Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Dale Smith (Baker's studio) Smith-Anderson JVedding Held in Methodist Church Miss Geraldine Anderson became the bride of Clifford Dale Smith in a double ring ceremony read November 5 at 2 o clock in the afternoon. The rites were held at the First Methodist church. Officiating was Dr. Raymond E. Ealcomb assisted by Charles P. Anderson, an uncle of the bride from the First Methodist church o at Marquam, Ore. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Anderson, route 1, box 465, Medford, and the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale F. Smith, live at Gold Hill. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of Chantilly lace and tulle over satin. The gown was designed with a Queen Anne collar and her veil was held with a crown of seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of white chry santhemums with, a white orchid. Miss Carole Anderson, sister of the bride, was the honor at tendant. Her gown was of lav ender taffeta in ballerina length and she carried a bouquet of pansy purple chrysanthemums. Bridesmatron was Mrs. Fred Hogue, who wore a lavender taffeta gown and carried pansy purple chrysanthemums. The bridesmaids were Miss Gayle Childress, whose gown and flow ers matched that of Mrs. Hogue; Miss Pat Carlson end Miss Karen Johnson, whose gowns were of pansy purple taffeta. Their matching bouquets were of lav ender colored flowers. Marleene Wright, a cousin of the bridegroom, was junior bridesmaid. Her gown was of pansy purple taffeta and her flowers were lavender chrysan themums. Connie Hanscom, Central Point, a cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Her organdy floor length gown was lavender with white embroidered flowers. Jimmy Anderson, a brother of the bride, carried the rings. Kenneth Bailey, Gold Hill, a cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. Seating the guests were Don Goyette, Central Point, Fred Hogue, Bobby Lance and Dick Davis, also of Central Point. The candle lighters were Bev erly and Sharon Wright, cousins of the bridegroom. Their gowns were of lavender taffeta and they wore wristlets of pansy purple chrysanthemums. White and lavender chrysan themums were used, for decora tions and also were used to mark the pews. Mrs. Charles P. An derson, an aunt of the bride, sang and was accompanied by Mrs. Jerry Sherman at the organ. About 200 persons were guests at the wedding and about 150 attended the reception held in the dining room of the church. Chrysanthemums also were used to decorate the reception rooms. For the wedding the bride's mother wore a champagne col ored brocaded dress of tunic design with ice blue accessories. Mrs. Smith wore a blue-grey dressmaker suit with red acces sories. Both had corsages of white carnations. The couple made a wedding trip to southern California and Nevada and returned November 9 to live for the present at 423 Vs Berrydale ave. The bride and her family have lived in this vicinity for about 12 years and the bridegroom and his family have lived their entire lives at Gold Hill. The bride is a senior student at Crater High school and the bridegroom also attended Crater High school. He is employed as a log truck driver by Ike Orr. f Beulah Harkey, William Garrett Wedded Recently Among recent weddings was that of Miss Beulah Mae Har key. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Harkey, Ashland, to Wil liam David Garrett, Rogue River. The ceremony took place Oc tober 29 at the home of the bridegroom's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Barrow in Grants Pass, with the Rev. M. Homer Thompson of the 'Ash land Assembly of God church officiating. The bride's white satin wed ding gown was fashioned bal lerina length and worn with white nylon gloves and silver ballerina slippers. Her veil was shoulder length and she carried white gardenias. The bride was given in marriage by both her father and mother. Miss Delia Hughes, maid-of-honor, wore a pink satin bal lerina length gown with pink hat and gardenia corsage. Elmer Garrett, Grants Pass, was best man for his cousin, Carol Barrows and Nina Har key, cousin and sister of the bride and bridegroom, lighted the candles. Pink and white asters and ferns decorated the' Barrow home for the service. Mrs. M. Homer Thompson sang, accompanied by Miss Dorthea Mills. The reception for about 80 guests was given by Mrs. Bar rows at her home. Both the bride and bride groom have lived in southern Oregon 3ll their lives. The bride attended school in Ashland and the"' bridegroom, who attended school in Grants Pass, is a sales man for Norfield shoe store in Medford. T. Dike, 728 West Jackson street. