TWO MEDFORD (OREGON MAIL TRIBUNE Friday. Noyember 4, 1955 Grand Guardian to Institute New Bethel; Initiation Held Shady Cove Mrs. Velma Joy Green, Portland, grand guardian of Oregon-for International Or der of Job g Daughters, will in stitute a new., bethel of the order in Shady Cove Saturday, No vember 5. The ceremony is set for 7:30 p.m. in VFW hall and Mrs. Green will be assisted by Roy Colburn, Roseburg, vice as sociate grand guardian. Mrs. John Duntep, Prospect will be installed bethel guardian anq; Allen Rogers, Trail, will be associate bethel guardian, foi lowing the institution ceremo nies a public installation of the bethel officers will be held. Miss Roberta Jane Dunlap, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Dunlap, will be the first honored queen of the new bethel. Miss Sheila Spence, queen of Bethel No. 55 of Medford, will be the install ing queen and Crater chapter of Demolay, Central Point, will assist with the crowning cere mony. Delbert Chausee. master conucilor will crown Miss Dun lap. Miss Anita Conger, queen of Bethel No. 38, Central Point and her officers will preside for the institution ceremonies. Many visitors, including past and present grand officers of the grand guardian council and queens from all parts of the state will be present. The public is invited to the installation of the bethel officers at 8:30 p.m but only bethel members, par ents and guardians and persons of proper Masonic relationship may witness the institution cer emonies. Hostess bethels and hostess queens in addition to No. 38 at Central Point, include No. 22 of Ashland, Miss Jeanne Eberhard, queen; No. 13 of Grants Pass, Miss Diane McKrola, queen; No. 14 of Medford, Miss Rosalie Johnson, , queen, and No. 36 of Kerby, Miss Shirline Yandell, queen. Troop Announces Dinner and Dance Members of the Josephine County Mounted Sheriff's posse and auxiliary will3be guests of the Ladies Mounted troop eat a dinner-dance Saturday, Novem ber 5 at the Tally Ho restaurant near Talent. Also guests will be members of the Jackson County Mounted Sheriff's posse and their wives, andT the husbands and friends of Ladies troop members. A meeting of the Ladies troop will be held Tuesday, November 8 at 8 p.m., at the posse club house. Mrs. Guy Hughes is chair man of the refreshment commit tee. . Costume Party Held at Church Phoenix Thirty young people attended a Halloween costume party at Phoenix Presbyterian church last Saturday night. Cos tumes were both weird and in teresting. Stunts provided the evening's entertainment, the H o r r o r Chamber" by the Korth brothers causing the most enthusiasm. Central Point Bethel 33, Central Point, Order of Job's Daughters, initiated 20 girls at the last meeting of the local group. The initiates will become I members of the new bethel to j be instituted in Shady Cove No vember 5. j In the class were the Misses Roma Shafer, Kathleen Halley, Mary Am Hubbard, Beverley Click, Josephine Hume, Chloe Willson, Eda Larson, Shirley Andre, Carol Smith, Linda Ec- cleston, Patricia Goode, "Diane Allen, Sue Harmon, Frances Johnson, Patsy Facey, Jeanette Cappelo, Ramona McConockie Mary Ann Wright, Justine Brin tolf and Jacqueline Hume. The same evening Mrs. Al Setness was installed guardian of Bethel 38, replacing Mrs. Richard Stratton, who had re signed. Installing officers were Mrs. Velma Green, Portland, grand guardian for Oregon who was in Central Point to inspect the bethel; Roy Colburn, Rose burg; vice-associate grand guar dian; Mrs. Everett Faber, Cen tral Point, grand guide; Mrs. C. D. Elhart, Ashland, grand mar shal; Mrs Charles Clary, Ash land, installing chaplain, and Mrs. Stratton, installing secre tary. Visitors at the meeting in cluded Mrs. Dale Vincent, a past queen; Miss Lynn Erwin, senior princess of the Ashland bethel; Mrs. John Dunlop, Prospect, who will be guardian of the new bethel in Shady -Cove; Alan Rogers, who will be associate guardian; Lem Manning, past as sociate guardian of Bethel 14. Medford, and present associate guardian of BetheJ 55; Mrs. Lu ther Day, matron of Nevita chapter, Order of Eastern Star Miss Gwen Moore and Miss Barbara Henderson sang. During the evening Bethel 38 presented the initiates an altar cloth for the new Shady Cove bethel, and received as a gift from the group an altar light. Miss Roberta Dunlap is to be queen of the new bethel. Serving refreshments were Mrs. Chester Ashton and Julie; Mrs. Francis Hamilton and Ra chel; Mrs. Jerry Askwith and Kay. After obtaining a California license they "just decided to get married right away" and flew to Las Vegas. Medical Masseurs Hold Halloween Party Southern chapter of the Ore gon State Association of Medical Masseurs convened at the home of Mrs. Margaret Compagnoni, Medford, Monday evening. Eu gene Santee, Grants Pass, pres ident, conducted the business and study hour. During the social hour a Halloween and birthday party was held to honor a mem ber of the chapter, Mrs. Aletha Lillie,' and Mrs. Lewis Gillilend St., Medford, mother of the hostess. