CHAPMAN Hornbrook Mr. and Mrs. Emory Parshall left for Red ding, Calif., Nov. 26, where Mrs. Parshall will enter Mercy hos pital to undergo major surgery. Parshall will remain in Redding until Mrs. Parshall is able to return home. During their ab sence, their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Parshall, will operate the ranch. The younger Parshalls recently moved from their former home in Seattle, and are now making their home in Hornbrook. Mr. and Mrs. James Hodge returned on the Shasta Daylight Nov. 27 from a two weeks trip to the bay area. Hodge spent a short time in the Southern Pa cific hospital in San Francisco undergoing a medical check-up, after which they visited rela tives in Palo Alto. Thanksgiving was spent with their son and his family, Mr. and MrsP Oliver Hodge and sons, Jimmy and Allen, Dixon, Calif., where their son Is superintendent of music in the Dixpn high and elemen tary schools. While there, they witnessed the installation of their daughter-in-law as worthy matron of Golden Rod chapter, O.E.S. Be fore returning home, Mr. and Mrs. Hodge also visited and shopped in Vallejo and Sacra mento. Hodge retired several years ago as Southern Pacific agent in Hornbrook. The regular meeting of the Hornbrook Grange took place at the Grange hall Nov. 2. The attendance was small, as it was the day after the holiday, and many members were out of town over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nelson took the obligation. The regular meeting dates are the second andQ fourth Fridays of each month. The next meet ing is scheduled for Dec. 9, when officers will be elected. 0 Mrs. Allie, Tyrer, Mrs. Edith Young, and Mr. and Mrs. Har old Thomas, all Yreka, were guests over the week end of "Mom" and "Dad" Tyrer on Hen ley rd. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Williams, former residents of Hornbrook, who are now making their home at Whittier, Calif., were in this area the past week, visiting friends in Hilt and Hornbrook. Many local residents took ad vantage of the clear, dry road over the Siskiyous last Saturday to do some early Christmas shop ping in Medford. Among those School for Deer Hunters Successful . Sacramento, Calif. (U.R) Cal ifornia now requires that all deer hunters under the age of 16 go to hunting school, and the new law has paid off in lives saved. ' The department of fish and game reported that statistics from last year's hunting seasons showed trained junior hunters were 19 times as safe as the un trained juniors in the field. Any youngster planning a hunting trip has to pass the pre scribed four-hour training course. Bad Weather Slows Kunf for Lost C54 Ogden, Utah (U.R) Search planes struggled against rain, snow, and poor visibility today in their attempt to locate an Air Force C45 that disappeared mysteriously last night with two persons aboard. The craft, a military version of the twin Beechcraft, was coming in for a landing at Hill Air Force Base last night when it vanished in a rainstorm and low-hanging clouds. 0The two persons aboard had not been identified pending notification of their nearest of kin. The plane left Cheyenne, Wyo., yesterday afternoon. Earlier this week Milton Berle was forced to withdraw from his own show because of "extreme exhaustion."
