3 Radio Group Names Milnes President Vic Milnes was elected presi dent of the new amateur Mobile Radio ClulDat the initial meet ing of the group Wednesday eve ning In the forest service build ings in Medford. Bill Witt, Ash landQis the recording secretary. The club was formed for the dual purpose of being prepared to assist any public agency with communications in cases of emengencies and to further en joyment of the hobby of radio by Its members. Business meet ings will be held once a month and planned projects will be held each week unless emer gency assistance is required. Harold Howard, head of radio communications' for the local forest service offices, sptfke to the group and outlined the need for amateurs who are familiar with forest service equipment. Keith Beck also spoke to the group. He is with the Siskiyou district of the forest service. - Amateur radio orwrators whojj are interested are inviwd to join the club or contact members for further information. The Thornburg brothers, own ers of the mining company, said a quantity of ore from the White King and Lucky Lass mines is stkpiled near the railroad and freight cars have been ordered for th initial shipments. Freight Car Supply Reaches Low Figure Salem U.R) The freight car supply-for western Oregon lumber, shippers has dropped to new low figures, Public Utilities Commission Charles H. Heltzel said today. - . The Southern Pacific was able to supply only 59 per cent of the cars ordered, compared with 67 per cent the week before. On the main line Eugene to Portland, 429 cars were ordered and 239 supplied. On the Mill City branch, 155 were ordered and . 87, supplied. Eastside, via Silverton, 54 were ordered, and 46.supplied. Ceidirburg returned to his home on Pleasant creek after a two-week stay in Medford Osteopathic hospital. Ceiderburg, was. was severely injured when his truck overturned two weeks ago, -is improved but still unable to work. . Mr. and Mrs. Dave Hall and daughter, Linda, Klamath Falls, visited Mrs.: Hall's uncle, W. A. Is Honored White, and family, pine st., last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Wil loughby left by bus Tuesday for southern California to spend a month with their children and families. The Mariners gave a farewell party Monday evening for Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Nightengale, who will leave Oct3 to make their home in southern Califor nia. The Nightengales were the first skippers of the Mariners and were presented with past skippers' pins. Before establish ing a residence in California, Mr. and Mrs. Nightengale and son, Floyd, expect to spend some time in Mexico. . Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lilly spent Sunday with a son, Eddie, at the Phi Gamma Delta house in Eugene. Eddie is a secorid:year student at the University , of Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. .Lilly were accompanied to Eugene by Miss Janice Burkhardt. ; Released time classes will start in Rogue River Oct. 5. The chil dren will be divided into three groups; first, second and third grades will go to the Church of God; fourth and fifth grades to Hope Presbyterian church, and sixth, seventh and eighth grades to Assembly of God church. . Mr. and Mrs. Donald Dimmick have moved from East Evans creek to Mrs. Dorothy Osbprn's place in Rogue River. Mrs. Osborn, who is enrolled in a busi ness college in Sacramento, Calif., is expected here for a visit this week end. Mr. and Mrs. George H. Lilly have returned to their home in Inglewood after a two-week visit with a son, Ed Lilly, and Mrs. Lilly on Highway 99 north.