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wisely, 724 West Jackson street, and the bridegroom is a son of Mrs. A. Gamsby, San Francisco, and Forrest B. Liddell, 712 South .Newtown street. Dr. Raymond Balcomb of First Methodist church read the mar riage ceremony at two o'clock in the afternoon. Forty guests attended. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a two-piece navy blue knit suit with white angora trim, white accessories and a corsage of white chrysan themums. She was attended by a sister, Mrs. J. L. Acker, who wore a suit of avocado green with white accessories and her flowers were gold colored chry santhemums. David Wisely, brother of the bride, was best man for Mr. Liddell and Jim Peart was usher. Mrs. Wisely wore a dark lav ender pleated dress with ac cessories of lighter lavender and a corsage of white chrysanthe mums. Mrs. William E. Cohee, the bridegroom's sister, wore a black suit with corsage of yel low chrysanthemums. The reception which followed was given by the Wiselys in the Dike home, which had been dec orated with arrangements of chrysanthemums. Mrs. Cohee poured and Mrs. Robert Pfaff cut the wedding cake. Mr. and Mrs. Liddell are trav eling in California for their wedding trip and will live in San Diego where the bridegroom is stationed with the United States Navy. He attended Medford schools and was graduated from Medford High school before en tering the Navy. The bride, who also attended Medford schools and' was grad uated from Medford High school, has been a mail clerk for The Calif ornia - Oregon Power com pany. DUV Officers Visit Medford Mrs. Florence Small, Eugene, department president of the Doughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and Mrs. Kate Mcllvain, Grants Pass, depart ment chaplain, were guests of Elta Deuel Hubbs tent at a meet ing Tuesday evening. A dinner in their honor was given at the Medford hotel, and they were over-night guests of Mrs. Fred Daugherty. Wednes day Mrs. Small, Mrs. Mcllvain, and Mrs. Daugherty were enter tained at lunch at the home of Mrs. George Ware, after which Mrs. Small left for Grants Pass to visit an old friend, Mrs. R. L. Rose. Couples Attend OSC-California Game Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Stuart V. Mc Queen, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Pierce and Mrs. Joseph F. Clark will return today from California where they attended the Oregon State-University of California football game yesterday. All six are alumni of either OSC or the university, and Mr. Pierce played football for the Cali fornia school. Sit ,-; a . J;; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Forrest Liddell (Brainerd photo) Three Concerts Announced By Philharmonic Society The Philharmonic Society of Southern Oregon has planned three concerts for the 1955-56 season. They will be held at Medford Senior High school au ditorium on November 27, De cember 29 and March 25, all Sunday afternoons, according to Richard D. Werner, director. Program time will be 3 o'clock. Sunday afternoons were chos en as a convenient time for a greater number of people and in the event of inclement weath er, such as fog, afternoon pro grams enable members of the orchestra from out of town and the audience to return home at an earlier hour. The programs will consist of standard symphonic works in the orchestral repertoire "and some of the lighter compositions of the great masters, Mr. Wer ner states. Soloists will be fea tured at each concert. John Drysdale is' personnel director of the society, Tod Tib butt is business manager and Central Point Pair Plan Open House Central Point Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Glass, 322 North Third street, Central Point, will hold open house Sunday, November 20 from 2 to 5 p.m., in observ ance of their 50th wedding an niversary. Friends and relatives of the couple are invited to call on them. Mrs. Glass has lived in this vicinity since she was 11 years old and Mr. Glass has lived here for many years. - Mrs. Eunice Jones, Central Point, a daughter, will be host ess for the event. Dinner Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Thorn dike and Mr. and Mrs. Stephen G. Nye were hosts for a dinner party last Friday