Proper Diet Better
Than Beauty Aids,
Declares Dietitian "
Jattle Creek, Mich (U.R)
The administrative dietitian of
thBattle Creek Sanitarium Di
agnostic clinic says modern
women should borrow some
beauty tips from the ancients.
Miss Lenna Cooper said "real
beauty" didn't come from artifi
cial cure-alls, but from proper
diets. '
"Cleopatra ras a stunner part
ly because she ate the sun-baked
foods of the Nile Valley," she
said "That ancient lady knew
nothing about calories but her
natural instincts were sound. She
had not been spoiled by modern
eiviliMtion.'
Miss Cooper said the proper
diet was better than any beauty
preparation on the market.

Visitor Misses
Ill-Fated Plane;
Arrives Safely
Mrs. T. H. Grainger, of Hurds-
field estate, Nacclesfield, Chesh
ire county, England, arrived Fri
day to visit her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Mark W.
Hoefft, and family ' at Eagle
Point.
The visitor made the crossing
by ship, arriving at Montreal,
Can. From there she went by
plane to New York City and
thence to San Francisco and
Medford, by plane.
It was only by chance, as yet
unexplained, why Mrs. Grainger
was not on the DC-4 United Main
liner- which crashed last week
near Laramie, Wyo. She was
scheduled for that flight but in
some manner missed the plane.
- For several hours Mrs.
Grainger was the object of a
search through telegrams and
telephone calls until it was de
termined that she was not on
board the lost liner.
She plans to be here for
about six months.
This is the first visit Mrs.
Hoefft and Mrs. Granger have
had together in five years, when
Mrs. Hoefft and the children vis
ited in England. Mrs. Hoefft has
lived in this vicinity for about
10 years. Mrs. Hoefft served for
four years in the Air Force in
England and the couple met
there.
Medford Couple
Home from Trip
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beck have
returned home after spending
three weeks in the east. While
away the Becks, with Mr. and
Mrs. Michael Beck, attended the
National , Bakers' . exposition in
Atlantic City. The exposition
is held once in five years.
The two couples spent some
time in New York City and
Washington, D.C., and the Fred
Becks visited Major and Mrs.
Galen C. Morey, formerly of
Medford, in Fall's Church, Va.
The Fred Becks returned home
by air, and the Michael Becks
are returning by motor and will
be home later.
