TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) Eight Korean To Start New Creswell U.R) Eight Ko rean waifs rescued from orphan ages by 50-year-old Harry Holt began new "lives at a 350-acre farm near here Saturday. The children, abandoned to orphanges by . their American soldier fathers and Korean mothers, arrived at Portland In ternational Airport Friday after noon from the Far East, accom panied by "Papa" Holt. Holt, the father of six chil dren, is adopting the eight youngsters, whose ages range from eight months to three years. Eight-Bed Nursery Mrs. Holt,, who said she felt like "the most expectant mother in the world". while waiting for her husband and the children to arrive, said she had fixed up an eight-bed nursery for the tots. She is a registered nurse. Mrs. Holt said she had plenty of diapers and bedding on hand, having raised six children of her own. but has arranged with neighbors for emergency sup plies. ' The family cow, "Beaverdell", will be pressed into service to provide rich, fresh milk for the children. For some of them, at least, it will be the first fresh cow's milk they have had. -"First Family" Aids Mrs. Holt said the six children of their "first fafciily" have vol unteered to help care for mem bers of the "new family,". The older Holt children's ages range fromcP to 22; all are unmarried. A total of 12 Korean children made the trip from Tokyo with Holt and Irish Nurse Kathleen Cowan. Mr. and Mrs. '. William Hells Canyon Baffle May Go Through Court Spokane (U.R) The Feder al Power commission's decision to give Idaho Power . company a license to build dams at Hells canyon was "brazen, out-and-out politics," and the battle to re verse the decision will be taken through, the courts if necessary, Rep. Gracie Pfost of Idaho said Friday night. Mrs. Pfost spoke at a banquet of the four-state Democratic wo men's regional conference which ended today after . a series of panels discussions. The Hobbs motored to Cres well with the Holt entourage Friday and plan to leave today for Texas. While federal law forbids Portland Newsmen Roughed Up During Raid on Stag Party Portland (U.R) An Oregon Journal reporter and photogra pher were "roughed up" and the photographer's camera was destroyed Friday night when a clandestine stag party ended in a riot at a former church just southeast of Portland. About 100 customers at the stag show and gambling party got out of hand when promoters of what was called "the wildest show ever seen in Portland" an nounced that a raid was immin ent and the party would have to be postponed. Raid Announced One of the promoters announ ced to the crowd that "a raid is coming and the show is over. Come back next week." When refunds were refused, the ang ered crowd streamed outside the building and attempted to over turn a truck into which gambling equipment was being loaded. Customers had paid $10 apiece for admittance to the party that included lewd motion pictures, liquor, crap and backjack games. , Riot Squad Sent- When the Journal photograph er attempted to make pictures of the milling crowd outside the building, his camera was destroy ed and he and the reporter were mauled. Residents of the area, alarmed when the crowd began spilling into the streets, called state police and a riot car was dispatched.
