The ring is gold with a diamond set in black onyx, police said. Active, Club Luncheon Earl Fichtner, president of the Med ford Active club, will present a report on the fall meeting of the Oregon district of Active Inter national at the Active club Luncheon, Monday, at the Jack son hotel. Fichtner attended the meeting in Salem last week end. Boy Injured David Doty, 7, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherill Doty, 46 South Keene Way, fell from his bicycle at Roosevelt school Friday afternoon and suffered head injuries, according to a re port from the Medford Ambu lance service. He was taken in the ambulance to his doctor where he was examined, and then taken home. Issued Permits Darrell Hu son has obtained a building per mit to remodel an office build ing at 28 North Oakdale ave. Remodeling is estimated to cost $4,500. Other permits went to R. M. Hamilton, 905 Grant st., for a $3,000 addition to a residence, and to Harold E. Gist, 558 Haven st., to erect a $500 carport and tool shed. News About Servicemen IN JAPAN . John son entered the Army in Nov., 1953 and completed basic train ing at Fort Ord, Calif. REENLISTS Pfc. Charles Everett Lodge, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Lodge, 5421 South Pacific highway and husband of Mrs. Laura Bernice Lodge of the same address, re enlisted in the Army recently for a three year tour. He is with the military police. Shepherd grad uated Oct. 14 from the Integrated Fire Control Electronics Repair man and Helper course in the ra dar division of the signal school, at Signal Corps headquarters, Fort Monmouth, N.J. Shepherd, whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Shepherd, 2780 Lone Pine rd., entered the army in July, 1954. He will be reassigned to utilize ' his training with army field forces. Mr. and Mrs. Forest Tomlin son, Couquille, Ore., were vis itors in Jacksonville last Sun day. Mrs. Tomlinson is the for mer Beatrice Eaton, daughter of Jack Eaton and the granddaugh ter of . Mrs. Irene Eaton with whom she made her home as a child. They lived in the present Paul.. Bulkin residence. Mrs. Tomlinson was educated in Jack sonville schools and was also a niece of the late William (Yo key) Eaton, well-known old time resident of Jacksonville. While here Sunday they visited her old home which Mrs. Bulkin showed her. through. She also called on- an old friend, Mrs. Anna Rumley. The Tomlinsons are visiting her sister, Mrs. Paul Demmer, Medford. Mrs. John Hatch, Hot Springs, S.D., who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. D. E. Serry, for the last five weeks, left Saturday for Sacramento, Calif., where she will visit another sister for a week before returning to Hot Springs. Mrs. ' Blanche Brown, . Oro ville, Calif., has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Merrit Swing, Merriman road,. Medford, for the last month. While there another cousin, Mrs. Mary Fox, El Cajon, Calif., also visited at the Swing home. The three women are cousins of Mrs. J. B. Noble, Jacksonville, and Mrs. Noble at tended a reunion dinner last Saturday night at Mrs. Swings. Mrs. Fox is en route to We natchee, Wash., to visit her aunt, Mrs. Helen Munson, who is Mrs. Noble's mother. The Jacksonville Royal Neigh bors will have a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday. A short meeting will be held and Mae Logan, state supervisor, will pay her official visit and give a short talk. Louis Con ley, Gasquet, Calif., formerly of Jacksonville. 4-H Club News Kandy Kids The Kandy Kids, 4-H Cooking club of Central Point held its first meeting Oct. 13 af their leaders home. At this meeting we elected the following officers: President, Mildred Darras; vice-president, Patsy Charley; secretary, Carol von der Hellen; reporter Joan Dobrot; historian, Linda War ren; treasurer, Sandra Ghelardi; games program chairman, Cheryl Ghelardi. Our leader is Mrs. Ernstyn Charley and our junior leader is Sharon Coffman. We decided our meetings are to be on the second Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting will be on Nov. 8 at Charleys. As a warm-up, the film ''America Bowls" was run and words of welcome and for mal presentation were given by E. K. Ricker, manager.: There were special matches, in which Ricker was pitted against Sec tion Leader Martin of Section 1, and. Domiciliary Officer R. H. Ruffin met Section A.- Leader Weimer. While these gentlemen can hardly be considered as 'scratch', bowlers just yet, low handicap ratings may be ex pected from, the interest and eagerness exhibited.'. The 50-odd members in at tendance enjoyed an afternoon of open bowling at the close of the featured matches. Arthur Mick, recreation tech nician, supervises bowling activi ties from 2 p.m. on each day. Arthur Medinnus, quartermas ter of VWW 1, has announced an anniversary party honoring the ladies auxiliary of the unit, to be held Wednesday, Oct. 19, in Vets Hall at 8 p.m. Games and a luncheon are scheduled. As a booking for the following week, Tommy Thompson reports that on Oct. 26 in VFW Hall at 7:30 p.m. a teacher-pupii demonstra tion will be held. Groups from the different schools of Medford. will be presented. The annual VAVS orientation and indoctrination course meet ing was held at the Medford Elks temple Monday evening, Oct. 10, with 85 present. A panel from Camp White was headed by Manager Ricker with Frank J. Glonning, . chief of special class rank to Doug James and Marvin Frazier; second class to Ernie Bolz, Mike Cox and Ray Wallace; and merit badges to Pete Overholt, Jimmy Floyd, Jim Scott and Henry Scott. Year pins and perfect attendance pins were presented to other troop members who had earned them. Ray Harrison was chairman of the court, and Mr. Haggard was the clerk.
