Jeff Don nell is happily "married" again to George Gobel on his television show thanKs to the fans who helped her get her job back. When the Gobel show opened for the fall season, many viewers were disap pointed to see that Gobel's wife, Alice, played by Jeff, had vanished. In ner place was a mother who twitted and herded the little comedian past the TV cameras. The re sponse was violent and imme diate. Bring Back Alice In Hollywood a club was formed to get the mother off the show and bring back Alice. Let ters from anxious Alice-lovers poured into NBC. Two weeks later Jeff returned to the show. "I'm very happy to be back," Jeff said today. "At first I felt badly about not Deing on the show I felt so married to George! Every place I went peo ple asked me, when are you going back on the show?" Written off Show Jeff had no idea she was writ ten out of the program until late August. Producer - writer Hal Kanter decided George's stint would turn into another husband-wife comedy unless he changed the format. Besides, having a different actress play Alice each program would give them more oppor tunities for guest stars," Jeff said. "I understood that. So when my agent phoned to tell me to look for another job, I wasn't hurt or angry." Howard, 62, and his brother, Moe, and Larry Fine were well known to moviegoers for their slapstick comedy over the past 20 years. A friend, Robert Silverger, was driving Howard to the hos' pital when the comedian died. Howard had been in show business since he was 13 years old and was under contract at Columbia studios for 23 years He is survived by his widow Gertrude, and son, Morton, and two brothers, Benjamin and Moe. Worry More Damaging lo Heart Than Hard Work Fear is one of man's most damaging experiences because it plays havoc with his entire body. (Q) "My husband is 62 years old. "The doctor told him he was too old io try doing what he did 30 years ago. This has frightened my husband to such a point that he is afraid to do anything, even drive the car. "He is always talking about what I should do if he sud denly had another heart at tack. He is afraid to go any where without me. I drive him to his office and pick him up every day. "I think he is carrying this too far and I feel he is hurt ing himself more by worry than by doing things. But I don't seem able to convince him there is no real need for worry about his health." R. G. (A) I doubt if you can do much for your husband but I am sure his doctor can. I suggest you make an appointment to see the doctor who took care of your husband when he had the attack and explain to him how your husband has been worrying ever since. Unless the attack was more severe than you indicated, I question if the doctor expected your husband to become a semi invalid. The doctor was mere ly trying to impress upon hini how foolish it is for an older man to try to do the heavy muscular work he did when he was young er and that he must accept the fact that he is growing older and act accordingly. When your husband worries constantly about his health and the possibility of another heart attack, he is doing his heart more damage than if he engaged in strenuous exercise or work. Worry increases the heartbeat, just as it speeds up all the organs of the body. This puts a con stand strain on your husband's heart which easily could weaken it to the point where he had an other heart attack. (Copyright 1955, General Features Corp.) Abortion Conviction Upheld by Court Salem (U.R) Conviction of Dr. Ross H. Elliott, Portland chiropractor, for an attempt to commit manslaughter by abor tion has been upheld by the Ore gon Supreme Court.
