Portland May Vofe
On Exposition Center
Portland CU.R) Portlanders
may decide by vote what site
they want for the city's 58,000,
000 exposition-recreation center,
if it isn't too late by voting time.
Homer Allen, executive secre
tary of the Citizens Committee
for a Greater Portland, said he
would ask the city council to
place the issue on next May's
primary ' ballot. He said if this
was rejected his group would
start an initiative action for a
vote. This would require 13,316
signatures.
The city council last week in
effect turned down the Delta
Park site by refusing to approve
its transfer from the city park
bureau to the Exposition-Recreation
Commission.
But there appeared one stum
bling block.
City Attorney Alexander
Brown said that the E-R commis
sion, in his opinion, could select
a site at any time before the pri
mary election and that this site
would be the legal one.

the temporary White House:
Manny Rss, the New York

began producing shortly after

Ike, America needs your heart."
After he mailed the stickers

it, "political connotations."
Whereupon he came up with a
new batch of stickers which say
"Get well Ike and please relax."

The article says that Mrs.
Eisenhower sent Elson a mes
