0 Local and Party Cancelled A Hallo ween party scheduled for Friday, Oct. 28 by members of Home maker class of First Methodist church has been cancelled, offi cers have announced. Last Session The last session in a series of basic leadersrip training courses for Girl Scout and Brownie leaders will be held Thursday, Oct. 27, at St. Mark's guild hall. The session will be conducted between the hours of 9:30" a.m., and 2 p.m. Pack Meeting A meeting of Cub Scout Pack 8 will be held Thursday, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m., in Jackson school. This is the first meeting of the pack for the season and all beginners are in vited to attend with their parents. Visit Tribune Several mem bers of the Southern Oregon col lege journalism class visited the Mail Tribune plant Tuesday. Hugh Simpson, adviser, accom panied the group. On the visit were Jay Rowe, Jim Thomas, Dave Jackson, Charles Weir, Pat Lull, Audrey Hite and Marjie Reed. Leaves for Greece Theodore Avgeris, Hilt, Calif., left by bus Tuesday on the first leg of a trip to Greece where he will visit his 97-year-old mother. He has not seen her for 47 years. Avgeris' bus trip took him to Portland and he was to go from there by train to New York to board a ship for Greece. McCallister, son of Mrs. Harriet McCallister, 714 West McAndrews rd., is scheduled to participate in Exer cise Sage Brush, the largest Army-Air Force maneuver since World War II. At Community Fred Middle busher, 1517 West Main st., is convalescing from surgery at Community hospital and Debra Carson, 3, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.' Herbert Carson, 107 Crater Lake ave., had tonsil surgery there today. Brought Here John Lovelle, Ashland, was brought to Sacred Heart hospital Tuesday from the Ashland General hospital for treatment of head injuries which he received earlier in an aito mobile accident on tne Siski yous, attendants said today. At Sacred Heart Those re ported as medical patients today at Sacred Heart hospital include Samuel Culbertson, Box '905, Medford; William Johnson, Cave Junction;' William Pepper, 230 North Ivy st., and Edwin Glad, Jacksonville. Ned Chapin, Grants Pass had surgery there. - Masquerade A Halloween masquerade dance, open to the public, will be conducted Satur day, Oct. 29 at the Prospect Com munity club. The dance will be gin at 9 p.m., and is sponsored by the Prospect Parent Teacher association. . Admissions will be made by donations and refresh ments will be sold at midnight. Fire Alarms Medford fire department sent a pumper truck to the home of Robert L. Taylor, 331 Melrose ave., at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, when a flue fire was reported. There was no dam age. A reported house fire on South Stage rd. at about 5:15 p.m. yesterday was found to be the owner burning brush and trimmings. Car Abandoned A car owned by Russel Owen Brownson, 4 North Orange St., and listed as stolen Monday, was found by state police, it was reported yes terday. The auto had been abandoned in an orchard off Kings highway. Two bicycles, which Robert Allen Bright, 625 Franquette st, listed Monday as stolen, were found by city police at East Main and Tripp sts. Fisher Killed in Accident Leland A. Fisher, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. (Bud) Fisher, 503 West Clark st., Medford, was killed outright in a motorcycle-automobile accident near El Centro, Calif., on Oct. 17, his father reported today. The young man, a truck driver, was heading east on his motor cycle from San Diego when he came upon a carload of Marines who were having automobile trouble. He assisted them, then took one of the party on his motorcycle toward El Centro to get mechanical assistance. The accident occurred while young Fisher and his passenger were stopped, and a car skidded and crashed into them. Both Fisher and the Marine, Cpl. Mel vin M. Berry, 22, Camp Pendle ton, were killed. The driver of the car was hospitalized. The young man, an Air Force veteran, was buried in El Centro Monday following funeral serv ices there at which the local American Legion post assisted. His father is commander of Legion Post' 15, Medford, and was there for the services. Obituaries LESLIE DAVIS Funeral services are pending at Perl funeral home for Leslie A. Davis, who died at his home, 687 Airport rd., today. OSMOND SAMUELS ' Full military funeral services for Osmond Loyd Samuels, 55, who died Friday, will be held in Camp White Chapel at 10 a.m. Friday with Chaplain Sam uel Feller of Camp White of ficiating. Committal will be in Camp White cemetery. Conger-Morris is in , charge of funeral arrange ments. - ROSE FOELLER Funeral services for Rose E. Foeller, whov died at her home at Trail Monday, will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in Conger Morris Chapel. Committal will be in Shady Cove cemetery. The deceased was born Aug. 20, 1879, in Eagle Point. She has been a resideht of Trail for the past 76 years. Survivors includ three daugh ters, Mrs. Lucy Schmidt, 2477 Biddle rd., Medford; Mrs. Eula Salter, Trail, and Mrs. Sadie Kingsley, Pollock, La.; two brothers, Alvin Conover, Shady Cove and Charles Matthews, Trail; three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Spencer, Days Creek; . Industrials were pulled down by declines ranging to 4Vfc points in Du Pont and two points in General Motors. Smaller losses appeared in a. number of otner industrial leaders. s Rails slipped lower on declines ranging to nearly a point in Santa Fe and Rock Island and more than a point in Union Pa cific. Gains in utilities ranged to more than a point in Peoples Gas.