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Compagnoni from a table decorated in the halloween theme and centered with a cho colate cake baked for the oc casion by Mrs. Compagnoni small daughter, Tony. Mrs. Goldie Wolfe, Ashland, poured. " Past Matrons' Club Announces Meeting The Past Matrons' club of Reames chapter, Order of East ern Star, will meet at the home of Mrs. V. A. Norris, 831 Minne sota avenue, Monday, November 7, at 12:30 p.m. A salad luncheon will be served by a committee, and a social afternoon will follow. Mrs. Norris will be assisted by Mrs. Fred Brown and Mrs. Ida Pollock. New York (U.R) It is not too soon to start planning holiday fruit cakes. Sunshine Girls Announce Party At a recent meeting of Pyth ian Sunshine Girls, plans were completed for an autumn party to be held Saturday, November 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pythian building. Members were reminded to contribute material for a rum mage sale to be held Tuesday, November 8, at the Ivy street market. Members having birthdays in the month of May through Oc tober were honored. A reading was given by Miss Layle Bost wick. ; Refreshments were served by the Misses Barbara Stamper and Kathy Smith. Fellowship Group To Be Organized For Methodists A new fellowship group for young adults of First Methodist church will have its first meet ing in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver P. Taylor at 3254 Jackson ville Highway Saturday, Novem ber 5, at 8 p.m.All young mem bers and friends of the church are invited to attend. Sunday, November 6, at 9:30 a.m. a church school class for this group will be held in the Junior High department of the Methodist church. New York (U.R) Treat the family to waffles with dried beef. Medford Pastor To Give Address On Anniversary Dr. D. Kirkland West, pastor of First Presbyterian church, will be in St. Paul, Minn., next week to fill a speaking engage ment. Dr. West will fly east by Northwest airlines to give an address on "Missions Around the World" at the 100th anni versary of the House of Hope Presbyterian church in St. Paul. Dr. West's brother, Dr. Irving West, is pastor of the church. Other speakers will be Dr. Eugene Carson Blake, president of the National Council of Churches, and Dr. Paul Wright, moderator of the General Assem bly of the Presbyterian church U.S.A. Mr. and Mrs. Ira C. Jones, who live at 2325 Stewart avenue, were married in Minneapolis, Minn., November 4, 1881. Mr. Jones, born in Dakota county of Minnesota, will also observe his 96th birthday anni versary today, and Mrs. Jones is 94. She is-a native of Hennepin county, Minnesota. The day will be spent quietly since Mrs. Jones, an invalid, re cently .suffered an attack of in fluenza. The couple lives with their son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Brockway. Other family members who will extend their best wishes today are Mrs. Charles Elmore, the Brockway's daughter, and her family who will come in . this evening from the Applegate, and another son-in-law and daughter of the Brockways, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Luchen. Guild Announces Meeting Monday Westminster guild will meet Monday, November 7, in the FireDlace room of First Presby terian church. A social hour'wilf be held at 7:45 p.m. with Miss Lucille Lenox, Mrs. Ruth Bol ton and Mrs. Precia Medley as hostesses. Devotionals will be given by Mrs. Callie Brewer. Mrs. Georgiana Beier wUl serve at moderator while the group discusses the topic "Liv ing Christianity.". ' All business women are invit ed to attend the guild's meeting Mr. and Mrs. Jones are the parents of two sons and three daughters. The sons are Dr. Rol land R. Jones, Pasadena, Calif., Norris C. Jones, Minneapolis; Mrs. Clyde Thomas, Los Ange les; Mrs. Ralph Waldron, St, Helena, Calif., and Mrs. Brock way. They have 18 grandchil dren and geveral great-grandchildren. Mr. Jones, a former farmer, pear grower and business man, has made a life-long study of economics and politics and con tinues to write on those sub jects. His writings have also been on the subjectof peace and war. Mr. Jones is a life member of the Rotary club in Minot, North Dakota, and both he and Mrs. Jones have been members of the Methodist church since childhood.
