Movie Not Shown Notre Dame Team; Listed Objectional Hollywood (U.P.) A movie version of the Broadway musical, "Guys And Dolls," was not shown to the Notre Dame foot ball team Friday night reported ly because the five-million-dollar film had been listed objection able in part by the Catholic Legion of Decency. Crooner Bing Crosby, who has been the host of the Notre Dame team for years on its visit here to play the University of South ern California, took the team, in stead, to a special showing of Danny Kaye's latest comedy, "The Court Jester." Scanty Costumes The Catholic Legion of Decen cy listed the film objectionable in part because of a strip tease and scanty costumes of some dancers. Crosby called Goldwyn Stu dios earlier this week and asked for a print of the musical to show to the team. But after the Legion of Decency included the film on its list, a spokesman for Crosby called the studio and said, "We made other arrange ments." The studio, however, said it had not definitely promised to show the film and added that no print was available. Friends of Crosby said several Catholic laymen had called to object to showing pictures on the banned list to the team. There are probably as many au tomobiles on Manhattan Island in the daytime as there are in Los Angeles. Yet Manhattan is only two miles wide at the widest and twelve miles in length. These queries appear to have started a series of heated arguments among chefs and maitre d's of Manhattan. A baron of beef is a cut of beef consisting of undi vided loins. The weight varies. Depends on size of the carcass. Usually is about 18 per cent of total weight. With a carcass of 600 pounds the baron will be 108 pounds. One of the Stuart kings knighteS a loin of beef, calling it Sir Loin. So it happened that twin loins were given the title of "baron." Jury Indicts Four ' In Connection With Big Narcotics Ring Portland UR) A narcotics ring was broken up Friday by federal and local police, who arrested four persons indicted secretly by the Multnomah county grand jury. Police said "a large amount" of marijuana was found in the apartment of one of the suspects. Police said the ring, one of the largest to operate here in re cent years, was headed by Sears (Ricardo) Richardson, 36, who was charged with three counts of illegal sale of narcotics and one count of possession. Bail was set at $10,000. Illegal Sal Also arrested and charged with illegal sale included Leo Rodgers, 38, Robert (Trim) Brown Jr., 27, and James Eldon Olson, 22. Three others included in the secret indictments were still sought by police. Officers credited 29-year-old rookie policeman Earl Johnson with uncovering the ring. John son, who was sworn into the force secretly shortly before his investigation began, became friendly with members of the so- called "Broadway gang" and learned the main sources of nar cotics. Becomes Suspicious Brown told police he became suspicious of Johnson last week and fled to Seattle. He returned Friday in time to be arrested, when he became convinced his doubts about Johnson were wrong. Richardson, identified by Johnson as the "wholesaler" of the ring, was paroled from Mc Neil Island federal prison last January after serving part of a narcotics conviction. District Attorney William Langley said at least one of the suspects had been selling mari juana to teenagers. H Club News Central Point Dairy Club The Central Point Dairy club met at the C. E.
