Main Medford Ballot Title Change Request on File Salem (U.R) A petition asking rewriting of the ballot title prepared by Attorney Gen eral Robert Y. Thornton for a proposed constitutional amend ment reapportioning the state Legislature was filed with the State Supreme Court late yester day. Objection was made t the part of the ballot title referring to the proposed amendment as the federal plan. ; Edward T. Bailey of Eugene is petitioner with Douglas R. Spender acting as his attorney. The proposed constitutional amendment originally was filed by Giles French, of Moro. It provides for one senator from each county. No date was set for hearing on the petition. Girl Scout Leaders Get Down To Business San Francisco (U.R) The 6000 delegates attending the 33rd annual convention of the Girl Scouts of America turned today to official business, sub mitted under the theme, "Put ting our Values to Work." Mrs. "George S. Dunham said the American woman, far from being spoiled or over-civilized, has proved she will travel far at her own expense to live like her pioneer ancestors. Mrs. W. Bruce Macintosh, of Miami, Fla., reported on the re storation of the Juliette Gordon Low birthplace in Savannah, Ga. Mrs. Low was the founder of the Girl Scout movement in the United States. Fibber MeGee's Closet No Joke To Closet Glamcrizer New York U.PJ The Fib ber McGee closet, a national joke, actually is no laughing matter. At least not to Cecil Rhodes, who with his wife has built a successful and unusual business glamorizing closets. Rhodes' customers have in cluded the Alfred Lunts. Arthur Godfrey, Perry Como, Mrs. Har vey Firestone, Jr., Frederic March, Mrs. Walter Chrysler, Jr. and other names of the social and theatrical world. One of the most fabulous jobs his concern ever took on was for a Pittsburgh financier's daughter. "She spent $4,000 just on closet decoration," said Rhodes. "But then, the house cost $1, 000,000, so I guess she could af ford it." Accessories Started It Rhodes, a former banker, has been peering into the nation's closets since 1935, when he and his wife started their service. Mrs. Rhodes, an interior deco rator still running her own shop, used to present her clients with gaily decorated coat hangers and other closet accessories when she had finished re-doing a house. Customers asked to buy more of such accessories, and so the business of custom closet dec oration began. Rhodes left bank ing to help run it. Asked how many thousands of closets he and his wife have dec orated in those 20 years, he ex plained ruefully: "We moved recently. I can't find our early records. Guess I cleaned out one closet too many." BIG STEAL New Haven,' Conn. '(U.R) Someone stealthily stole some steel two and one half tons of it from the Connecticut Alloy Steel Co. Rhodes bemoans the state of the average home storage area. Some women meticulous house keepers otherwise treat closets as an unwanted "stepchild" when it comes to housekeeping duties. "You'd be amazed at the junk some people close their doors on," he said. Man's Closet Naglected Rhodes said homemakers us ually give the most attention to the guest closet of the house it's the one most frequently seen by outsiders. Next comes the linen closet "women like to show off their fine damasks." Third is the homemaker's own bedroom closet.
