Snyder, Gales burg, 111., national field repre sentative for the Civic Music as sociation, arrived in Medford this vcefc to administer the membership drive for the Jack son county ehaper of the asso ciation. The campaign will open October 1? and close October 22. SThough the organization reached full membership last yttr and many persons' names 'Wire put on a waiting list, a certain pmount of changes are made from year to year. The ef fort of local persons is needed to insure the necessary member ship, officers point out. Mr. Snyder met Tuesday eve ning with the board of directors an! epecial workers at the home of Seth Bullit. They discussed the campaign plan. To asuure -availability of ar tists fore too many bookings prohibit, the board has taken option with three groups. One is the Berliner Kammerorchester with Hans von Benda conduct ing, a group of about 26 strings and woodwind instruments. This group is tentatively listed for a November concert and is con sidered to be an outstanding event for music lovers. Other options Include a male chorus, and a violinist, the dates to be announced later with other artists selected at the close of the campaign week. Send TWENTY - FIVE cents Church Women From Many Cities To Gather Here Ail church women of south western Oregon are invited to meet with a caravan of officers and leaders of Oregon Council of Church Women in First Methodist church, Medford, Fri day, October 14, according to Mrs. M. C. Sparks, president of the Medford council. Friday's meeting will open at 10 a.m. and those attending are to take sack lunches. The host church will serve coffee and tea. The caravan will be headed by Mrs. S. M. Zeller, Corvallis, president of the Oregon council, and Mrs. Ray Boyles. Eugene, fi nancial secretary. Three other state officers will also attend. The meeting here will be in the nature of preparation for the annual observance of World Community day November 4. Women from Gold Hill, Ash land. Tag Sale Planned Rogue Valley Navy Mothers will be on the streets of Medford Friday and Saturday, October 14 and 15, to conduct the annual Sailor Boy tag sale, it was an nounced today. Mayor Earl Mil ler has officially proclaimed the two days as Sailor Boy days for the city. Each year about 800 clubs throughout the United States participate in the event accord ing to Mrs. James A. Wicker, commander of the local club. Purpose of the Navy Mothers' club is to encourage content ment, efficiency, patriotism and pride among the men and wo men serving in the United States Navy, Coast Guard and Marine corps, and to extend relief to needy members or to others when the club deems it neces sary. Funds from the sale of the tags is used to carry on the work of the Navy clubs. Mrs. Wicker announces that all mothers of men or women who are, or have been, serving in any of the Naval forces are invited to attend the semi' monthly meetings of the club. Members of Guild To Attend Session A group from the Women's guild of Zion Lutheran church will be in Portland Friday and Saturday of this week to attend the Pacific Snynod session of the Women's Missionary society, United Lutheran Church in America. Miss Barbara Swanson, who attended the leadership training center last summer at Camp Collins with Miss Straus, report ed on the conference. The two attended as delegates from the local chapter. Plans and projects for the school year were discus sed. The next meeting will be held November 1 at Crater High school. Attending the meeting were Misses Darlene Smith, Jane Westover, Joyce Cowden. and Lola Pointevint, Eagle Point; La vella Snyder and Linda Hardy, Jacksonville; Sharon Mayfield, Julia Thomason and Charelen Obenchain, Crater High school; Loria Jennings, Medford Senior High school and Miss Linda Bail ey and Danny Eddy, McLough lin Junior High school. Also present were Mrs. E. C. Conrad, member of the Junior Red Cross committee; Mrs. A. L. Sturtwant, teacher-sponsor, Jacksonville, and Mrs. Helen A. Wilson, executive secretary of the local chapter.
