Jack Underwood, 18, Grand view, Wash., was found south of Dayton on the south fork of the Touchet river after spending two nights in the open. Both his feet were'frozen. Robert S. Adams, Walla, Wal la, another elk hunter reported missing since Friday, returned home Sunday with hunting com panions. He had found a win dowless cabin and huddled be tween two fires Friday and Sat urday nights. ' Two young Woodland, Wash., brothers, Jimmy, 17, and Larry Knight, 23, got their bearings Saturday when they ran across another band of hunters in the frigid upper Lewis river area northeast of Woodland. They had been lost since Friday. Mel Winters, 35, Estacada, who had been missing all day on a cougar hunt in the Roaring river area, walked out of the woods Saturday night as Clack amas county officers searched for him. Salem (U.R) More psychiatric help is needed to combat crimes of sex deviation, Capt. (U.R) A wealthy bank note company executive murdered his wife and two sons and then shot him self to death, apparently in de spondency after admitting the theft of 860,000 in imprinted paper from the firm. The triple murder and suicide was discovered Sunday at the home of Allison R. Sanger, 47, when a newsboy looked in the window of the house, located in quiet, residential section of Springfield. J. Loring Brooks, president of the bank note company, told po lice that Sanger had admitted to him last Tuesday the theft of $60,000 in unprinted paper. (International) Painting by Immortal Ballet Dancer Hangs With Work of Insane Artists By HAROLD WILLARD United Press Correspondent London (U.R) A haunting pattern of red and blue lines, the work of the immortal ballet dancer Vaslav Nijinsky, is on display today in an exhibition of paintings by madmen. Nijinsky painted it while in the throes of the insanity that struck him down at the height of his fame. ' It hangs, amid scores of oth ers wrought in the weird world of demented minds, in a gallery in the fashionable west end. The paintings were all by pa tients in mental homes. They were assembled, for an exhibi tion called "Aspects of Schizo phrenic Art," by the Institute of Contemporary Arts. Nijinsky's painting was done in soft pastel red and blue. It shows only curved blue lines on a red background and curved red lines on a blue back ground. The lines course and billow away from the center to the top and the bottom of the foot-square paper. It was all Nijinsky's clouded mind could produce. What he thought it meant he took as his secret to his grave when he died in 1950 after 32 years of insan ity. Schizophrenia is a form of in sanity in which the victim grad ually withdraws, from the reali ties of life into a world of fantasy. They show the curious confu sion and the morbid thoughts of madmen. The paintings fall into three patterns. In one, the painter works out images he sees in his subcon scious mind, more often animals than anything else. Sometimes the figures come out true to life. More often they are shapeless masses.- A second group shows an ob session with intricate designs. In these, the painters take great pains to make elaborate but of ten obscure, drawings. Nijinsky's work was among these. The third group shows con centration on words. These paintings are splotched with nonsensical hodge - podges of known words or collections of letters forming invented words. Most of these show the patient's devotion to a single word or idea, or some imagined perse cution. Condition Deteriorates A group' "of paintings by men who were accomplished artists includes five by a once-famous painter of cats. The first is a realistic portrayal of a cat's head. But the paintings became progressively more involved, with - fantastic designs woven about the heads, as the patient's condition deteriorated. The final one is a wild mosaic of color. Nijinsky, often called the greatest ballet dancer in history was about to go to the United States in another of his triumph ant tours for the 1918-1919 sea son when his wife noticed how nervous he was becoming. She took him to Switzerland for a rest. He became moody, then in sane. He started drawing curi ous designs, in circles, spotted with wild-looking eyes, butter flies and spiders. He spent the World War II years in Hungary. He was walking along a road in 1945 when he passed some Russian solders playing their balalaikas. They passed him their bottle of vodka. Suddenly he started dancing, such dancing as they never had seen. That, when, he was 55, was his last performance. His wife brought him to England, where he died NO ILL WIND Spokane, Wash. (U.R) Weath erman Robert McComb picked up a $10 bill being blown about by the wind as he walked past his weather station. He told a fellow worker who said he had picked up a $10 bill the day be fore. McComb reported his find to another friend, who promptly picked up a $20 bill.