evening. Guests were invited to the Nye home on West Tenth street. Mrs. Tom Popham is president of the Philharmonic Society guild. The guild will assist with the sale of tickets, and Mrs. Pop- ham announces that season tick ets will be S3 for adults and SI. 50 for students. Home Rites Wed Couple Sams Valley Mrs. Marie Northey and Dave Cardwell were married in a home cere mony November 10. The rites were read at 7 o'clock in the evening at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Milkowski, route 2. box 455, Gold Hill, and about 30 guests attended. " The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mershon, Ruch. He is employed by the city of Medford as an equipment op erator and the bride is employed in the circulation , department of The Mail Tribune. The Rev. H. A. Dierdorff of Gold Hill officiated. Fall flowers decorated the Milkowski home. The bride wore a winter white knit suit with brown accessories and her flowers were brown and yellow orchids. Mrs. Wayne Mil kowski, a sister-in-law, was matron of honor. Her suit dress of brown faille was worn with brown accessories. Her flowers were pink) and white carnations. Earl Richardson was best man for Mr. Cardwell. A reception was held after the ceremony and the wedding cake was served by Mrs. Ruby Rundell. Mrs. May Brown poured coffee. Mr. and Mrs. Cardwell will live at 2111 Hillway drive. The bride has lived in this Vicinity her entire life and the bride groom since 1936. Service League Announces Date Of Annual Ball Medford Junior Service league" has set December 16 as the date of the annual charity ball. As in past years, it will be held at Rogue Valley Country club. Mrs. Jack Lewis and Mrs. B. Brandt Bartels are co-chairmen in charge of arrangements. Several new features are being planned. A cocktail hour from 8 to 9 p.m. will precede the ball, and a floor show with dancing girls is to be part of the enter tainment program. Highlight of the ball will be a contest for the most glamorous and original headdress worn by a woman, xnese may De made of Christmas ornaments, tinsel, holiday glitter or other appro priate material. Winner of the contest will be named queen of the ball. The ball has become one of the most important social events of the holiday season m Medford. Couple Married In Home Rites; Will Live Here Mrs. Mabel Alyce Searle and Roscoe Harmon,. Sunnyville, Calif., were married in a cere mony held at the bride's home, 1035 Cherry street, October 26. Pastor M. A. Simmons of the Wayside chapel performed the rites. A few close friends and neigh bors were present for the mar riage ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pulse at tended the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Harmon made a brief wedding trip and are at home at the Cherry street ad dress. Dale Cooper To Marry Soon Mr. and Mrs. Luther Alex McBride, Ripley, Tenn., an nounce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Geneva Ann. to Lt. Dale Veldez Cooper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Valdez Cooper of this city. The wedding is set for Decem ber 4 in Asbury Methodist church, Ripley. Miss McBride was graduated from Ripley Hieh school and attended Mississippi College for Women, Columbus, Miss., where she was a member of the Bach society and Glee club. Lieutenant Cooper was gradu ated from Medford High school and attended Oregon State col lege before entering the Air Force Cadet school from which he was graduated last July. He is now serving as a B-47 pilot with the Strategic Air command, Mcuonnell Air Force base, Wichita. Kan. Mr. and Mrs. Cooper plan to attend the wedding. Lt. Cooper has requested his father to serve as his attendant. Medford Woman To Leave Monday Mrs. I. E. Schuler wiU leave Monday for Portland to spend the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Walker Treece. Shortly after the first of the year Mrs. Schulec will sail for Europe and after traveling for a time, in the southern coun tries will go to "Vienna where she plans to remain for a year. During the past few weeks Mrs. Schuler has been honored at a number of parties. Hamm, Bird City, Kan., announce the engagement of their daughter, Geraldine, to Lt. Stephen P. Meyers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Meyers- Black Oak drive, Med ford. Lieutenant Meyers is a bomber pilot in the Strategic Air com mand and is stationed at Walker Air Force base, Roswell, N. M. No date for the wedding has been set.
