One. of Prospect's best known women is Mrs. Frances. Pearson, who was born in the com munity , and taught 28 years in' the town's schools. Now retired, Mrs. Pearson instructs classes in religious education for Catholic children not enrolled in parochial, schools, this being effected through released time in public schools, and the Confraternity of Christine Doctrine. Another busy Prospect woman is Mrs. James H. Grieve. She is treasurer of Prospect Community club, is a member -of Prospect Lady Lions and Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd and assists her husband,! Prospect's postmaster. Mrs. O. E. Prospect, one of the oldest settle ments in Jackson county, numbers among its residents many public-spirited women. Today .The Mail Tribune presents a representative group of these women who work in the church es, civic - organizations and service clubs of that town. ' . f The town of Prospect, while yet unincorporated, has . a population, of some 2,000 persons in the town itself and the near-by area. Lumber is the principal industry,-but the tourist trade is important since Prospect . is on the highway to Crater lake, one of Ore gon's main tourist attractions. Her collection began with the two heirloom ornaments she holds and. which survived the San. Francisco tarthquake and fire buried. irvth conservatory of her grandfather's hem. ; . ; Mrs. William Gaines has been musician for Nazarene Chapel in the Pines for 18 years plays for weddirigs, helps with" PTA, meetings, gives music lessons and aid's' the classes in. rejigious instruction -on released school time. 4 ' -
