Actress Withdraws Battery Complaint Hollywood OJ.R) Blonde ac tress Jil Jarmyn has withdrawn a request for a battery com plaint against film star Susan HaJyward which resulted from a brawl in the bedroom of actor Don Barry's apartment. The young actress signed a statement yesterday saying, "I hereby withdraw my request for a complaint ... at this time." She said she cancelled her ac tion because "I've been through a humiliating experience and I want to forget it." The blonde film player had accused her redhaired rival of hitting her with a hafr brush, knocking her against a coffee table and threatening her with a lighted cigarette. The principal business of this meeting was the election of offi cers for 1956. The following were elected: Lois Biles, president; Jim Biles, vice-president: Terry Gail, secretary; Larry Eskew, treas urer, Marie Jones, Historian; Grace Gail, song leader: David Carter, reporter and Norman Gail, club leader. It was decided to have the Christmas party the second Wednesday in December, at the home of David Carter. G San Francisco U.P.) Two priests, a fireman and a pint of whisky were credited today with saving the life of a would be suicide who teetered for more than an hour on the edge of a building 12 stories above a crowded downtown street. The man, Armand Fred Esca lante, 30-year-old cleaner and dyer horrified a huge throng of downtown shoppers yesterday as he clung to the base of a flag staff at the edge of the roof of the Veterans administration building. (U.R) A somewhat shaken farmer called police Tuesday when he observed a damaged truck speeding down a highway with a horse in hot pursuit. State police joined the chase and arrested the two men in the truck, one on a charge of being drunk and disorderly and the other for leaving the scene of an accident. It seems the horse was bounced out of the truck box when the truck sideswiped a car and was only trying lo catch up, police said. cisco News building across the street. . Battalion Fire Chief Joseph Dykes then offered Escalante a pint of whisky. The man reach ed out gingerly and took the bottle. He pulled some money from his pocket and offered it to Dykes in payment. As Dykes reached toward the money, he grabbed Escalante by the leg. Father Wong and Father Martin Walsh grabbed the man and he was pulled to safety. Escalante's sister-in-law. who arrived on the scene shortly be fore the rescue, said she re ceived a letter from Escalante yesterday morning in which he threatened to jump from a "tall building" or the Golden Gate bridge. "All he wanted to do was find his wife" she explained. Escalante's estranged wife, Aura, was on. her way up in an elevator when the rescue was made.
