and a discussion of a possible Southern Oregon district will be held at the annual camp direc tors workshop late in January. Oregon Faces Cut In Polio Vaccine Portland (U.R) The pub lic health service will drastical ly curtail" Salk polio vaccine allotments for Oregon unless, in oculations are stepped up, it was reported today. Mark Howard, state board of health spokesman, said he had been informed by public health officials in San Francisco that Oregon's quota of vaccine prob ably would be reduced because so much of it was expiring un used in pharmacies. The vaccine is ineffective after its expira tion date. Howard also said that this was the third worst year in the polio history of the state with 416 cases reported through Dec. 3. There have been no cases among those who have received" Salk shots. In 1950, 520 cases were re ported in 1952 and 415 in 1943.
