Other students will at tend school in distant states. Don von Buskirk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl von Buskirk, Cen tral Point, left Sunday for Eu gene to enroll in the university as a freshman. He was presi dent of the student body at Cra ter High school for 1954-55 and was voted the most outstanding boy of the senior class. He was salutatorian. In addition, the stu dent was a member of National Honor society and was captain of the track team; be was award ed a tuition scholarship to the university and was given the Oregon Dads' . club award for both scholarship and leadership. for College; to University street, will leave this week for Greeley, Colo., to attend Colo rado State college of Education, He returned last week from An chorage, Alaska, where he had headquarters during the summer while working as a surveyor for the Alaska Railway company. Miss Fairwether, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fairweather, Dark Hol low road, is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. t Robert Sevcik, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sevcik, 26 Willamette avenue, has left for Corvallis where he will enroll at OSC for his sophomore year in business administration. Also returning to OSC for his sophomore year was Ricky Werner, son of. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Werner. Young Sevcik is a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, and young Wern er is a pledge of the group. They were accompanied to the campus by Martin Heitkamp Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Heitkamp, South Pacific high way, who will enroll at OSC for his freshman year. Siskiyou District Of Garden Clubs To Hold Meeting Eagle Point-- Mrs. Lawrence Messal appointed special com mittees to assist in preparation for a Siskiyou district conven tion of Oregon Federation of Garden clubs, during a recent meeting of the Eagle Point Fed erated club. Mrs. Messal is pres ident of the club. The convention is scheduled for Thursday, Sep tember 29 at the Eagle Point Grange hall with the Eagle Point and Butte Falls garden clubs as hostesses. Talent club women will have charge of a coffee hour from 9 to 10 a.m. Eagle Point Grange women will provide a noon meal. All garden club members are invited to the sessions. During the recent meeting gifts were presented to Mrs. C. F. Davies, Mrs. M. Heckenburger and Mrs. Glenn Clymer. Mrs. Stella Cummings was a guest and cohostesses were Mrs.- Au gust Perry and Mrs. Cal Lusk. ' . ' Supper Meeting Shady Cove Members of Shady Cove Home Economics club and their families met at the Walter Cross home recent ly for a potluck supper. Follow ing supper Mr. Cross entertained the men at pinochle and the wo men's group held a business meeting. Plans were made for the year's activities. Roll call was answered by each woman giving her fa vorite way of cooking venison. Mrs. Le&ris Dusenberry an nounced that plans had been made for the group to visit the Shady Cove cleaners to see the new equipment and watch the operation of the plant. Date of the visit will be announced later.' Mrs. Dusenberry read "hints for the housewife" and later the group watched television pro grams. Next HEC meeting will be an all-day session at the home of Mrs. Travis Littlefield October 11. Mrs. Littlefield will demon strate textile painting and mak ing of copper pictures. Chapter Outlines Coming Activities Alpha Rho chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority made plans for the year's program and so cial activities at the first fall meeting, held at the home of Mrs. T. R. Lytle, president. Mrs. William Tycer and Mrs. Richard Henselman were hostesses. Officers serving with Mrs. Lytle are Mrs. Roger Note, vice president; Mrs. David Legg, sec retary; Mrs. Marcus McKenzie, treasurer; Mrs. Paul Dix, exten sion officer, Mrs. Larry Allen, historian, and Mrs. Curt Butter field, representative to Nu Phi Mu chapter. ' " Committee women are Mrs. G. J. Adlfinger, Mrs. Henry Schroe- der, ways and means; Mrs. George Johns, service; Mrs. Wil liam Tycer, program; Mrs. Rob ert Norris, publicity, and Mrs. Allen, city council represent tive. . The next meeting is to be held Monday, September 26 at the home of Mrs. Allen, 716 Hamil ton street. Plans also have been made for organizing a Beta Sigma Phi silver anniversary chapter in Medford. Next year is' the 25th anniversary of the sorority and the goal of International Beta Sigma Phi is to organize a new chapter by April, 1956 in each town where a chapter now exists. The group held their first fall meeting at the home of Mrs Lytle and hostesses were Mrs. William Tycer and Mrs. Kicnara Henselman. Miss Naomi Macy Honored at Party -Rites Tomorrow Miss Naomi Macy was hon ored at a bridal shower given last week by Mrs. Bert Kenyon and Mrs. John Seiler at the lat- ter's home, 1132 West Main street. Miss Macy's wedding to DeVere Findell of Orchard, Wash., will take place tomorrow. Attending the party were Mrs. John Hubler, Mrs. Wesley Wiley, Mrs. Sam Young, Mrs. Nida Oat man, Mrs. L. A. Rose, Mrs. Eu gene May and Miss Beverly Ken yon. They presented the bride a personal gift. - The refreshment table was decorated - with wedding bells and fall flowers. It was planned as a surprise to the honored guest. Mr. Ruth's three children, Marion Ruth, Salem, Mrs. Homer Stephenson and Mrs. Kindred, Medford, were present. 'a fourth son, Owen Jr., lives in Kansas City, Mo., and the honored man has nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Ruth came to Medford four years ago from Thomas, Okla. Baptist Bible Class Announces Meeting Golden Link Bible class of First Baptist church will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday at the home of Mrs. Kate Nelson, 3378 Bel linger road. Mrs. Ed Nesberg, Eagle Point, will give the devotional on "God is the Omnipotent Creator." The study on "Mary, Mother of the Apostle" will be given by Mrs. L. J. Knox. Published as a public service in co operation tcitk The Advertising Council sl 1 1 - Meeting Planned By PTA Council Gold Hill Jackson County Council of Parent Teachers asso ciations will hold the first meet ing of the year at the Grange hall here Wednesday, September 21, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This is the first time for the county session to be held in Gold Hill. Main business of the meeting will be workshops for the offi cers and committee chairmen of all parent-teacher associations in Jackson county. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend, with officers and chair men specifically asked to come. Luncheon will be served by Gold Hill Parent-Teacher asso ciation, for which a small charge will be made, and a nursery will be provided for pre-school chil dren at a charge of 50 cents per family. Secretaries Hold Membership Dinner The annual membership din ner of Rogue River chapter, Na tional Secretaries - association, was held Thursday evening at the Rogue Valley Country club. Miss La Moille Pugh, instruc tor at the Robertson School of Business, was gues speaker. An IBM film, "The Right Touch" was also shown by Herb Kinder, local IBM representative. Mrs.. Gladys Rice announced that the next rummage sale would be held October 15 in the Fehl building. Mrs. Gloria Smith was appointed corresponding secretary for the 1955-56 term. To Leave . Lassen park in California. ; Dance to Follow Bethel Meeting Medford Bethel U of Job's Daughters will meet Wednesday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Masonic temple. The Medford DeMolay is invited to attend the closing ceremony and a dance following the meeting. Violinist Plays for Meeting in Gold Hill V Gold Hill Mrs. Paul Malloy, violinist, provided music for the last meeting of Gold Hill Wom an s society ot christian Service. The meeting was held at Com munity Methodist church, with Mrs. Lawrence Smithy president, presiding. Mrs. Harriet Elliot led devo tions. Plans were made for a group to attend a seminar September 19 at First Methodist church, Medford.
